  1. Hey guys, the last time I was overseas during the NFL Draft was in 1992. When I boarded the plane in Barcelona and was handed a newspaper, that's when I learned that the Bengals had drafted David Klingler. Please, someone, make sure they don't do that again.

  2. Foghat had better tunes than “Slow Ride”. “Drivin’ Wheel” and “Fool for the City” come to mind. Saw them quite a few times back in those roaring ‘70’s

  3. You guys know the rules, so I'm going to keep this simple. Guess the player they pick. Use the name the player is known by. You can do JC Latham, but not A Mims. But spelling isn't important as long as I can figure it out. No bookending. Tie breaker is the pick number for Cade Stover, don't tell me team and round. Your screen name must be included in your guess. An acceptable guess format is: Jason - Amarius Mims - 148 The contest will close for guesses at 9 pm on Sunday April 21 around 9 pm EDT. The prize is any ONE item in the Bengals pro shop up to $50, and I will pay all taxes and standard shipping. Send me a link, and specify size and color if applicable. You must be a Bengals fan and member as of 11 am EDT on 4/13/24. Go-Bengals is not responsible for the outcome or prize. 5. So, they're saying that the Bengals hold Estime... in high esteem? Cool.

  6. If you are lucky enough to have a franchise QB, the 1st round pick should almost always be either an offensive or defensive linemen. Almost every Pro Bowl caliber linemen, especially O/D tackles, were taken in the 1st round. Even more so if you are lucky enough to have an early to mid 1st rounder. The trenches are where you find the most value. Meanwhile there are plenty of Pro Bowl caliber WRs/TEs/RBs/LBs/safeties that were drafted in later rounds. So bottom line, the Bengals at 18 should either take Murphy or an offensive lineman of equal or greater value. I don't care what skill position guy happens to slide.

  7. That has to be the worst mock draft so far

  8. I would bet the Jets front office wish Rodgers would shut up. They want to win game and sell merch, but their leader is such an embarrassment.

  9. Every time I hear “Slow Ride” I think of the last scene in “Dazed and Confused “ where Matthew McConaughey is driving to Houston to buy concert tickets.

  10. I'm liking this guy more and more. Great upbeat attitude and seems like he really wants to be here. Hope he is here a lot longer than the one year contract. (assuming, of course, things work out well on the field)

  11. Yeah, the Bengals got bullied pretty bad by the teams in our division. That's why I'm all in on prioritizing linemen in this draft. Starts up front.

  12. While not really caring about other teams' uniforms I think the Rams jumped the shark when they went away from the curled horns on their helmets. Iconic and original. Like the Bengals going with stylized tiger stripes.

  13. The main thing for me is DON'T draft an unathletic OLineman, especially in round one. Here is a pic posted by Joe Goodberry on twitter showing what the Bengals could have had if they had just drafted the very next OL that had an RAS of 9.5+ instead of the bust that was picked. Having said that, I would also be happy if either Newton or Murphy were selected. Edit to add, I don't consider Volsen to be a bust, but we COULD have done better.

  15. Not sure why Tee would be frustrated with other tagged players getting deals. Perhaps they accepted fair amounts instead of asking for too much?
    3 points
  16. if thats what Tee wants then so be it. make a deal to sign near the tag with the agreement of no tag next year. now i do like Tee, and i have seen some very good things in his play. but i am not sure i have seen 30 mil /yr play . and i would hesitate at the guarantees being reported he is asking. to be fair the bengals have a track record of paying out contracts,

  17. I wouldn't say 5 QBs is a lock. It would be nice if 5 or 6 were taken ahead of us but I'd put the over/under on that at 4 QBs. There will certainly be more than 1 O-lineman taken though your guess is as good as mine as to who they are.

  18. SUMMARY: A three-year starter, McMillan worked primarily out of the slot in former Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s spread scheme (91.4 percent of his snaps came inside over the last two seasons). The highest-ranked recruit in the Huskies’ 2020 class, McMillan was Michael Penix Jr.’s top target in 2022, but he went somewhat overlooked in 2023, because of his injury and usage as an underneath weapon (71.1 percent of his catches came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage). McMillan is a rangy pass catcher (his baseball background as a centerfielder shows) with first-step acceleration and sharp footwork to stair-step or deke coverage at the stem. I want to see him amplify his aggression when the ball is in the air, but he uses his length well to snare throws away from his frame. Overall, McMillan will need to prove he can handle the physicality of playing inside at the next level, but he has three -level potential as a pass catcher and will be an intriguing option for a team that prioritizes length and speed from the slot. Stylistically, his game reminds me of a juiced-up Jakobi Meyers. GRADE: 3rd-4th Round

  19. Would not mind and nor be surprised if they used one of the extra third round picks, ie the freebee they got for renting out Vonn Bell for a year, to trade up in round two for a juicy slider who is higher in the round,. I just do not want to see a wide receiver taken until Round three at the highest.

