Any guys you are surprised are there still that we should go after.  Three for me are Zach brown.  Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson.

Yeah I've been wondering why Brown is still available. He seemed to be one of the best LBs on the market outside of the guys that would break the bank that we would obviously never target.

As far as Barwin my friend who lives in Philly and is a Eagles fan said the following....

"First of all, he's a stellar human being first and foremost. Very talented, great guy, great guy in the community who does so much. He's not an Eagle today due to salary cap implications. You want him and he's the guy that I'll cheer for even if he suited up for Dallas.

As far as play...He's good. Last season was down for him due to the change in defensive scheme, which is oh so common when you switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3.
We're all sad he's gone, but we understand the business"

and playing for us vs Philly ...   "And used more properly than what Jim Schwartz did here last year.   Or so I'd hope. He'd become my favorite Bengal if signed."   "Yeah he was a Bearcat, yes. Even better. I think of him far more than just a football player. The man he is, is so great for the community. Always rode public transportation to the stadium, too. Very humble. You really want this guy."   (Me) as long as the play matches the community involvement   "Well, his play and heart are on the field. He's an all pro with his service. He's the kind of guy that would get a standing O here upon returning."

You're friends with Barwin's mom? Just kidding. Good stuff.

Charles coming off ACL and Peterson wants paid like 2010 petersone.. that would be my guess why those two aren't signed.

I know it's not likely, but there are a lot of UFA CBs out there that could be signed. Darqueze Dennard looked pretty bad out there last year, I wouldn't mind seeing them add a cheap-ish vet to the roster.

Let me make my case for a specific player here...Patrick Robinson.

1. He was cut. CUT! No need for Mike Brown to worry about those comp picks being interfered with.

2. Robinson turns 30 so he won't need a long contract and he's the perfect stop gap that would come on the cheap, cheap, cheap, just how we like them! Is there a better reclamation project position than CB to the Bengals? Nope! Why is he not already on our roster? One of the injuries he suffered was a concussion and our head coach doesn't believe in concussions, so let's do it.

3. He's 1 year removed from the following: 5.0 yards per target (3rd in the league in 2015) overall and allowed ZERO TDs and a 67.7 passer rating against from the slot.

I feel like Robinson has "SIGN ME BENGALS!!!!!!" written all over him for so many reasons. We just re-signed Dre Kirk and we have WJIII waiting who are both outside specialists. I was hyped for Dennard coming out of college but he didn't look great last year whatsoever, he looked slow and lost when he was put in the slot CB role. Shaw is an overhyped message board hero. Am I saying that Dennard and Shaw are lost causes? Not at all, they certainly could both improve to be quality 4-5 on the depth chart players that we keep around. However, I feel like we need that lock down slot CB that we lost when Leon Hall took a step out of his prime a couple of years back. Leon Hall played like the best slot CB in the league and we always had a top defense around that time period, hmmmmm, I'm guessing he had a lot to do with it. Not saying it was ALL having a good slot CB, but I think it's an often overlooked part of our defensive scheme.

IF Robinson has that nagging groin injury taken care of, sign him yesterday Cincinnati. Please?

1. He was cut by the Colts just to save $2.5M and they have a massive need for quality CBs. If his current team that saw him every day in practice didn't think he had even minimal value, that should speak pretty loudly.

2. PFF ranked him 94 out of 112 CBs last year with a 51.1 grade. "Message board hero" Josh Shaw was ranked over 30 spots higher with a grade of 73.0. Shaw's also 5 years younger. I'm not seeing how this is likely to be an upgrade.

3. Bene Benwikere was the cheap veteran slot CB signing. It already happened. He was good a couple years back with Carolina and we got him for the minimum to compete with Shaw and Dennard.

Robinson's last year healthy (just 2 years ago, not ancient history or anything) was better than anything Josh Shaw or Bene Benwikere have done in their careers combined.

Good players are cut sometimes. It doesn't mean somebody is terrible or can't be a depth upgrade just because a team cut them, and I'd definitely not cite the Colts franchise as always making correct decisions at that.

I couldn't care less about his PFF grade last year, he was banged up and barely played. Josh Shaw is a nice depth player that is WAY overrated on message boards and Bengals social media in general. I think he's a quality young guy out there, but I was speaking of Robinson to replace Dennard more so than Shaw.

Dre - WJIII - Robinson - Shaw - Dennard sounds better to me than Dre - WJIII - Dennard/Shaw - Dennard/Shaw - Benwikere

Benwikere was signed before Robinson was available, so all I'm saying is I wouldn't mind if the Bengals checked him out. If he's cleared from the injury problems, he could be an upgrade in a spot that a lot of fans underrate. Not every CB is meant to be a slot CB, and with Dre and WJIII manning the outside, we wouldn't have to ask Robinson to play outside of his comfort zone of the slot.
