assuming two comp picks, a 3rd for MJ and a 4th for Collins...

1. Cam Erving OL Florida State 6'5 315- this kid went from a starting DT to an all-american LT on a national championship team and then to an all-american C all within a span of three years, there's just not many athletes out there can pull off something like that.....might be a tad early for him here since he doesn't really have one true position, but you can bet your ass that he'll never get past the likes of Seattle and NE at the end of rd 1, he's exactly their kind of player, which should tell ya something....plug and play o-linemen that can play any one of the five spots don't exactly grow on trees.....5 best guys play period, this guy makes the entire group better..

2. Danielle Hunter DE/OLB LSU 6'5 252- the LSU connection comes through once again.....just like the OT's in this draft, all of these edge rushers are going to grade out pretty similarly, it's just going to depend on each teams personal preferences....forget the fact that this kid's EASILY one of the most athletic players in this entire draft, his character and intangibles are absolutely off the charts, and the fact that he comes from a program that the Bengals coaches have such a close relationship with ultimately makes him a no-brainer here if he's still available.

3. Preston Smith DE Miss St 6'5 270- prototypical Bengals DE, tall, lanky and athletic with plenty of room to add bulk.

3. Gabe Wright DT Auburn 6'3 300- more beef for the middle of that d'line....better pass rusher than run stuffer at this point but the potential is there to be a contributor early.

4. Stefon Diggs WR/KR Maryland 6'0 195- meet your new kick returner/slot receiver.....absolutely electric with the ball in his hands.

4. Jeff Heuerman TE National Champs 6'5 255- with Gresham gone they're gonna need some more bodies at that spot....Heuerman is just a solid all-around TE with prototypical size and starting potential down the line.

5. JaCorey Shepherd CB Kansas St 5'11 200
6. Chris Hackett FS TCU 6'0 195
7. Shaq Riddick OLB West Virginia 6'6 236

It's certainly possible but everybody can't go early....inevitably, guys "fall", without fail.

Preston Smith in particular is Will Clarke 2.0 IMO....this time last year he was getting play as a late riser just like Smith is now.....didn't happen.

and it's hard to put a truly good mock together IMO if you don't project at least some "surprises" along the way, even if they're just minor ones.......that's the way it happens with the real thing after all, rarely does it ever go the way all of the prognosticators envision it.

I like Erving, very versatile player. Hunter reminds me of Manny Lawson, a guy who didn't work out well in this defense, he's too light to play DE in a 4-3 imo, especially on running downs. I think Smith is a 2nd round pick at worst, teams like Seattle that pick late in the draft will be all over this guy. I like Gabe Wright, reminds me of Geno in his strength and ability to push the pocket, however I don't think he makes it out of the 3 round, he's too good to last to the 4th round imo.

Also, have the comp picks been announced yet?

I hear ya but those are the exact same kind of things that were being said about Will Clarke last year and Brandon Thompson before him......like I said, not everyone can be top picks, someone has to get squeezed out....they always do.

and no comp pick announcements yet..
