I know this is off topic, but the other teams forum is kinda dead and wanted this to get attention because I feel its very important news. Very shocked, and never would have imaged Adrian capable of this. But the story includes police photos and it's very damning evidence.

This is a very difficult thing to read.......

After the Ray Rice incident shining major needed light on domestic violence, i feel this will do the same thing for child abuse, specifically physical abuse which unfortunately gets very little attention considering the medias recent fascination and obsession with child sex abuse which has taken a unfortunate forefront leading to the neglect and lack of importance on physical, verbal, and emotional abuse which is all equally has heinous and damaging as sexual abuse.

Sports Radio 610 in Houston obtained from a draft of the police report which says Peterson admitted that he did, in his words, “whoop” one of his children last May while the boy was visiting him in Houston.

When the 4-year-old boy returned to Minnesota, his mother took him to a doctor. The police report said the boy told the doctor Peterson had hit him with a branch from a tree.still

The doctor told investigators that the boy had a number of lacerations on his thighs, along with bruise-like marks on his lower back and buttocks and cuts on his hand.

The police report says the doctor described some of the marks as open wounds and termed it “child abuse.” Another examiner agreed, calling the cuts “extensive.

Peterson told police he considered this “normal spanking”.

Taking into consideration the child’s age this is very excessive and in my mind child abuse.  The fact that Peterson considers drawing blood from a 4-year-old normal is very troubling and speaks to the fact this isn’t the first time he has spanked a child like this. Peterson should be charged and action needs to be taken by the NFL and Vikings. Here are the photos of the child after  switch spanking

4:12 PM PT -- According to the police report, Peterson allegedly sent text messages to the child's mother saying he "felt bad" because he struck the kid in the testicles.

"Got him in the nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I'm all tearing that butt up when needed!" the text said.

Peterson allegedly sent a follow up text saying, "Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has he biggest heart but don't play no games when it comes to acting right."

4:10 PM PT --
According to the police report, the child told authorities he had also been hit by a belt and there were "a lot of belts in daddy's closet."

The child also said AP had put leaves in his mouth when he was being struck and that his pants were down.

3:50 PM PT -- The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for Sunday's game.

3:34 PM PT -- Peterson has issued a statement through his lawyer saying, "The charged conduct involves using a switch to spank his son."

"This indictment follows Adrian's full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgement as a parent to discipline his son."

"He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened."

"He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours."

"Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury."

3:00 PM PT -- The police report on the case includes photos of cuts on the boy's thigh and hands. He also had bruises on his lower back and buttocks, and according to the report ... Peterson admitted punishing him.

One law enforcement source tells TMZ ... Peterson decided to discipline his son by grabbing a branch from a tree -- and then whipping the child on his bare skin. We're told several of the wounds were bleeding when the child went back to his mother.

2:31 PM PT --
The Vikings have issued a statement saying ... "The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson."

"At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin."

Those pictures aren't shocking on their face...until you look at the second one (on the second link), and see how tiny this boy is.  4.  How can a 4 year-old do something that requires that severity of punishment.  And this is coming from someone who was raised with corporal punishment and doesn't think it's pure evil.

I feel like Adrian is a good person who unfortunately hasn't learned enough other ways of communicating and disciplining a child that would make resorting to whacks and hits, smacks, that cause pain and leaves bruises, and breaks the skin.

There's other ways to handle and teach and raise a child with regards to punishment and consequences, physically hurting them is something I don't think is ever necessary in order to get the result you want as a parent.

I don't know AP personally but I wouldn't necessarily assume he is a good person or parent for that matter. I mean the dude has had like at least 7 children by 5 different mothers and has been known to not spend time with a few of them. Obviously he has lived at least somewhat recklessly in that area of his life.

At first I was appalled that he would be indicted for omething as sever as child abuse.. But it's disturbing to me that he considers this a "normal spanking".

I am going to have to change my stance on this and say that I think he has a problem, and it's a good thing that someone did something about this before it went on to long.

That isn't true. It was reported after the fact that he's spent time with all of his kids...except the one he learned about during the season...and he made plans to see that one and sent a check to the mom to make sure he was taken care of until he hit a bye week or offseason to come see him. Then the child passed away.

Sounds like a dad who is a bit inexperienced and did what he was raised on and went a little too far.

My oldest will be 4 in December. What Adrian did to his 4 year old is horrific. I've spanked my child a handful of times, and absolutely hated it each time, but she got the message. And I could never imagine spanking her hard enough to leave a mark. The thought of beating the hell out of her with a switch makes me want to vomit. Absolutely horrible.

Inexcusable. A bit inexperienced? The kid was 4 years old. That's plenty of experience to understand how to raise and discipline a young child. My wife was spanked with a belt when she was a kid, and she would get spanked with it even more for crying too loud. She would NEVER NEVER NEVER do that to our kids. Just because he was raised that way doesn't mean he has to continue the "tradition".

Yeah a couple of visits every year and and a nice check every month should get him some father of the year votes.

It is nice that he was thinking of visiting yet another child he had out of wedlock possibly during a bye week but most certainly in the off season.

Fatherhood 101.

I don't think I called him father of the year. I didn't know you were a bad person for having a child out of wedlock or having multiple children.

And AP is pretty active in his kids lives. He doesn't just ignore them. He inst Antonio Cromartie. I fully believe he will do what he needs to do, change and won't have an issue again.

Yeah, you are an irresponsible MAN if you father multiple children out of wedlock with multiple mothers. I know it isn't politically correct to say it now but it is simply the truth.

You are not going to pretend a guy with 7 children with multiple women is a real father are you?

I don't really care how many children he has or how many women it is with. It isn't my job to judge him. All I care about is he understands what he did wrong, deals with whatever he is sentenced and then changes for the better.

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the childs back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the childs hands. Peterson then texted the boys mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.
Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the childs mother that he felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh and also acknowledged the injury to the childs scrotum in a text message, saying, Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n Im all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!
In further text messages, Peterson allegedly said, Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has the biggie heart but dont play no games when it comes to acting right.
According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that Daddy Peterson hit me on my face. The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that there are a lot of belts in Daddys closet. He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson likes belts and switches and has a whooping room.

How nice.  Your dad visits you every once in a while and when he does, he beats the shit out of you.   Awesome.

This decision to reinstate was made real quick, ...the Vikings are in full panic mode.

Zimmer has already lost his first confidence vote, ...that's not good.

It's never a good thing to be this dependent on one player.

Sucks. I'm rooting for Zimmer to have success over there.
