HuH
Fuck that guy.. He is TOx2 as far as being a drama queen.. He also has substance abuse problems and is one misstep away from being suspended (so the grape vine chirps). He is also going to cost an arm and a leg. If we were to take him on at the cost of draft picks it would be a long term marriage that I don't think the baggage of would be worth it.

Get a solid pro to help bridge the gap while you mold the kind of player you want at that position through the draft.. If he were such an obvious choice to have on your team, he would not be available right now in the first place.

Rosenhaus confirms that Bengals are interested in T.O.
Posted by Mike Florio on March 6, 2010 11:13 AM ET

On Friday morning, we reported that two teams are interested in receiver Terrell Owens.

Later in the day, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reported that one of them is the Bengals.

In a Friday night appearance with Bryan McGovern and Gil Brandt of Sirius NFL Radio, agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed that the Bengals are interested in Owens.

"Right now I would say that everyone knows that the Cincinnati Bengals have expressed some interest in Terrell and they have spoken with him and myself," Rosenhaus said. "Where we go from here I'm not sure but I think it's at least a positive dialogue. And we represent another great receiver on Cincinnati in Chad Ochocinco who would love to have number 81 as his teammate. And we'll just see how that plays out. But certainly that's something that is a possibility. I guess that's about the most I can say right now."

For now, it could be that the Bengals are the only team interested in Owens. Though we don't know the second of the two teams that were interested as of Friday morning, we assume that the Ravens expressed interest in T.O. in the event they swung and missed on Anquan Boldin and Kevin Walter. Now that Boldin is in Baltimore, T.O. probably has fallen off their radar screen.
I particularly like that Florio says his source tells him that there's two teams, but his source doesn't know who the 2nd team is. Either Florio is full of shit or his "source" (which is also likely Florio) is.

From the Sporting News . . .

Terrell Owens to Bengals. I am tired of fighting this idea. Chad Ochocinco wants Owens, and if coach Marvin Lewis can handle the headaches, why not go for it? Owens has lost a step at age 36, but the Bengals cannot repeat as AFC North champions without making more big plays in the passing game.

"We need to be able to make vertical plays, and if we throw it down 40 yards and get a pass interference penalty, that counts," Lewis said. "We need to make more chunk plays offensively and be able to affect the game, so that we don't grind it out and have 25 first downs every week."

Sign Terrell Owens? Bengals have one question to answer first
By Paul Daugherty • pdaugherty@enquirer.com • March 6, 2010

Of all the memorable scenes from a memorable summer of Hard Knocks, one stood out more than all the "Child, Please"s put together: Marvin Lewis in the home locker room after an August loss, screaming at his players collectively to "be a F-in pro.'' Over the years, Lewis has endured more than his share of shenanigans from players with maturity and common sense deficiencies. If they worked and studied and arrived combat-ready on game day, forgiveness was the rule.

So here's the question, when it comes to deciding whether manchild Terrell Owens should be a Cincinnati Bengal. It trumps all other questions. It's the only question:

Is T.O. a F-in pro?

Is he?

The Bengals need him, or someone with his skills. The suitable applicant pool is drying up. Far better to spend your millions on a veteran than on a rookie whose resume is a blank. You don't draft a wideout in the first round, anyway, unless you want to be the Detroit Lions. It's the easiest position to fill, on any team.

Owens caught 55 passes last year, in Buffalo, laboring with Ryan Fitzpatrick. He averaged 15 yards a catch. At 36, he remains a physical specimen. No one doubts he can still play.

Is he a F-in pro?

The Bengals did not win 10 games last fall simply because they had good players and good coaching, though they did. They did not survive internally the deaths of Vikki Zimmer and Chris Henry just because they could run the ball and stop the run. They had a core group of solid leaders, who wouldn't let anyone mess things up. These were players who arrived early to meetings, who studied, who paid attention to detail in practice, who believed working hard was the right thing to do.

Marvin Lewis did his best coaching job. He had a lot of help.

Character matters. It matters as much as talent. Sometimes, more. Fans can look at a real team the same way they view the fantasy version. It doesn't work that way. If Owens were so special, why didn't the offense-challenged Bills try to keep him? Character matters. If you didn't believe that before last fall, you have to believe it now or you're not paying attention. The Bengals had lots of F-in pros.

