  1. But the Browns are still elves and it's ok to say so. Free Ja'Marr!

  4. 🐸 Mahomes is a referee call merchant who has shitty stats this year. The Queefs are winning in spite of him, actually based on their defense and the league office (gotta keep those Swifties watching).

  5. They looked that way against New England for sure. Not so much in taking KC to the wire and BAL to overtime. I get it , a loss is a loss and there’s no moral victories in the NFL. Bottom line is the defense hasn’t been close to good enough and injuries have definitely contributed to that, along with poor drafting and player development. Time will tell if getting healthier will make much of a difference, but I don’t think it’s going to make it worse.

  6. This. Don't let your feelings about the game get in the way of the need here. I am on team "retractable roof" so that they can still play in the elements but be able to host things that they cant host in the cold weather. We all want this organization to do things to modernize like a better front office with at least a few more scouts. If they put a roof on the stadium and can have winter concerts or other things, that brings in revenue for things like more scouts.

  7. Bengals don't need a dome. No team should have a dome. Domes suck. Football is supposed to be played in the elements.

  8. Wouldn't that be something... On one hand, I would probably be happy for a historically moribund franchise achieving some success for once (they were essentially the "NFC Bengals") On the other hand, selfishly I would be mad that there are less teams in the group to have never won a SB 😭

  9. Yup, every RB worth his salt possess and is driven by a "must...score...touchdown" mentaility. This, however, is easily overridden by the coaches who communicate the play to Burrow: "x-47 trap right, zebra low, on 2....a first down ends the game." I strongly suspect that the reason we saw Brown awkwardly tumble into the end zone was because he was caught between the idea of scoring and of getting to the ground. He was unsure, very much the way Ahmad Bradshaw scored for the Giants near the end of Super Bowl 46 vs New England. A simple reminder in the huddle would've resolved that in Brown's head. But Zac hasn't figured out a way to do that yet apparently.

  11. Yeah, could've been a huge mistake. The game was over with the first down, but people here were fine with the TD instead of the chance to kneel down and keep the D off the field and potentially lose. Giants probably let him score after he got the first down. Luckily nobody got hurt on D on the final drive. Selfish players care more about stats or maybe he didn't realize. Which would fall under poor coaching.

  12. Yep. I'm too tired to type it all out, but you can youtube the ending of the Texans game from November 12th, 2023. Zac threw this one away by not employing very simple basics at the end.

  13. No thanks. Stone is a free safety and deep defender. Adams is a broken down strong safety and probably not as good as Bell at this point.

  14. Heard Shannon Sharpe talking about the Lions going after Maxx Crosby Raiders. They'd receive Detroit's 1st and the Raiders will have 2 firsts to move up in the draft for a QB. Makes sense as Crosby would immediately fill Aiden Hutchinson role In 2025 Lions have both as DEs..

  18. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/four-verts-its-sad-that-the-browns-are-quiet-quitting-and-the-Stealers-might-be-botching-their-qb-situation-041551160.html Browns are quiet-quitting and it’s their own fault Let’s call what’s happening in Cleveland what it is: embarrassing. A flat-out embarrassment. The Browns have decided to give up entirely on the 2024 season by continuing to start the worst, most expensive quarterback in football and now have to figure out what their roster looks like for the future while they have a titan-sized albatross in the lineup in Deshaun Watson. At 1-5 and with no hope to get anything accomplished this year, the Browns this week started stripping down their roster for draft picks with their first in-season trade of wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Bills for a third-round draft selection. That’s a move that will make one of the worst offenses in league history even worse, a move the Browns were almost forced to make due to the horrendous return on the Watson trade. The Browns' future outlook is bleak. What are the Stealers doing? Let’s keep this one brief because there isn’t all that much to express besides confusion. The Stealers seem to be seriously considering the contrarian move of benching quarterback Justin Fields after a 4-2 start, where they’re tied with the Ravens for the AFC North lead. The idea of sitting Fields, even at 4-2, is not indefensible. What doesn’t make sense is putting Russell Wilson in the lineup over him — it’s not 2015! The Stealers could squeeze more juice from their offense this year, but that’s not necessarily Fields’ fault, at least not entirely. He certainly has his limitations in the passing game, but there’s no denying that his legs have been a positive asset for the Stealers and they just had their best game of the season on offense against the Raiders on Sunday. The biggest reason why the Stealers' passing game is mid is because they don’t have many playmakers on the outside. George Pickens is OK, but he’s ideally a No. 2 wideout in a good offense. His lack of attention to detail hurts Pittsburgh's passing game and the Stealers don’t have many weapons outside of him. Wilson isn’t going to fix that. It's an unsolvable problem until the offseason. It seemed like the sensible play was to see what Fields had through the end of the season and then assess his long-term potential. Wilson is not the future. Based on last year with Denver, he’s probably not even the present. This is a weird move that caps an already beleaguered Stealers offense because they’re losing the dynamism that Fields brings with his legs. Whatever, the Stealers will still probably finish 10-7 and then get blasted in the wild-card round, which is fine. No... smoke and mirrors and the usual Squeel crap... playing over their heads and due for a Hindenburg like crash.

