-- From Bengals PR: The Bengals today signed safety Nick Turnbull to the practice squad. Turnbull (6-2, 222; Florida International) is a second-year NFL player. He entered the NFL in 2006 as a college free agent with Atlanta and played in two games. He also played in one game for Chicago, after being acquired by the Bears on waivers. He returned to Atlanta via waivers on May 9 of this year. He played in one preseason game for the Falcons, was waived/injured on Aug. 28, and was waived from Atlanta’s Reserve/Injured list on Oct. 25.
He looks like a serial killer. At least he can do double duty at the team Halloween party!

looks like Turnbull is 6-2, 215lbs and ran a 4.55 40 at the combine. Listed as a free safety Caught this note: Turnbull was the talk of the workout. ''The kid has great athletic ability, great size and great hands,'' one AFC scout said.

Sounds a lot like Kilmer, except he already knows the position.

draft analysis from SI on Turnblull.

positives...nice sized safety with excellent computer numbers. hard hitting run defender who really
delivers the knockout blow. Exlposive up the field, takes good angles to the action and wraps up tackling.

negatives...
straight line defensive back who has difficulty redirecting to the action. better making plays downhill than
in reverse....lacks top closing speed...

anaylsis...
an imposing prospect on the field..Turnbull was never the dominate defender people thougt possible.
Needs to round out his game to have any chance of sticking in the NFL..

Projection
Free agent

sounds like the kid needs alot more work in coverage. he doesnt seem to have the fluid hips in comverage that Lewis talked about.. can you teach that? might project as a very good ST player though

Sounds like a poor man's Sabby Piscitelli. Workout freak, can't turn his hips well, but can run straight ahead fast, and is big.
In addition, this afternoon the Bengals released safety Jesse Daniels of LSU from the practice squad. Daniels had been signed to the practice squad on Dec. 5. And they signed defensive tackle Titus Adams (6-4, 305), a first-year NFL player from Nebraska. Adams entered the NFL in 2006 as a seventh-round draft choice of the New York Jets. He opened the season on the Jets practice squad and was signed to the New York Giants’ 53-player roster on 12-6-06. He was inactive with the Giants for the final five games of the regular season, and for the Giants’ playoff game at Philadelphia. He opened the 2007 preseason with the Giants and was obtained by San Diego on waivers on Aug. 20. He was waived by San Diego on Sept. 1.
built like a pass rushing DT but plays like a run stopper .
wears down easy, easy to block by lesser opponents sometimes, not much of a pass rusher
best at stopping the run ,, good pad level..quick burst
projected as a 5th round pick.
Scouting Report Titus Adams

Pros: He is a naturally big man that has massive thighs and wide base plus the agility to be effective within the tackle box. He is a very thick, fairly mobile tackle that fits well in a zero or one-technique role. He has above average mobility for his size and will give chase very well when the play is to the outside and will make a play on the perimeter.

Cons: He will take plays off at times and conditioning is a concern. He has adequate initial quickness at the snap, especially for one so large, although he is heavy-legged and can struggle making plays outside the box late in the game.

Numbers: As a senior, he made 50 tackles with five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. At the Combine, he did 15 reps in the 225-pound bench press and ran a 5.13 time with a 30.5-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-7 broad jump.

That big of a dude only benching 225 15 times?

Ouch. Doesn't seem to be very strong.
Yeah, I think he would have been better off not
even lifting. It does say that conditioning is a
concern. So maybe that`s his problem. I`m trying
to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Toeaina benched it 26 times at the combine.
But didn't participate in agility drills because of an Achilles problem.

Whoa, ...whoa, ...whoa, ...Big Toe had an achilles problem at one time? Oooooh, ...that's a ticking time bomb! If that's accurate then we are lucky he left when he did. Spikes was never the same. Hartwell looks like he won't be back to original form. That thing could go at anytime. That's a risky problem to have for any team or player. Good luck to him!
