Also, if what I just read regarding Welker (who's on the same list) is true, if Welker is on the list for more than a week, he won't count against the 80 man cap number even when he comes back. http://bostonherald....position=recent

Rules -
The Active PUP is for players that have some form of injury that will prevent them from starting training camp.
If placed on Active PUP, a player can rehab and participate in team meetings but cannot practice.
A player has to be placed on Active PUP before he begins training camp, so that's why you're seeing the stories popping up now.
A player on Active PUP can be removed from the list at any time during camp.
A player on Active PUP counts against the league mandated roster limit (currently 80).
And one of the most important rules, a player must be on Active PUP in order to be considered for Reserve PUP.
At the end of preseason, if an Active PUP player is still several weeks away from being able to play, the team may place him on Reserve PUP.
Reserve PUP players are not eligible to play for the first six weeks of the season.
Reserve PUP players do not count against the 53 man roster.
Reserve PUP players have a three week window after Week 6 to practice with the team but a roster decision must be made, either to activate to the 53 or to IR the player, within that timeframe.

And from what I gather from Shaun Smith's reply, "stopit", not sure I believe Willie's statement.

Collins could barely pass block on the right side. Yeah, let's put him on the left to watch Carson's blind side. That sounds like a great idea.
This move Whit shit is so fucking moronic I can barely stand it anymore. The guy is a franchise left tackle. They don't grow on trees.

Yeah..because the line was so good last year with that All pro tackle Whit on the blind side..It's a wonder we could never throw the ball!!!
Actually let me reword this. I do not believe Whitworth is a "franchise" left tackle..no matter what Carson says. He is a good left tackle but leaves a lot to be desired. He gives reach-arounds more often than a "franchise" left tackle should. The whole line was terrible at pass blocking last year.
And they were thinking about moving Whit to right tackle a year or two ago..so how is it fucking mornonic? Because he is the best player on old or undrafted free agent line?

Yes. Moving your best linemen away from LT is fucking moronic.

Fuck that. I want Levi Jones circa 2005 again. A guy that you know isn't going to let Carson ever get hit.

And you think you're going to get that from Collins? Like I said. Moronic.

I don't know that i've ever seen the term "reach around" used as football terminology. Harrison and Freeney should be pretty excited though :1hump:

Okay..so when that moron Paul Alexander started AC at LT against Pittsburgh his rookie year and kept Whit at LG and AC manhandled Harrison it was moronic? C'mon. You act like you saw a ton of snaps from AC at right tackle..when he didn't get that much burn.
We will just have to agree to disagree because this thread is already going to far off-topic. But the whole everyone who thinks moving Whit is a moronic idea seems a little over the top. He's good..not as good as a lot of people make him out to be..
Hope Dre can get it straight and this is Willie trying to stir the pot..(go figure).

He's a Franchise LT. He had a better season than the "name" guy in Cleveland. Joe Thomas great tackle as well but he gets beat as well.
His coach, His QB and independent writers thought he was All-Pro, yet someone on this message board knows better? Get the fuck outta here with that shit.

Whit got hurt the game before, which is the only reason Collins played that game to begin with.

Thursday update: Smith sidelined
By GEOFF HOBSON
Posted 25 minutes ago
GEORGETOWN, Ky. _ The Bengals took the field Thursday morning and opened training camp at Georgetown College with right tackle Andre Smithhttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif still on the sidelines.
Smith, who missed all of the last camp in a rookie holdout, was one of what appeared to be five players not suited up. The Bengals had hoped the foot surgery that knocked Smith out of all of the spring workouts would be healed enough for him to line up in the first practice.
Under hazy skies with a touch of a breeze, head coach Marvin Lewis commenced his eighth Bengals' camp in helmets and shorts. They aren't expected to go full pads until one of Saturday's two practices.
Also not working were cornerback Leon Hallhttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif, left guard Evan Mathishttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif, SAM linebacker Rashad Jeantyhttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif, and safety Tom Nelsonhttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif. Hall apparently tweaked his back in a workout a few days ago and is expected to be out only briefly and could be back as soon as the weekend. Jeanty (leg) and Mathis (foot) are coming off surgeries.
If wide receiver Terrell Owens is going to get No. 81 when he signs later Thursday, it hasn't happened yet. Wide receiver Antonio Bryanthttp://www.bengals.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif took the field with it.
s_analytics_prop1 = 'Thursday update: Smith sidelined'; s_analytics_prop4 = 'GEOFF HOBSON'; s_analytics_prop11 = 'f005a4c2-7895-4ff0-953d-fa9dfdc2df36'; s_analytics_prop12 = 'Thursday update: Smith sidelined'; s_analytics_prop13 = 'GEOFF HOBSON'; $(document).ready(nflcs.gbl.mod.Article.init)

So why didn't the Bengals address the O-line this offseason then?
Even if Andre is the Opening Day starter, they will roll with 80% of that
suck ass O-line intact.
You notice all the additions to the skill positions though?
Why did the entire organization miss what you clearly see?