  19. Then again…a player is mainly trained to score. A basketball player has the time at the foul line to intentionally miss a free throw, as needed. A running back who suddenly breaks free for a race to the goal line will be driven by the sight of that goal line. Or something like that…

  20. Zac also said that while Brown should have gone down after picking up the first down with 1:52 left instead of scoring, it was his (Zac's) fault. He correctly said he doesn't expect players to be doing math in the huddle. He correctly said it was his responsibility to make the players aware of the strategy, as dictated by the situation. Yet he failed to inform the offense. How many seasons does he need to coach to know he needs to have a time/timeouts chart that tells you when it's time to take a knee? When you have the lead and the ball, that's not the time to start calculating the straightest path to victory. I'm glad he took ownership of the faux pas, but when can we expect these faux pas to stop? It's not news to any coach that the objective is NOT to score touchdowns. It's to have more points than your opponent when the clock hits :00. If you have the ball and the lead and the ability to bleed the clock to 0:00, that's what you do. (the Browns failed to understand this vs the Jets a couple of years ago, and lo and behold, the Jets came back to win the game) And you don't wait until you're in that situation to figure out what to do, and when. If it's too much for Zac to remember or keep track of, then it needs to be someone's job, as the opponents' timeouts dwindle, to inform him of what time on the clock is the point at which ball carriers should get down instead of scoring and needlessly giving the ball back to the other team. This is the stuff that drives me absolutely nuts about Zac. You get paid more in 1 year than most people will make in their entire lifetime. There are some basic things I expect from a head coach: > know and understand every last paragraph & sentence in the rule book > understand basic end-of-game clock management, and have a system in place to quickly & unambiguously convey that to players on the field. BTW, as I composed this diatribe, I opened an Excel spread sheet and created a chart that tells you exactly how much time needs to be on the clock, depending on how many timeouts your opponent has, in order for you to kill the rest of the game off. Took 5 minutes. If Zac had this in his pocket, then the play call for Brown's TD run would simply have been accompanied by the reminder that all we need is a 1st down to end the game. Pick it up and then get down...in bounds. Ball game.

  25. me neither but I also think all the "bad luck" and "better than their record" talk avoids accountability. ditto acting as though murphy that's been injured for most of his bengals career, a 30 year old rankins, and some mid-round rookies all being (gasp!) hurt was some unforeseeable matter of fate. fact is they've looked unprepared and/or unfocused most of the year while playing losing football. they have to own that.

Apologize if this topic has already been beaten to death (as I'm sure most of you are happy about, I don't come here that often anymore), but anybody notice that Baker Mayfield is kicking ass now? All the while Deshaun Cosby is sucking ass for the Clowns. Pure hilarity. couldn't happen to a more deserving fanbase.

