  2. Hey guys, the last time I was overseas during the NFL Draft was in 1992. When I boarded the plane in Barcelona and was handed a newspaper, that's when I learned that the Bengals had drafted David Klingler. Please, someone, make sure they don't do that again.

  3. Drew Sample engaged in sexual acts with your wife or something? My goodness, let it go dude. He’s perfectly in line with what his salary is and is ultra dependable. That’s something Taylor and the Bengals place value on.

  4. Sample is like the new Justin Smith. If he were drafted later everyone would love him. You all realize these guys have no control over when they get picked, right?

  12. You guys know the rules, so I'm going to keep this simple. Guess the player they pick. Use the name the player is known by. You can do JC Latham, but not A Mims. But spelling isn't important as long as I can figure it out. No bookending. Tie breaker is the pick number for Cade Stover, don't tell me team and round. Your screen name must be included in your guess. An acceptable guess format is: Jason - Amarius Mims - 148 The contest will close for guesses at 9 pm on Sunday April 21 around 9 pm EDT. The prize is any ONE item in the Bengals pro shop up to $50, and I will pay all taxes and standard shipping. Send me a link, and specify size and color if applicable. You must be a Bengals fan and member as of 11 am EDT on 4/13/24. Go-Bengals is not responsible for the outcome or prize. 14. I went to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Columbus last night for a company function. I had never been there before, but now I understand why the Bengals choose that restaurant to wine and dine free agents. Even though we had a limited menu, everything I ate was amazing!

  15. Pretty easy to tell what the Bengals are most focused on with this draft. A whopping 15 of their 19 listed top 30 visits were with offensive/defensive linemen. DT Evan Anderson, FIU DT Johnny Newton, Illinois DT Justin Rogers, Auburn DT Maason Smith, LSU DT McKinnley Jackson, Texas A&M DT T'Vondre Sweat, Texas ED Chop Robinson, Penn State ED Gabriel Murphy, UCLA ED Xavier Thomas, Clemson OT Amarius Mims, Georgia OT Bayron Matos, South Florida OT Giovanni Manu, British Columbia OT Javon Foster, Missouri OT Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State OT Troy Fautanu, Washington S Daijahn Anthony, Ole Miss TE Erick All, Iowa WR Jalen McMillan, Washington WR Joshua Cephus, UTSA

  20. Sorry to the board in advance, but this needs to be done. Weird you say huh? Let’s talk about weird. It’s weird how you say “it’s really not that serious” yet you have how many posts in this thread about this? All repeating the same damn thing. A barrage of them, you and Sparky both. You won’t STFU about it. Constantly bringing Samples salary and worthlessness up and bringing everyone else here down. You think you haven’t made your feelings about it known after this many posts? How much time have you put into those posts for something that’s “not that serious”. Now THAT’S Weird! And I’m the one that needs to get a grip? lol Know what else is weird? Saying that I’m defending someone who doesn’t know me; in Drew Sample, and who I’m inconsequential to yet here you are defending Sparky who we could say the same about with you. Textbook case of the psychological principle that is Projection. Now kindly do everyone a huge favor and STFU about overpaid TEs and how inept the Bengals are and how it’s such a horrible life being a Bengals fan with Mike Brown as the owner and how they don’t know how to do anything right. We get it.

  22. Here's another fun stat: the last time the Bengals weren't top 5 in pass attempt % they went to the Super Bowl. As I've said before a few times myself, he's been expected to hard-carry the offense with a plodder of a RB whose biggest contribution to the team was smiles. We'll see how they call games without him.

  23. Versatility. Played FB at times. He is a huge cog in making the offense go. If you look at blocking TE's like Josh Oliver etc. I think he probably had a market and wanted to stay here. That deal is really just 3M per year not to have to replace our Blockig Te, That's not bad at all.

  25. He's managed one full season in the past 5 years. Based on his average availability it works out to about half a mil per start. Until I know who will be playing RT the 2nd half of the season I'm gonna have to pump the brakes on all that backslapping just a bit.

  26. IMO just seems like a position can CANNOT be weak at, so letting Dax learn is gonna ahve to come in blowouts and spot work, i can specifically remember 2-3 games where we needed one stop to get the ball back with a chance and gave up the play due to a CB or Safety shitting the bed (mainly cheeto) so the depth is great in case on injury and the talent boost is great. sucks for Dax's career trajectory, but we need to get a ring ASAP, so no hard feelings but no time for that right now.

