Hey guys, the last time I was overseas during the NFL Draft was in 1992. When I boarded the plane in Barcelona and was handed a newspaper, that's when I learned that the Bengals had drafted David Klingler. Please, someone, make sure they don't do that again.

I went to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Columbus last night for a company function. I had never been there before, but now I understand why the Bengals choose that restaurant to wine and dine free agents. Even though we had a limited menu, everything I ate was amazing!

Pretty easy to tell what the Bengals are most focused on with this draft. A whopping 15 of their 19 listed top 30 visits were with offensive/defensive linemen. With Duke Tobin out with his Dad's recent passing, Mike Potts held the pre-draft press conference earlier today. He handled himself really well, I thought. Interesting to me that he mentioned on the analytics side that Elizabeth Blackburn has also created some reports that they use in scouting/draft prep. I know there's that Sam Francis guy and some others on the staff who do that analytics work full-time, but the fact that she's doing that, in addition to her other work - really impressive. I know she's really bright, and in addition to working on fan engagement, she's very hands-on regarding a lot of team things. But I didn't know she was involved at that level re: the on-field football operations piece too. But her Mom has been, between contracts and being on an NFL committee or two, so I shouldn't have been surprised. Anyway, it's posted on Bengals.com.

So, they're saying that the Bengals hold Estime... in high esteem? Cool.

If you are lucky enough to have a franchise QB, the 1st round pick should almost always be either an offensive or defensive linemen. Almost every Pro Bowl caliber linemen, especially O/D tackles, were taken in the 1st round. Even more so if you are lucky enough to have an early to mid 1st rounder. The trenches are where you find the most value. Meanwhile there are plenty of Pro Bowl caliber WRs/TEs/RBs/LBs/safeties that were drafted in later rounds. So bottom line, the Bengals at 18 should either take Murphy or an offensive lineman of equal or greater value. I don't care what skill position guy happens to slide.

Every time I hear “Slow Ride” I think of the last scene in “Dazed and Confused “ where Matthew McConaughey is driving to Houston to buy concert tickets.

I'm liking this guy more and more. Great upbeat attitude and seems like he really wants to be here. Hope he is here a lot longer than the one year contract. (assuming, of course, things work out well on the field)

Yeah, the Bengals got bullied pretty bad by the teams in our division. That's why I'm all in on prioritizing linemen in this draft. Starts up front.

I am sick of every NFL team relying on dark navy blue. Brighter colors look better on helmets and jerseys. The dark navy and greens / grays reminds me of something that came out of a soulless, boring corporate focus group. Also bring back colored facemasks. Every helmet on the right is FAR BETTER than than the ones on the left.

Given the absolute thieves the bengals have become trying to steal my tickets, games i cannot make, i will have for sale at face value or REALLY close, at minimum way cheaper than market value. So if you need a pair or two pairs, let me know, I am in section 111 and 106, behind the bengals sideline/bench. figured id post it so its on peoples minds when the season hits. Ill post week by week or as I know my travel plans as they arrive.

Why not make these the full time jerseys? 😵‍💫 Instead of the hideous crap they switched to. I do not fucking understand how NFL teams can continually mess up their uniforms so badly. It is very simple what most fans want. How can billion dollar entities be so stupid about the most important aspect of their product, i.e. how it looks?

Bengals1181 - Troy Fautanu - 117

I heard the latest pod from Dan Hoard on Bengals.com the other day, and he mentioned that they were going to post another one by tomorrow (Monday) where Lap would make his prediction. Meh.

Has Lapham made his prediction yet? He seems to have a pretty good idea of whats going on.

With the new kickoff rules in place, LBs for special team units will likely be a focus in rounds 6-7. I wouldn't mind another late round punter to challenge Robbins either. Should also take a stab at a nose tackle or two late, even if they might be available after the draft as an UDFA. Last year the Bengals got outbid on most of their priority free agents. Unless they plan to spend more money this year, they will have to draft them late or risk being outbid.

I wouldn't say 5 QBs is a lock. It would be nice if 5 or 6 were taken ahead of us but I'd put the over/under on that at 4 QBs. There will certainly be more than 1 O-lineman taken though your guess is as good as mine as to who they are.

Agree 100%. That 3rd round comp pick seems like the perfect opportunity.

SUMMARY: A three-year starter, McMillan worked primarily out of the slot in former Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s spread scheme (91.4 percent of his snaps came inside over the last two seasons). The highest-ranked recruit in the Huskies’ 2020 class, McMillan was Michael Penix Jr.’s top target in 2022, but he went somewhat overlooked in 2023, because of his injury and usage as an underneath weapon (71.1 percent of his catches came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage). McMillan is a rangy pass catcher (his baseball background as a centerfielder shows) with first-step acceleration and sharp footwork to stair-step or deke coverage at the stem. I want to see him amplify his aggression when the ball is in the air, but he uses his length well to snare throws away from his frame. Overall, McMillan will need to prove he can handle the physicality of playing inside at the next level, but he has three -level potential as a pass catcher and will be an intriguing option for a team that prioritizes length and speed from the slot. Stylistically, his game reminds me of a juiced-up Jakobi Meyers. GRADE: 3rd-4th Round

Would not mind and nor be surprised if they used one of the extra third round picks, ie the freebee they got for renting out Vonn Bell for a year, to trade up in round two for a juicy slider who is higher in the round,. I just do not want to see a wide receiver taken until Round three at the highest.

If we could get Quinyon Mitchell at 18, he'd be a good pick. It would strengthen our CB group considerably. Currently we have below average CB1 and 2s while our above average CB3 is going into the final year of his contract. Mitchell would be an example of a big value add.

It is strange to think that, at one time, players often made more money in the CFL than in the NFL. Today, the annual team salary cap in the CFL is around $6M - for the whole team!

Saw Foghat at the RKO Albee in 73/74. Great venue, also saw Kansas touring their first album there around the same time. I like Slow Ride, not may rock bands playing slide in those days. It's those Savoy Brown roots!

Lol true, so much changes year over year in the NFL. I remember thinking last year the Texans were gonna have a rough year. So much for that!

It was 1963…and the AFL. Fun fact: the NY Titans were bought in 1963 for the stupendous sum of $1million dollars (cue Dr Evil). The name was changed to the “Jets”, because it rhymed with “Mets” and each were going to be playing in the then new Shea Stadium. The location was also near LaGuardia Airport, so that factored in also. Having seen some baseball back in the day at Shea, the flight patterns out and into LaGuardia basically were overhead. Lots of noise.