T.O.?

He had no issues in Buffalo. He keeps himself in good shape. At 6-3, 220, he's the big target newly ex-Bengal Laveranues Coles says Carson Palmer prefers. (By the way, how 'bout Coles, crediting himself for the "pretty good job'' he did last season, blaming his lack of production on Palmer's supposed affinity for "tall receivers.'' Apparently, Nine is supposed to apologize for Coles being 5-9. OK, then.)

Owens is a gamer. As a Philadelphia Eagle, he played in the Super Bowl some five weeks after fracturing his fibula. He caught nine balls for 144 yards and a TD.

Yet it's always something with T.O. His pathological need for attention makes him do team-destructive things. He is Eight-Five with a mean streak. His ability to scalpel locker rooms is well documented.

Ironically, compared to two of the other talented and available wideouts – Brandon Marshall and Antonio Bryant – Owens is practically a grownup. You want Marshall, who bailed on his team with the playoffs on the line? How about Bryant, who fought with Bill Parcells in Dallas and Mike Nolan in San Francisco and was just released by the Tampa Bay Bucs, who are terrible?

The best choice for the Bengals would have been Kevin Walter, a reliable, take-a-hit player who'd always be where Palmer needed him to be. Walter stayed in Houston. He's a F-in pro.

T.O.?

Man, I don't like this guy . BUT he'd be better than most and an upgrade over Caldwell . Sign him and bring in a drafted WR . What the hell happened to Simpson ? Are we giving up on him ?
I have never liked TO either, and there have been times that I haven't liked Chad. That said, the two of them on the field together would be pretty awesome for our offense, even if its just for one year. We'll still draft/develop other wideouts.

After thinking about it, TO is likely our best option because Marshall is so very costly and the Bengals could really use that first rounder to help other areas of the team and I don't think there's much of a dropoff between TO (whom is one of the best WR's in NFL history) and Marshall in the type of offense we will likely utilize next season...which I think will be closer to this year's run-first mentality than others may believe.

Our run-first offense will work next season, IF the defense stays stout and adds some talent (no reason to believe it won't) and IF the passing game improves with more experience/talent at the oline/TE positions and the addition of someone like TO and a draft pick or two to the WR corps.

Palmer says T.O. OK
By GEOFF HOBSON

Posted 26 minutes ago

Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has no problems throwing to former Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens. Or anyone else, for that matter, who can help the Bengals downfield passing game keep pace with the wheeling and dealing of AFC North rival Baltimore.

Owens has a volatile history. But that's OK. Palmer has made history with some combustible wide receivers.

"I'd love to," texted Palmer when asked about the possibility of throwing to Owens. "His past doesn't bother me at all. If any qb can deal with extravagant wrs, it's me."

Palmer has already corresponded with Antonio Bryant and says he's willing to reach out to Owens as they go through the free-agent process. Bryant, 29, is seen as the best young receiver left on the unrestricted free agent market and is two years removed from an 83-catch season.

Lamont Smith, Bryant's agent, said his client has some visits lined up but does not have one scheduled yet for Cincinnati.

"I would say he has some interest in Cincinnati; that's how I would characterize it," Smith said. "He and Carson have exchanged some texts and that's always a positive when the quarterback gets involved."

Palmer took note of the Ravens' trade on Friday for Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

"They're making some moves," Palmer said. "Whatever we can do to stay in the race."

Drew Rosenhaus, Owens' agent, said in a Sirius NFL Radio Friday night interview that was reported on ProFootballTalk.com there has been some positive feedback from the Bengals.

"Where we go from here I'm not sure but I think it's at least a positive dialogue," Rosenhaus said. "And we represent another great receiver on Cincinnati in Chad Ochocinco who would love to have No. 81 as his teammate. And we'll just see how that plays out. But certainly that's something that is a possibility. I guess that's the most I can say right now."

I think Antonio Bryant is extremly overrated.
I would rather have T.O., no doubt about that.
I think Bryant has had bad QB's and is known as a complete turd, depending on the money I would rather have Bryant but would be very happy with either. Either one would be better than what Coles did and we just need a better option as our #2 WR, period.

Carson Palmer wants Bengals to sign Terrell Owens
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 6, 2010 5:03 PM ET

Terrell Owens hasn't always had a good relationship with his quarterbacks. Just ask Jeff Garcia. Or Donovan McNabb. Or Tony Romo.