  28. Charlie needs to get stronger, that’s for sure. And I remember the one long pass when he hesitated at the end of the route and that was disappointing. But remember, TB didn’t knock it out of the park starting out… really, his third year was when he broke out… and the crew that he was part of wasn’t as good with Jerome Simpson et al as the one Jones was brought into. No doubt he needs to improve but I’m not ready to say he can’t play, and be a solid contributor. But yeah, obviously this fall will be big for him.

  29. How anyone could defend the utter garbage that Mike Brown and family put on the field for 30 years by pretending the last 4 years was business as usual is laughable. In 33 years, Mike Brown, who INHERITED THE team is 223-303-4. In a league with a real salary cap, that is terrible. The Browns sat back, had the league negotiate every TV deal, every collective bargaining agreement, accepted their cut and didn’t do anything to promote the league. No effort necessary. 5 playoff wins in 33 years, all 5 of them coming in the last 3 years. ACCOMPLISHMENTS GALORE! Are the Walton heirs rocket scientists? Is Trump a genius? Paris Hilton extraordinary? No, they were born into wealth. We got LUCKY. Lucky as hell. Pure luck that Joe Burrow is a generationally great QB and we sucked so bad we had the first pick. Utter fucking luck. Lucky his knee got blown out (a little sarcasm) and we got Chase the next draft. He fell into their lap because the team absolutely sucked. I suffered thru almost 3 decades of shit, screw them. Don’t you remember the 90s and the Carson Palmer era shit show? The Chris Henry saga?

  32. If you are lucky enough to have a franchise QB, the 1st round pick should almost always be either an offensive or defensive linemen. Almost every Pro Bowl caliber linemen, especially O/D tackles, were taken in the 1st round. Even more so if you are lucky enough to have an early to mid 1st rounder. The trenches are where you find the most value. Meanwhile there are plenty of Pro Bowl caliber WRs/TEs/RBs/LBs/safeties that were drafted in later rounds. So bottom line, the Bengals at 18 should either take Murphy or an offensive lineman of equal or greater value. I don't care what skill position guy happens to slide.

  35. To be clear there are absolutely things I do not like. Investment groups should not be allowed to buy homes, that is a HUGE part of the problem with the cost of housing, not to mention we need to be building more houses to drive prices down. It has been shown that 50% if the inflation numbers are coming from what is basically "greedflation" or corporations price gouging, Biden has done nothing to address that.

  37. ^ When I watch Mims tape, I see someone who is very light on his feet. For him, it really is ballet. Despite his huge size, he usually wins by finesse, angles, and arm length, instead of power. He almost never lets the defender get into his body or drive him backwards. I would put his pass blocking at 9/10 and his run blocking at 6/10 = for a 7.5 average. However, he lacks the nasty aggression you usually see from someone as big as him, and almost seems like a big brother playing against his little brother, who is not going full speed sometimes, but realizing he can win anyway on natural talent alone. His frame is very lean and despite being 330 lbs he could probably play at 350 lbs and be a better run blocker with the extra girth. With 36" arms (same as Patrick Paul), he looks like he was created in a laboratory, as I think this is what an OT would look like if we had to show an alien an example of one. The wildcards would be his passion for the game, and lack of game experience.

  39. My father did that in 1944, but he was an 18 year old guiding a minesweeper across the Pacific. Being the efficient person he was, he got it to its destination ahead of schedule. He was a Navy cartographer who spent his spare time plotting ways back to Louisville using only waterways. I used to call him the human Mapquest.

  42. My father did that in 1944–except he was 22 the year before, and was co-piloting B-17’s while dodging flak and Messerschmitts. Have at it, Caleb….lots of 22-year olds gave their all so you would have the freedom to look like a damn fool.

  44. & then when handed this generational talent they let the likes of Jonah Williams play out of position to save $6-8M on the way to letting their franchise QB be the most-sacked QB in the NFL (for the 2 seasons he's managed to stay on the field.) Kinda like being handed a gold mine and building an outhouse over the mine shaft. I think the younger generation of ownership may have learned something from their past but the fact remains they're only in that ownership position due to a genetic lottery.
