CLEVELAND - Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins made a bold statement while taking the field on Sunday, and the head of the Cleveland Police Union is demanding an apology.

While running out of the tunnel at FirstEnergy Stadium, Hawkins wore a shirt that read, “Justice for Tamir Rice - John Crawford.”

In response, Jeff Follmer Police Patrolman Union President sent newsnet5 the following statement:

It's pretty pathetic when athletes think they know the law. They should stick to what they know best on the field. The Cleveland Police protect and serve the Browns stadium and the Browns organization owes us an apology.

Browns cornerback Johnson Bademosi wore a shirt that read, “I Can’t Breathe” last Sunday while warming up before playing the Indianapolis Colts in protest of a grand jury's decision not to indict the officer involved in the death of Eric Garner.

Bademosi was joined by other famous athletes wearing the shirt during warm-ups including LeBron James, Kyrie Irving , Reggie Bush and Derrick Rose.

During Ferguson protests, St. Louis Rams players exited the tunnel at the Edward Jones Dome with their hands up , a symbolic sign for “hands up, don’t shoot.”

The union head of the St. Louis Police also demanded an apology, one that it did not receive from the Rams organization.

None of the players protesting have received punishment from the NFL or NBA.

He is old enough to know that pointing any type of gun is going to induce panic with people these days. Sure it was a "toy" gun but real guns come in a variety of colors. It obviously scared somebody because they called 911. Moral of the story, don't put yourself in a situation where you even have to deal with the cops and you won't have a problem with them.

Meanwhile the "2nd Amendment Patriots" who couldn't give a shit less about the rest of our Constitution, or even give a halfassed accounting of the rest of our Bill of Rights, can walk in a Chipotle strapped with whatever real, actual bullet-firing tacticool Mall Ninja rifle they want and we're all supposed to go on eating our burritos. So long as they are white, of course.

We should all just be like Smizno and always drive the speed limit, always use your turn signals, never run a red light, etc.

Because obviously if you let your parking meter expire you're just asking to be shot down in the street like a rabid dog. Don't want to be choked to death on the sidewalk? Don't commit petty victimless crimes! Or, y'know, be accused of one. In fact it's probably better if you just stay inside, watch cable news, and do a lot of online shopping.

That's being generous.

I can't believe the ways people justify their own fucked up mentality.

And it's sad that there are people with your mentality amongst us.....goes to show how these injustices can go by without any sort of accountability....because of people like you who justify blatantly wrong actions with bullshit like the above.
