this is just a link to the Ravens board where they say it is being reported through a couple news outlets there that the Ravens and Bengals will be opening up the Monday Night Football schedule on 9/10. Could be BS

sorry edited - it looks like the game will be in Cincy from what "they" say

I find it hard to believe but dont doubt it. The one guy is reporting it as fact when the shedule doesnt come out for about three weeks.

Looking back to last yr and comparing to this season:

The Colts will open on Thursday night

The Monday double header last yr was Vikes @ Skins, Chargers @ Raiders, so no real precedent that you had to have a great record to get that date and time slot.

The only down side is McNair might not be hurt yet like I know he will by the time we play them again.

While the entire schedule doesn't come out for a few more weeks, I remember them doing an early annoucement of prime time games for NBC, ESPN, and NFLN.

Typically it is this owners meeting that these things are annouced to the ownership group, I guess.

this is good for several reasons:

1. I already have tickets for face value.
2. I dont have to spend a trillion dollars on MNF tickets to go to Balt.
3. Means the @ Balt game is later in year meaning I have a hotel hookup again, sept/oct = no hotel.
4. its SWEEEEEET.

Probabally true plus tickets will be cheaper later in the year when they are out of it. :headbang:
Have the Bengals ever opened their season on Monday night before?
Hell, when's the last time the Bengals opened the season at home? San Diego, 4 or 5 years ago? In that article, the knob mentions it being the first MNF at home since Miami, but that was a Sunday night, if I'm not mistaken. Denver would be the last one. Wait a minute, check the calendar, is it April 1st?

Got this off the Ravens board. The guy who posted only had one post on their site. Not sure what to make of that, but FWIW:

Ravens Insider
Yep, Ravens open IN Cincinnati on 9/10 as part of ESPN MNF (7pm).

I'm hearing the change was made (from the game being played in Baltimore to being played in Cincinnati) in part because the first draft of the NFL TV schedule had the Ravens playing the Bengals at home on night national TV and it also had the Ravens playing another division foe at home on night national TV and some individuals at the owner's meetings questioned the fairness of that. So the switch was made late yesterday to move the game to Cincinnati.

I think the NFL has real work to do to make sure this 2007 Ravens schedule is "fair". After all, they have three west coast road trips this season and travel and fatigue play a major role in how the season unfolds. It's up to the league to make sure those three road games are spread out evenly. The baseball team plays on the road on both the 16th and 23rd, then the Yankees are in town on Sunday, Sept. 30. How about a home game on 9/16, then a west coast game on 9/23? I would say it would then be logical to have a 9/30 Monday Night home game (giving the club 8 days off after a 3,000 mile road trip), but the league would likely not put Baltimore on their MNF schedule twice in the first four weeks of the season, right?

So we'll just wait and see how fairly the Ravens are treated on 4/5 when the schedule is released.

Regards,

DF
If someone wants to do the legwork to see if any of these are the season opener, here's the whole Bengals MNF history:

reading the rest of that article it sounds like the revenue sharing thing isnt going our way.

We will still get money but not as much as we could since one qualifer is no money if moved into new stadium in last 10 yrs.

I hate the argument from the big revenue teams of "you need to maximize your value better in your fan base"

to me this makes no sense, the bengals are in the top 5 of merchandise sales in the league but their pool is alot smaller than say dallas, we are maximizing we just have alot less people to help increase revenue.

We sell out all our games which was another qualifier, at least 90% attendance or no money.

it says the got 2 mil in sharing but that was offset by other spending, 2 mil isnt a whole lot to me
