coup000
By my count, at least 14 of the top 20 paid LBs are 3-4 guys, many being pseudo DEs. If Taze's agent goes in with those guys as comparables, he'll get laughed out of the building.

sparky151
He'll probably ask for 7-8 mil per year on a 5 year deal. There's no reason for him to take less than Paul Posluszny or Daryl Washington.

coup000
Dunlap got less than $8M per year average after signing an extension at a similar point in his contract, a 4-3 LB isn't going to get a $7M average from this team.
B.A.B.
Hey, someone who actually deserves an extension. Sweet!
coup000
He'll probably ask for 7-8 mil per year on a 5 year deal. There's no reason for him to take less than Paul Posluszny or Daryl Washington. Pos was a true free agent when he signed his deal, therefore he had every team bidding. Taze is under our control for at least the next 2 years so that situation isn't really comparable. Washington signed a "4 year 32M extension" before the 2012 season. However, it was really a 6 year contract for about 35M because it didn't really rip up the last 2 years on his rookie deal just added some bonuses. So that $8M average is extremely misleading. If it weren't the Bengals I would say 5 years 30 or 32M would make sense, but taking into consideration what they got Atkins and Dunlap for, I think the 5 year 25M is where they'll end up. Slag911
5 years 40-45 milion. Badasses like him do not grow on trees. You PAY THE MAN. I never want to picture the bengals D without him. We have cycled through so many LBs like Jones, Rivers, Miller, Pollack, Thurman, Harrison, etc. Even at 10+ million he would be worth every cent spent as long as he is playing. I agree with most of this... The 10+ million, I don't really like... but if that's what it's going to take..so be it. I don't think it will though, I'm thinking..7-9 a year

I think that number is too high. I really like Burfict, but the realities of both his current contract situation and his position say that he will be signed for less than that. He's a young guy who will likely see another big contract before he is done.. He would be wise to take the bigger payday now.
Khatmandude
I think Burfict is the most important extension to get done out of he, AJ and Dalton. Show him how much you appreciate him busting his ass and playing how he did at less than $500k per year avg for the past 2 yrs.
