What would you do?

You win the ultimate Powerball of all time times five. You now have the money to buy a NFL team and you just so happen to buy your favorite team, the Bengals.

With full control what are your first few moves with players or coaches(trades, early round picks in the upcoming draft)?

My first outside the box move to try and get this team over the mountain top will be to place Dalton and our 1st round pick at 21 up on the trading block right after Mariota is drafted. Heck if had too, offer Dalton and our first two or three picks for Mariota.

First 3 items.

1)  Hire a GM

2)  Replace Head Coach and applicable staff...they send the message that anyone is replaceable gets extra 2-3 wins first year.

3)  Find a QB.....I am not saying its not Andy...but after 5 years you have to decide if he is the guy once and for all.  Fix the problems.

Then I will place Newman, Nugent, Tate, and Campbell on the trading block and will be getting two more picks for those players.

lol....Maybe a 10th rounder for all four...

I would try to hire someone that know how to run the team. New head coach..

And then sit in my luxury box with some of my dumbass friends...  Give all/most of you fools season tickets..

I like your idea of making things cheaper for the fans.

1. Sign Terrance Knighton in FA.

2. Sign Newman to 1 year vet minimum and Mauluga again to 2 years 6.5 million.

3. Cut Peko, Cut Geathers, and Ask Leon to Restructure.

4. Package our 21st pick and 3rd rounder to move up and get the last good 4-3 DE availible in the draft, if need be.

5. Sign AJ Green long term, front load his contract to this year when we have the cap space.

6. Go win a superbowl.

I'd hire an former cruise/casino hospitality director and charge them with making PBS a first class football fan destination on game days.

I'd set a goal of 10 years to get 120 wins, championship, and expand real attendance to 70k+

Launch marketing blitz to recapture our football market from other football franchises. Columbus, Dayton, Batesville, Louisville, Lexington, Huntington, Charleston. Make that region solid Bengal Orange.

All other fans shall be rounded up and put into special camps.

Start youth organizations that honor Paul Brown.

Get major political control and launch an attack on the CFL and convert their fans to Bengal fans.

Then ultimately set my focus on Europe and the destruction of soccer.

Mariota is such an unknown. Took almost all of his snaps from shotgun in college. Spread.

If your going to go up and get any qb in this draft it had to be Winston. Even then, I wouldn't trade the future away for a kid with questionable maturity.

If I had control of the direction of this team, I'd change the offensive philosophy. Get rid of the quick release on offense and move to a more vertical philosophy. We have two receivers and a tight end who are down the field ball players. Id probably run the ball about 55 percent of the time as well. We have a top 5 back in the nfl and a guy who could play off of him in a Darren sproles role. My first pick this year is probably on the offensive line.

On defense, I'm using some cap dollars to bring in Greg hardy. Exceptional teammate and a little bit crazy. I'm looking to infuse some youth into the linebacker corps and probably using my second round pick there if the draft shakes out that way.

The first thing I would do after next year is go balls to the wall after urban meyer. His favorite professional team and he seems like he may want to make the jump at some point. If anyone is going to get his guys amped to go in the big game, it's urban. Inevitably that could fix your Andy problem. Even if he plays like poop, if the rest of the team is full go, he doesn't have to be great, he just has to take care of the ball. If Andy poops down his leg this year, id take a long hard look at Bradford.

I like this.. But there also needs to be a focus on football operations. I think the groundwork is already in place. I would make Tobin Head of Personnel, Marvin Lewis Head of Football Operations and leave Katie in her current role of managing the financials, formalizing the 3 headed GM we currently have in place and taking the in-game stuff out of Marvin's hands (since that seems to be what he is weakest at). I would then hire a new head coach, opening up the process to outside interviews. If we have the guy in house already, so be it. Give that guy and the 3 headed GM the keys to the franchise, hire Scharm as Marketing Director to inact his goals of world domination, then sit back and relax...

We can't get rid of the quick release on offense it's the only thing Dalton is good at. When he knows exactly who to throw it too before the snap. And of course the throw is a quick hitch to the wr or flat to the te. Daltons pocket presence is garbage and I can't recall the last time he made a play once he escaped the pocket. Back to fantasy world. Id fire Marvin Lewis yesterday. ZERO fucking playoffs wins in 12 years is unexceptible. I still can't believe he's still here. I'd hire a GM , reverse the helmet colors and make it Matte black and I'd lock AJ Green, Marvin Jones, Illoka long term asap. And I'd sign JPP to a hugh contract no matter the cost. We need him badly. in the draft get a LB like Kendricks or Perryman in rnd 2 and OT Collins, Wr Parker, DE Owa, or Dt Brown in round 1.

I love all these new owners listing all the players they would trade, prospects they would draft and free agents they would sign, when in the real world, it's these types of meddling owners that most of us look at and realize are the problem with their respective teams.

I say find the guys who are the best in the world at what they do and let them do it.. I don't need to fool myself into thinking I am one of them.

I would go 3 headed as well.    Football,  Financial,  Fan

On the Football deal.  1 weakness I think the Bengals show are coaches scouting.   I would still have them scout and have a say.   I would staff up to have an idependent evaluation over the coaches eval.

Coaches are teachers.   They get to know their players.   Fight for them.  Fight with them.   Very much like family.    At some point that player isn't going to be able to play or needs a kick in the ass.  Some coaches can seperate but I'd have that black hat looming over and having a say.

