I wouldn't mind Shazier at WILL, moving Burfict inside to MIKE, and having Lamur at SAM. This would be a pretty sick LB corps.

I would love that too. I didn't think they would draft Shazier because they seem to like Burfict at WLB and Maualuga at MLB, but if they are talking to OLBs, maybe they do. Shazier feels like a luxury pick that we shouldn't make Burfict-Rey-Lamur-Maualuga and Harrison are a decent top 5 LB corps. I dont think we need another WLB I like Shazier a lot though. I dont think we need another WLB I like Shazier a lot though. That depends on who else is available. If there isn't a CB, OT (or they re-sign AC, or decide Whit is the LT), or DE worth 24, it would not bother me at all.
spicoli
notice Shazier didn't run today? I've heard the reason for that is because he's trying to get his times in the 4.3 range.....they said he's been running consistently at 4.4 but he thinks he can get it down to 4.3 by the time his pro-day rolls around......that would be a CRAZY number for a 240lb LB. alleycat
I've mentioned him elsewhere but I'd just like to pay special mention to Will Clarke, the one guy who bested Zmartin at the senior bowl. Good measurables and great size, a bit under the radar, he might be available in the 4th (but probably will go in the third).

EnglishBengal
Not sure who his sources are but I've repeatedly heard Steve Wyche claim the Bengals are targeting a 1st round DT rather than a CB. Well, assuming Gilbert and Dennard are gone, there's a chance we may get a chance at Aaron Donald or Timmy Jernigan. If that's the case you have to take them over Verrett or Fuller. This would make sense under the New York Giants school of logic. That means you fortify your team strengths first no matter what - man the trenches. This is why the Giants won 2 superbowls in recent years. They drafted dt or de in the first round for about 3-4 years on the trot. The result was a dominating pass rush that overwhelmed opponents regardless of deficiences and needs elsewhere. Based on this, I definitely would buy into a first round dt. Anyway, I think dt is a bigger need than a lot of people think. The d-line definitely last its mojo down the stretch as the Atkins injury really showed up. And the defense kept itself together against some poor offenses during this time, hence finishing 3rd.
alleycat
Not sure who his sources are but I've repeatedly heard Steve Wyche claim the Bengals are targeting a 1st round DT rather than a CB. Color me validated. Well, assuming Gilbert and Dennard are gone, there's a chance we may get a chance at Aaron Donald or Timmy Jernigan. If that's the case you have to take them over Verrett or Fuller. Or Hageman or Tuitt (the latter of which, especially, can give you swing DE snaps)... Anyway, I think dt is a bigger need than a lot of people think. The d-line definitely last its mojo down the stretch as the Atkins injury really showed up. Still hasn't materialized, but even if he had is coming off back surgery, and Geno's ACL is nothing to sneeze at. Throw in Peko's expiring deal next year - not to mention the uncertainty at the DE position (both with MJ but also role players who give us some DT snaps like Geathers), and it makes perfect sense. And, as you we have now both mentioned, following the Giants template of drafting to your strengths can be particularly fruitful on the DL. One FA I could really see coming in here would be Clinton McDonald. They were sorry to see him go and he's proven his mettle. I have a feeling he'll get more than we are willing to spend, but Marvin wouldn't have to worry about taking on an outside FA who wasn't brought up in our system...