But after reports surfaced that the Bengals are interested in Owens, Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer said he welcomes the opportunity to play with T.O.

"I'd love to," Palmer texted back when Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com asked if he'd like to pass to Owens this season. "His past doesn't bother me at all. If any qb can deal with extravagant wrs, it's me."

Palmer said he'd be happy to get involved in wooing Owens personally. He also said he had reached out to another free agent wide receiver, Antonio Bryant, and hopes the Bengals will make him an offer.

From Palmer's perspective, adding a playmaker at wide receiver is something the Bengals need to do to keep pace with the division rival Baltimore Ravens, who traded for Anquan Boldin on Friday.

"They're making some moves," Palmer said. "Whatever we can do to stay in the race."

Wow, sorta sounds like Bryant is snubbin' us. Oh well.

I believe if the Bengals sign Owens, Simspon is going to be cut or, more than likely, sent to the practice squad. I just do not see them signing Owens to what will likely be a one year deal and not drafting a WR high. No way they can carry all of those WRs on the 53 man roster.

I realize that I'm probably overly-skeptical of Simpson, but I just don't see it. If he had that type of ability he would have had some snaps at the end of the year. Who knows? Maybe this is the year that everything comes together for him? However, I don't think you sign Terrell Owens AND draft a wide receiver early if you have any sort of faith in Jerome Simpson.

They only have 3 WRs on the roster at the moment that caught passes this past season.
And one of those WRs is Cosby. I only see 2 WRs on the roster at the moment that
are locks to make the 2010 team. And that is Chad and Caldwell. I don't think adding
a high pick WR spells doom for Simpson. I think it could. But it could also spell doom
for Matt Jones, Purify, Brown or Cosby.

Chad
Caldwell
Jones
Simpson
Purify
Brown
Cosby

They definitely need to add more than 1 WR to that mix. Ecspecially if one is a rookie.

I don't think drafting a WR will tell us anything.. If fact, I think we are likely to (just not in the 1st). Don't forget we will need someone to replace Chad and as well as a #2 WR.. Suppose Jerome is a future starter (1-3). That means we still need to fill 2 future WR spots.. Aside from Caldwell who do you see as a possible starter on the squad now?

And before you say Cosby, IMO, without his return abilities he does not dress on game day. I put Cosby down as WR#4.

How can Chick not know that Walter re-signed with the Texans last night?

Will Owens join Ochocinco?
Posted by cludwig March 6th, 2010, 3:40 pm

Some NFL teams are proactive in free agency. Others sit back, work the phones and wait for the market to settle before making a move. And still others sit on their hands.

Know this …

There is no standing pat in the NFL. You're either improving or you're getting worse.

The Cincinnati Bengals aren't sitting still. They're working the phones, planning and scheming for the future. And the future is now.

If they want a wide receiver, which they do, then they should go get one. Even two. One of 'em could be Terrell Owens.

Imagine: Chad Ochocinco & T.O. united in Cincinnati under the auspices of agent Drew Rosenhaus.

http://blogs.nfl.com...erested-in-t-o/

It sure doesn't look like the Bengals are going to get Brandon Marshall, who reportedly visited the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, much to the delight of ex-Bengal-turned-Seahawk T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

All indications are the Bengals are interested in wide receivers Owens (Buffalo), Antonio Bryant (Tampa Bay) and Kevin Walter (Houston).

"Typing Away With Chick Ludwig" wants to know which of the three you'd like to see in stripes this fall. I'd love the club to bring back Kevin Walter, who caught 53 passes for 611 yards (11.5) and two touchdowns in 2009.

http://www.nfl.com/p...le?id=WAL652190

So much hinges on how much faith the Bengals have in third-year wideouts Andre Caldwell and Jerome Simpson.

Caldwell has been inconsistent and Simpson has been, well, non-existent. We're not sure what Simpson can do except look good on the sidelines. He's caught one pass for 2 yards in two seasons.

I can see the Bengals spreading the field with Ochocinco, Simpson, Caldwell and Owens or Walter … but … is that enough?

Ochocinco still has enough gas remaining to be a No. 1 receiver, but there is no clear-cut No. 2 … yet.