  20. I would like to see these “people” and their expert findings. If it is just supposition from tank-topped TV blabbermouths, then question the source strongly. Are there any actual medical/psychological opinions? Otherwise it appears to be bollocks

  21. If we could get Quinyon Mitchell at 18, he'd be a good pick. It would strengthen our CB group considerably. Currently we have below average CB1 and 2s while our above average CB3 is going into the final year of his contract. Mitchell would be an example of a big value add.

  22. I thought the worst draft decision they are referring to was not trading that pick for ALL of New Orlean’s picks.

  23. It is strange to think that, at one time, players often made more money in the CFL than in the NFL. Today, the annual team salary cap in the CFL is around $6M - for the whole team!

  24. Saw Foghat at the RKO Albee in 73/74. Great venue, also saw Kansas touring their first album there around the same time. I like Slow Ride, not may rock bands playing slide in those days. It's those Savoy Brown roots!

  26. Late round/free agent fodder? Maybe Jackie Treehorn can give us a scouting report. Bengals meet with NFL Draft prospect from Toronto Argonauts Some players' journeys to the NFL are very different from others, and that can be exemplified in the 2024 NFL Draft with Toronto cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers. Stiggers played the 2023 season with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and, despite being born in America, never played college football. That hasn’t stopped the Cincinnati Bengals and many other NFL teams from showing interest in the former CFL star. According to Aaron Wilson. Stiggers has a visit planned with the Bengals on Wednesday. During his freshman year of college, Stiggers ended up dropping out due to a tragedy in his family while being there on scholarship. After a couple of years away from the sport, he eventually started back up in a small indoor football league, where former CFL offensive coordinator Josh Jenkins was coaching. He convinced Stiggers to try out and was able to help him get a tryout with the Argonauts, who eventually signed him. Despite his lack of playing experience, he played in all 16 games for the Argonauts as a rookie, recording 53 tackles and five interceptions. He was also named the CFL’s most outstanding rookie and named an East All-Star. Following that, Stiggers got some NFL interest as he received an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he played well. He seems to have caught the attention of the NFL for sure, as he is represented on Day 3 of several large boards, such as Dane Brugler, who lists him as a sixth-round pick. The Bengals need a backup at outside corner for 2024 and beyond, and if Stiggers is available on Day 3, that could be a value too good to pass up on. He has all the size and measurables and was able to step into a league that, while not being the NFL, is still very competitive overall. He even had five interceptions in his debut season for the CFL, and with that being his first and only year playing real football since he graduated high school in 2020, that suggests he still has room to grow and develop as a player. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::; Article confusing in that did they already meet with him or are they going to meet with him Wednesday? Didn't read anything locally or on Bengals.com. Not a Precinct dinner kind of guy but probably good for a Skyline 4-Way and a few cheese conies. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I do not like the term "develop as a player" and it was used about a couple of the OT's in a previous post. But, as noted by others on here, the Bengals do have a lot of draft picks and can draft a couple to push borderline vets and contribute on special teams. Or even develop on the practice squad to step up and in when ready. We'll see.

  27. The use of a certain word in this post always reminds me of The Three Amigos and this touching story: A person had just delivered the eulogy of a dear friend, at the end, another person approached the podium and asked "Can I say a word?" The first person replied "Why certainly" The second person said "Plethora" to which the first person replied "Thanks, that means a lot" Now back to your regularly scheduled post

  33. Based upon the plethora of mock drafts, and the knowledge of the potential players spewed forth in this forum, I would recommend trading back a few spots in Round-1, still getting a coveted player plus some additional draft capital. THEN using our draft capital to move up in Round-2 and/or get a second Round-2 pick…or Round-3 pick. Let’s have more picks in “the sweet spot”, wherever that might be. 🦗

  35. Relative Athletic Score Relative Athletic Score (RAS) is a metric that combines the various categories measured at the NFL Combine -- height, weight, wingspan, drill exercises -- into one aggregate number that's then contextualized against other athletes of the same position.

  38. I want a WR in the second round. Partly because of the incredible success that the Bengals have had with 2nd round WRs going back decades, but because there will be so many good ones going off the board around that slot. If Ladd McConkey should slip, he's definitely the one. Otherwise, I would love me some Roman Wilson, Ja'Lynn Polk, Ricky Pearsall...

  39. I'm aware, but he can do it. At this point he's the best option available, it's either him or an unproven rookie. Maybe someone will get cut before the season starts or they will make a trade like they did for Hill.