  31. *** I think this comment was posted on the game day thread and was bashed... https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/10/15/bengals-keep-playing-competitions-level-serious-problem/ Bengals keep playing to their competition's level and it’s a serious problem The Cincinnati Bengals are doing it again. In past years, the Bengals had a reputation as a team that played down to the competition. That didn’t just shine through during Sunday night’s win over the New York Giants — it has defined the season. A quick rundown: Week 1, the team lost 16-10 to a New England team that is now 1-5 with a minus-60 point differential. In Week 2, the Bengals played up to the level of the Chiefs, losing by a single point. In Week 3, they played up to a Washington club that is now 4-2 with a plus-33 point differential, same as the Chiefs. They lost by five. In Week 4, they cruised against a one-win Panthers team, the lone exception to this idea. Even then, it was a seven-point game until roughly one minute left in regulation. In Week 5, they played up to the Ravens in the overtime loss. Sunday night? They played down to a 2-4 Giants team with a minus-25 point differential. The offense collapsed in the face of a front seven that is the closest thing the Bengals will still see to the Browns and Stealers over four more games this season. And the defense looked better — but the Giants were missing lead running back Devin Singletary and star wideout Malik Nabers. Yes, the Bengals start slow each season and yes, the defense continues to get healthier. No, they aren’t dead from a playoff standpoint. And yet, it’s also hard to get encouraged by the idea that the Bengals don’t face a tough schedule the rest of the way (compared to the last few years) when they consistently play to the level of the competition and let teams like the Giants hang around until the final drive. And so far, key mistakes — be it a Joe Burrow fumble or Zac Taylor losing his mind at the controls — have defined their performances against great teams. The Bengals could always turn around and make this take look foolish in the coming weeks. But what looks like a manageable stretch against Cleveland, Philadelphia and Las Vegas before playing Baltimore again will probably be anything but simple. Like the head-smackingly silly slow starts to every season under Taylor, the playing to the level of competition is probably here to stay.

  32. Next time Watson gets an ouchie, Browns should put him on IR and excuse him from attendance at practice or games. Winston isn't very good either and can QB them to a top 5 pick. They need a cheap QB and that means a rookie, even an early picked one. They may or may not be able to turn that rookie into a decent NFL QB but Watson will still be around for 2025. If the Browns want to spread the cap hits from Watson's dead money over the most years, they could cut him early in 2026 with a post-June 1 designation and split the remaining money between 2026 and 2027. If their 2025 rookie QB is a hit, then Watson's contract will be off their cap just in time for an extension for the new guy. If the rookie flops, he'll just be another name on the jersey. Isn't it up to about 30 names now? If Browns want to get out from under the Watson contract asap, they can release him in early 2025 with post-June 1 designation. They can carry over 44 mil (plus probably another 12 or so with Cooper traded) and offset most of the cap hit for 2025. But 2026 will sting.

  35. The only out is if he's actually convicted of something or the NFL suspends him, and expecting Goodell to suddenly crack down on sex offenders is one hell of a long shot. Not going to happen without criminal charges.

  36. lol, yea, a loss to cleveland would be tough without some extreme mitigating circumstance. lol, man you cant sit him and pay him that, NO ONE will take a trade, they are gonna ahve to eat next years deal too, then cut him for the cap hit after that. and eat 70 mil AGAIN. they are fucked and the rebuild come in 2027. love to see it. defense has held teams to 16 and 7 points total in games lou had even MOST of his players playing, not even healthy. probably nothing anything lou is doing wrong. yea and touchy feely has been barking and trashing his linemen and teammates on the field, i saw part of last game and OL guy got beat and he was yelling at him, like 3-4 sentences of it, OL guy didnt look happy. he is in a state of throwing his hands up after every failed play, his fault or not, it sure FEELS like he is a locker room cancer from hell, AND sucks, and everyone involved knows they are fucked and stuck together for 2.5 more years AND no chance of a trade. never seen such a horrible decision until i saw then restructure his money to fuck themselves even worse later.. they doubled down with the House Deed in vegas.

  39. yea youre not wrong, and the teams are so different each time, its usually one or two exploits that give the winner the win, their front pass rush and god DB's vs our trash LG and rest of the line in previous years was the deciding factor i think for most all those games.. both teams desperate, it feels like the wheels may be fallong off over there though, lets hope we can help them crash and burn. true enough,. so tough for someone to come off the street and play, but RB might be the easiest position to do it from love a good QB controversey, make him panic good call. 100% true, gotta be the ones to kick their dicks in first..