Financial -  Hard to say without ever seeing the books.   But I suspect the profit demands would need to be cut to invest more into Football and Fan.

Fan - IMO, the sports entertainment world has changed.  Price is a factor.  Entertainment options are a bigger factor.    Last preseason went to Colts game on a Thursday.  Wouldn't have gone but they make you buy tickets.    Bought dinner at the stadium for about $30.   Sucked.  Overpriced everything. Had to go back to drop another  $20 because still hungry.  Next night went to Casino.   Place is much nicer .  Easy FREE parking.  Easy access.  Eat Dinner $30 at Bobby Flays burger stand.   100 times better with more.

Why the Casino?  Well we spent money there a few months ago and they gave "free" money, lol to come back.    The amount of money spent at the Casino wouldn't even cover 2 games at PBS.   Really?  That amount of money and they are sending us discounted meals, buffets, free play just to come back?

"Find a QB."

"Replace  head coach."

"Hire a GM."

Wow, I never realized how easy it was to fix a football team's problems. :good3:

Maybe you guys should run for President and just make comments like "I will fix the economy and solve the conflict in the Middle East."

If I were the owner, I'd not worry about this season or even next, but put my nose down and keep doing what they've been doing to build a very successful team, knowing that at the end of this year I'll still have a solid roster from top to bottom and the ability to give it an old shot of nitro at the end of this season if I decide to move on from Andy and Marvin.

I would also take a swing at a big FA or two, because I've seen that my team is missing some authority in a couple of key places and I know that this year I have some $$ space to make that happen.

If I didn't bring Marvin back, I'd hope to find him a place in the FO.  But I'd still reward Duke Tobin with a GM position for the great work he's done several years running (or whatever else would make both he and Marvin happy if they both wanted to be here).

In other words, I'd do what exactly what I imagine Mike Brown WILL do.

Candidates for a position and an actual owner as presented are two different things.

Make Tobin the official GM

Create a position for Marvin as some sort of director of public/community relations, publicity and player relationships (sort of like what Eric Ball did/does only with more teeth and hands on working with immature and potential "problem" players ie Pacman for one) to help them adapt the  Cincinnati community and NFL in general including advice on financial management.  For all of my Marvin bashing, I think he does a lot of really good stuff only is not very good on the sidelines.  I would involve him with the running of the team as some sort of "coaching assistant/consultant" to keep a professional football bond with the players and not just be like a kiddies' pal junior high guidance counselor.

New head coach (duh) and not necessarily one from within or with Bengal/Brown family ties which is the way it is pretty much done.  I would make head coaching experience a high priority (think Forrest Greg) but not a carved in stone requirement.

I would "encourage" a more streamlined power draft of sorts.  Package lower picks and perhaps players to move up and have fewer draft choices but mostly in the first three rounds, if possible, and move up in rounds to target better players. Try to make training camp more for training than a process of eliminating dead wood and fringe players.

Concessions are franchised out and not controlled by the Bengals.  I would be more involved with the bidders to make the food and drink better quality and far more reasonably priced.  Ie bring back Montgomery Inn pulled pork barbecue and Johnsonville bratts and metts.

I would cut about 85% of the superfluous crap and advertisements to put the focus more on the game and less on the froo froo... I really give a rat's ass if when we get inside the 20 a truck skids across the Jumbotron and tells me we entered the Toyota red zone.  The piped music is too loud and annoying and moronic. (anyone catch the quick sound bite from the movie The Warriors soundtrack? way cool)... less or even none is better.  I would bring college marching bands back for every half time (anyone remember when Ohio State had a pregame concert on Fountain Square and marched to the stadium leading the Bengals fans with them... FANTASTIC!) ... Ohio State for Cleveland games, OU and UC annually and other college bands.  Marching bands at halftime IS football.  No more Mascot Bowls or rugby scrums or kids playing flag football etc but the frizbee dogs are cool especially when ridden my monkeys and Johnny Manzel.  Bring the live tiger back to the sidelines (have him accidentally escape on the visitors side when we play Pittsburgh)... extra credit for cubs.  Strict enforcement and a quick hook for obnoxious visiting fans (think Pittsburgh)... a number of people come with families and none of us come for that crap.  I bet those jack offs don't act like that in their homes and resent those who do.  Find a way to add more and enlarge the rest rooms, pipe the radio coverage in to them to at least keep up somewhat on the games.  In other words... me, personally, I go to watch the games and can do without a lot of the other shit.

To be continued...

I would move pro shop to other area of the stadium. Then franchise that space out to bw3. Year round open pre and post game special with bar seats and tables on reserve for game days. Convertible dance floor and drop down disco for post game celebrations. DJ dirty elbows would spin your favorite tunes or live 80s/90s cover band.

Of course a concession window to serve fans in regular seating bowl.

Have a game day app so I can get real time injury updates but have linked to credit card so I can order from my seat and pick up at designated concession stand.

Get rid of 2 beer sale limit. Institute the growlers of 38 oz draft beer served in Bengal shaped cup.

Or maybe a 78 oz beer and call it the Munoz

If I had the money to buy any NFL team it would probably be one in a more lucrative market and/or with less spitefully entrenched fans.

Realistically speaking, I mean.. I'm looking for a return on my investment. I guess I'm not a redeemer, y'know?

Otherwise I'll just echo what others have said - hire people that know wtf they're doing and watch the team on Sundays from my hunting/fishing lodge in the middle of BFE hoping they get it right.

I'd still shitcan Alexander though.
