Renegotiate his contract with a "stay out of bars" clause. If seen in a bar, spotted by cameras in a bar, etc...INSTANTLY cut from team, all bonuses forfeited.

ha ha ha.. just try a "don't get fucking arrested you stupid fuck clause" or you're cut

Only conclusion that I can draw from these comments is that the Bengals brass still thinks Pac man can play at a high level.  Personally, I don't agree.  I would rather wash my hands of him and use the money we save on someone more deserving.  He is an embarassment, plain and simple.  Unfortunately, he will get another chance because he has talent.  There is still a looming suspension to deal with, along with the remaining misdemeanor charges.  All the more reason to cut the cord, IMO.

Would someone post a link of this "looming suspension"? I have looked all over and find nothing. The closest thing was Deters punting to the league to do something before he would prosecute. And that was in January.

Even if the legal system wasn't pursuing a THING about all of this, Goodell could arbitrarily suspend him for "conduct detrimental"...and he probably will too. Which adds even MORE fuel to the "why the fuck are we bothering with this old DB with massive on and off field issues anymore"?

And Kenneth, I'm honestly surprised at you. Are you seriously just dismissing EVERYTHING, on and off the field, to defend this guy? He's been given a bunch of chances. His play no longer justifies his salary. What does this say to the rest of the team? "Oh, don't worry, you can continually fuck up and as long as you have kids to support Mike Brown will keep you around"?

Bung, I don't think anyone condones his actions on that night, specifically his words in the police car, but at this point, with the exception of what was said, it doesn't appear that the rest is much more than a tempest in a tea pot.  You and most of the folks on this board, have not one inkling of the man in that skin, you simply look at the caricature you've been presented and think you can judge someone based on that.  I personally have spent some time, albeit not a ton, with Adam on some charitable things and he's a good man.  I said originally that if he had done what they said he did, he should be gone, but it truly doesn't seem like he has.  What I do know, is that the people that know him best, Mike and Marvin, still support him and my guess is they have a much greater understanding of the entire situation than any of us on the outside.

It seems from personal reports and from some of the online stuff I've seen him do, Adam Jones can be a decent guy.  Unfortunately, he continually gets himself in bad situations.  Not once or twice, but over and over again.  Combine that with the business realities of the NFL, his age, and potentially diminishing skills it makes sense to get rid of him.  The money could have been used to potentially keep one of the FAs that bolted and it would be a step in the right direction for the Bengals to say we aren't going to accept this kind of nonsense.

You are very right that we really don't know these people, but the actions of Adam Jones should have consequences.

Fluhartz, I generally give you a pass, and don't respond to your stuff, but since you seem to not understand me, I will educate you.  I don't really give a shit about black or white when I say "man in that skin", I am simply referring to the fact that YOU and many others only see a football player or an entertainer, and not a father, husband, friend, brother, uncle etc.  If I met you, I would hope that I had the sense to evaluate the man in your skin, and not judge you off the caricature of you that I see on here.

I mean come on man..You can give a dude more than one chance...but geez..Not 20

I don't care if you met him and he was the nicest guy in the world...He has issues and isn't worth the trouble anymore

Good.  Then now it's just your opinion and mine.  You're entitled to yours and I'm entitled to mine, and the fact that they aren't the same is what makes message boards good.  I personally see zero reason to make the decision to cut him now.  If he's suspended, like I suspect, we'll get the cap relief for that part of the season, and he gives us a solid, although not as great as in the past, corner to fall back on if WJ3 or Dennard cannot step up.

Dude has been arrested more times in a calendar year than a lot of us have been in our entire lives.

But yeah, we're probably just all a bunch of judgmental, dickhead racists.

I'm sure Adam is a good person but he has a self control problem imho.

How many times does a guy have to "mess up" before he's not a "good person" anymore?  (Jamie, this isn't necessarily directed at you.  :) )

I have liked Adam since he got here and seemed to be doing ok.  I forgave him for the playoff incident because Porter was the dude at fault.  But he's certainly standing oin the line now if he hasn't crossed it.

Also, it's kind of funny how things have changed.  I remember back in 2006 when we had a guy getting arrested every other week and no one cared.  "Just win, baby".  Now everyone wants to dump Adam Jones.

The playoff incident is part of why I say he has a self control problem. Even if Porter did what he did you have to have enough self awareness to know what the repercussions of you reacting are, that extends itself to this off the field stuff.

