Buckeyes football tix/advice?

I tried this in the buckeyes thread and got one reply (Thanks Michael Weston!). I'll try here now:

Does anybody know of cheap tickets floating around for the buckeyes football game tomorrow? I found a ticketmaster sponsored site that has A level for $40. I'm waiting until the last minute to see what's available. Also waiting on the weather forecast. I need two tickets.

Also would welcome any advice on food and parking since I've never been to the horseshoe. I heard there's plenty of food available outside, but am looking for a place to eat after the game. Either down there or on the way back to Cincy. Also was wondering if I could park close by if I get there early enough. Or should I just park in the big lot and shuttle? I did that for the basketball game last winter. Are there small lots on campus that we can park at and walk around?

I am hoping for kharma to kick in since I have given away or sold a lot of cheap tickets in my day. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'd try to find a student selling a ticket around the stadium, but I don't know how exactly they've cracked down on that since I was a student a decade ago.

As for parking, I'd stay away from the stadium and the lots, if you're not adverse to walking a little in the cold.

If you get there around 1030 or so, you should be able to find a spot on one of the side streets South of campus (so bottom left of this map, where the number 6 is.) About a 10-12 minute walk to the stadium but it will save you $15-20.

Thanks a ton. It would actually be ideal to walk through the campus as part of the experience. I picked this game for a more relaxed atmosphere as opposed to next week. So me and my 11 year old son can soak everything in with a relatively light crowd and without being too nervous about the game.

as for food, there's plenty around all over the area, its just a matter of if you want to get away from the masses a bit and want to sit down and eat or just the normal fast food.

The best gyros I've had were on campus years ago. But I would have to get the boy something else. We'll probably just stop on the way home.

I'd definitely try parking down around the 6 then, cut up North, stroll through the Oval, and then cut left towards the Stadium.

From all that you'll be able to see the South residence halls, the Union, the Oval (which is like a big park like area where folks hang out in nice weather), the Library, and the rec center.

You won't get to see all of campus, but campus is so big that's probably not a realistic possibility on a gameday.

also, I should state that outside of this year's spring game, I haven't been to a game in quite awhile.

So things may be easier or more difficult than I'm telling you.

If you're looking for good pizza, there's a place on 12th sort of ON campus that I'd recommend.   Great pizza, if you're open to eating in the car.

Adriatico's

Usually 25-30 minutes for pickup orders, so I'd maybe call just before you're leaving your seats.

Would be about halfway back to your car, maybe a nice stop to warm up for a second.

It was fun, thanks for asking. That is, when we finally got there. So I was ready to take your advice and get there early and park in south campus. Also, my friend told me that he parked between high and summit a couple games ago so I was going to look in both areas. Unfortunately, some drivers on 71 were having trouble with the roads being a little slick. I didn't think they were bad, but there were a couple accidents. We were parked on 71 by an exit or two past Washington Courthouse so we decided to get off and point the car northeast through the farm land. We almost turned around, but we would've been stuck going south on 71 so we trudged on. We eventually hit 62 and took that into Columbus. But it was an hour before kick-off so we headed for the big lot. Paid $15 for parking, got nosebleeds for $30 a piece, but the seats were fine. The weather was good also once the sun came out halfway through the first quarter. Not cold at all. The game was a little close for my liking. The band was awesome. We talked to some people from cincy. They stayed on the highway and said it took them over 5 hours to get there. It took us a little over 3. But it was worth it. Walked around after the game. Took us under an hour and a half to get home. It was a good day. Thanks again for your help.

good to hear things mostly worked out!  We had freezing rain in Dayton Saturday morning and I imagine that's the same stuff that hit Columbus.  Roads were definitely slick.

Glad you got to walk around a bit and still see some of campus.
