Arkansas Bengal
Bengals OC: Jeremy Hill 'worthy' of first-team reps By Kevin Patra Around the League writer Published: Aug. 22, 2014 at 11:04 a.m. Updated: Aug. 22, 2014 at 03:58 p.m. Jeremy Hill left last week's preseason game with a shoulder injury. This week the Cincinnati Bengals running back could be shouldering some of the first-team responsibilities in the third preseason game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. "He's worthy of playing with those guys," offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said of Hill playing with the starters, per The Cincinnati Enquirer. Hill has taken snaps behind starter Giovani Bernard and veteran BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Hill had nine carries for 52 yards in two games before leaving with the shoulder injury against the New York Jets -- a 25-17 loss. "I think it definitely would be good," Hill said of working with the starters. "I've just been working with what opportunities the coaches have been giving me. If it is with the ones it would be great, but I'm just going to continue doing what I'm doing." Jackson said he didn't realize Hill had solely been working with the backups in the first two preseason games and isn't that worried about who he's running behind. "As long as he's doing what he needs to do I'm fine," Jackson said. "I think that's a little overrated (that he has to get reps with the first team to be in sync) -- runners run." Jackson said Thursday he is unsure whether Green-Ellis will play Sunday. The running back has missed practice with a hip injury. We expect a healthy Hill to replace Green-Ellis as the "thunder" to Bernard's "lightning." With a solid outing Sunday, the second-round pick could cement that spot. Although, given that Jackson hadn't realized his own running back rotation, perhaps the game reps won't matter much in that battle. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000381757/article/bengals-oc-jeremy-hill-worthy-of-firstteam-reps

T-Dub
Bye bye BJGE. I Hope you find your way back on the cheap. Assuming they go with Peerman and Hewitt makes the 53?

T-Dub
Yep and yep. Works for me. Skeptical as to whether the team will cut him, though.
Le Tigre
The Firm stays...write it down.
WRAPradio
The Firm stays...write it down. IMO it would be more worthwhile to cut him, save the $2.xMM and see if you can front-load another contract extension for someone. With Gio, Hill, Peerman and Rex, I think we're pretty solid at that position. If BJGE was in line to get 200 carries I'd say keep him, but as it stands I think we could use the money elsewhere and get more bang for the buck. I think BJGE stays just as an insurance policy in case Gio or Hill have to miss any time. I like Peerman, but I'd rather see BJGE in pass protection. Le Tigre
Hill especially. Already one shoulder ding. Not that it would become a pattern, but The Firm has been quite durable, so good insurance it would be.
|schotzee|
Do you guys think they will keep him on at his current salary just to be an insurance policy?
Le Tigre
At this stage of the year, salary means little. All of the cap finagling is basically done. His salary is a non-issue until the next off season, when his contract runs out anyway. You will be happy to have him around...I just have this hunch. |schotzee|
You think he would be dressing every week?
Le Tigre
I believe so.
Bgal
I'd rather they keep BJGE. He was one of the only players to really step up during the playoff game and he's dependable. If Gio or Hill get hurt, he's great insurance.
Elijah15
Cut Benjarvus already damnnit, if not he needs to be 3rd string. He's slow and he's not even a power back. Doesn't run over people like he should. Hill plays with nastiness and aggression. Benjarvus has no need anymore
|schotzee|
I think it's safe to say he is third string at best.At least right now.
|schotzee|
I myself don't see him making the cut.

Who Dey Forever
It's early but I could see Gio and Hill becoming the best duo of RB's in the NFL. Saints, Bills,Rams, Broncos, 49ers all have a good combo too. I see Gio becoming a top 5 back this year.