So when Pacman got kicked out of the Horseshoe(a casino in which he was previously banned) for being racist to a Korean dealer, that was ok or when he was escorted out of the Rising Sun for being a jackass that's obviously not his fault. Or any of the other 7-8 times he's gotten arrested, it's the whole city of Cincinnati that's against him...Pacman vs. the world. How is that every other player on the Bengals seem to avoid these type of incidents but him?

This is over 10 years old, but still very relevant:

Quote

The following are incidents in which Adam "Pacman" Jones, or people allegedly associated with him, have been involved since the Tennessee Titans drafted him in April 2005. There is only one charge pending against Jones.

July 13, 2005: Two weeks before training camp is scheduled to begin, Jones is arrested by Nashville police at Titans headquarters. He is charged with assault and felony vandalism stemming from a nightclub altercation.

Sept. 5, 2005: Six days before the season opener at Pittsburgh, Jones attends the annual Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Later, Jones has a loud, verbal tantrum when told he must wait in line for his vehicle, according to witnesses. He does not pay for valet service.

Oct. 25, 2005: Five days before the eighth game of the season, it is alleged by the state of West Virginia that Jones has violated the terms of his probation, going back to a suspended sentence after a barroom brawl during his freshman year at college. A judge extends his probation 90 days.

Feb. 6, 2006: Jones is arrested in Fayetteville, Ga., and charged with possession of marijuana. He is handcuffed after throwing a punch at an officer, according to police, and charged with a felony count of obstruction and two misdemeanors of obstructing police. The drug charge is dismissed in January 2007, although his mother Deborah and a friend, Marcus Bowens, are convicted of possession of marijuana. Jones will appear in court later this month to face the obstruction charges.(makes his mom take the fall, what a stand up guy)..

March 23, 2006: A Fayette County drug task force SWAT team serves a search warrant at the Georgia home Jones bought for his mother. When Jones steps out of his Corvette, a drug investigator notices that the car reeks of marijuana. Jones admits to police he has been smoking and that it will be several weeks before he is able to pass a drug test.

April 18, 2006: According to Nashville police, who cite surveillance camera footage, Jones is one of 12 people gathered at a gas station when a fight breaks out and gunshots are fired.

Aug. 25, 2006: Jones is arrested in Murfreesboro, Tenn., for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. At the Sweetwater Saloon, he is accused of assault by Toya Garth, who says Jones spit in her face and she spit back. A judge sentences Jones six months probation provided he stays out of further trouble.

Oct. 26, 2006: Jones is cited for misdemeanor assault at Club Mystic, a Nashville nightclub, where he allegedly spits in the face of a female college student. He is suspended for one game by the Titans, on Nov. 5 at Jacksonville.

Feb. 19, 2007: Jones is present when an early morning brawl breaks out at Minxx Gentlemen's Club in Las Vegas. Three people are shot. Club co-owner Robert Susnar claims the shooter -- still at large -- acted on Jones' behalf. Jones denies this. No charges have been brought against Jones.

We all know how the Vegas incident turned out.

Anyone that tries to defend the actions of a career criminal, a 33 year old man that has been arrested 9 times in the past 10 years, losses any and all credibility with most logical law abiding citizens. There is no grand conspiracy to make Pacman look like a moron who can't keep himself out of the back of a squad car, it's his actions that put him there. The fact that the leadership of the Bengals continually enable this guy is ridiculous and shows the level of ineptitude that currently exist within the organization.

Please don't make this about race, it's about being responsible for your actions and respecting others.

lolz...you spent a few hours with the guy so you can vouch for his character, that's a clown statement bro..you come off like a cleat chasing, jock sniffing, grown man wearing another grown man's jersey fan boy that is incapable of a rational opinion about his favorite football player that happens to be a world class POS.

Well I've met him too and he was a douchebag. I know people that sell him weed and others that have met him and they say he's an arrogant dickhead who thinks he's better than others. Sure he bought some bikes for the kids in Zone 15 but he's still acting like a complete asshole, hell Nino Brown gave out turkeys for Thanksgiving but sold crack in the community.

He's a liability on and off the field, only the inept leadership of the Bengals would employ his guy after his 10th arrest in the past 15 years. He could not even work for most companies with his arrest record, but the Bengals will pay him millions of dollars to represent the city...it's a joke.
