The United States government is sending thousands of military troops to the west African nation of Liberia as part of the Obama administration's Ebola virus-response strategy, the White House said late Monday night.

'U.S. Africa Command will set up a Joint Force Command headquartered in Monrovia, Liberia, to provide regional command and control support to U.S. military activities and facilitate coordination with U.S. government and international relief efforts,' a statement from the White House press office said.

'A general from U.S. Army Africa, the Army component of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), will lead this effort, which will involve an estimated 3,000 U.S. forces.'

Liberia is the hardest-hit of the four west African nations that have confirmed Ebola cases, accounting for more than one-half of the fatalities. The others are Sierra Leone, Guinea and, to a lesser extent, Nigeria.

This will not end well.

I can easily see Muslim terrorists (who don't even value their own life) heading to the region, intending to GET the virus, then GIVE it to an American Serviceman/woman, knowing full well that the Army will ship them back to the States.... hoping that they can set off a chain reaction that will kill thousands/millions of Americans.

Our military is plenty familiar with germ warfare. They'd be quarantined.

You're right.  You know that.  I know that.  Anyone who values life knows that.

But it won't stop a terrorist from trying it anyway.  Just because the Army will do the right thing doesn't mean that these 3,000 troops aren't going to be carrying 3,000 biological bullseyes on their backs - they will be targeted by death-worshiping terrorists, count on it.

Although not widely published, our troops have already been hit with biological / chemical attacks within our recent past.  The American public IMHO is not ready to see this happening up close and personal.  Remember how scared people were when the Anthrax scare was going around ?  All the duct tape in town dried up and people stopped opening up their mail.  Now, imagine this on a whole new level.  It will be insane.  IMHO

Links?  Agent Orange, DU,  & rumors of fallout from the Salman Pak bombing are the only ones that come to mind immediately, but those weren't deliberate.
