Jason
Strategy: 1. Fill what I consider somewhat obvious holes: CB, DE, FB, T/G type, RB. 2. Can't trade comp picks, so use them. 3. After using the comp picks and filling what I see as holes, look at picks left. Generate a trade up with what is left, take the best player that adds a playmaker somewhere to the team. Rankings: Current CBSSportsline.com Result: 19. (24+88) Calvin Pryor, SS, Louisville - adds a playmaking safety to play along side Reggie Nelson 55. Phillip Gaines, CB, Rice - blazer, good size, had he played in a better conference he might have been a 1st rounder 123. James Hurst T/G UNC - Could step into G right away, eventual LT 164. Isaiah Crowell, RB, Ala St. - Former SEC player, talented with some red flags, but here it's fine. 199. J.C. Copeland, FB, LSU - Sledgehammer lead blocker 212. Aaron Lynch, DE, USF - Another risk/reward pick that at this point in the draft is low risk 239. Marcel Jensen, TE, Fresno St. Blocking TE with some WR upside. 252. Kendall James, CB, Maine - PS CB with adequate size and speed
HairOnFire
Ouch. Really missing that 88th pick.
alleycat
Yeah, I don't think I'd trade up for Pryor at this point, less because of him than because of what it would cost us. There are only two guys I could really see trading up for (outside of some of the obvious top 10 guys that would be unlikely to fall: Donald and Dennard. I expect them both to go in the 14-20 range.
