  1. It’s some strange way of being “cool” with one’s locals I reckon. Cleveland has this annoying “The Land” going on with the Cavs and the GuarIndians. NY has a wide arrangement of things from Statue of Liberty heads to the new Mets ensemble simply saying “Queens”. The trend isn’t new really. An old one from long ago was this Alway thought this on was weird. They didn’t play in San Francisco, and the name “Golden State” had nothing to do with San Francisco either. The fixed that—even though they now do play in “the City”—by just making it a region
  2. All draft picks are slotted. There is little, if any room for negotiation. Even this dickbag can’t monkey with it
  3. Hard to say as to the photo ( as his numbers were 4 and 12), but the man was definitely the pride of Lakeridge HS and THE Oregon State University
  4. They look like they are also returning more to their “traditional” jerseys.
  5. I would like to see these “people” and their expert findings. If it is just supposition from tank-topped TV blabbermouths, then question the source strongly. Are there any actual medical/psychological opinions? Otherwise it appears to be bollocks
  6. Foghat had better tunes than “Slow Ride”. “Drivin’ Wheel” and “Fool for the City” come to mind. Saw them quite a few times back in those roaring ‘70’s
  7. Sheldon was a 4th rounder. Not a major toss of dice. Boom or bust. Carman was a bad pick in that he was a natural LT and they not only used him too early, they put him at a position he had no business (or experience) playing. Both, however, were above average at the collegiate level. A flub-up on a night out on the town does not discount what he did on the field at Texas. There may be better “value” picks at NT later on, but for a true description of what the Bengals need as a pure NT, he is it. The Bengals met with him…he’s been vetted. If they suspected a chronic issue, then that is one matter.
  8. It was 1963…and the AFL. Fun fact: the NY Titans were bought in 1963 for the stupendous sum of $1million dollars (cue Dr Evil). The name was changed to the “Jets”, because it rhymed with “Mets” and each were going to be playing in the then new Shea Stadium. The location was also near LaGuardia Airport, so that factored in also. Having seen some baseball back in the day at Shea, the flight patterns out and into LaGuardia basically were overhead. Lots of noise.
  9. The original NY Titans helmet did not have a logo on it. This is what the first NY Jets helmet looked like.
  10. They were using the “original” Namath era uniform combo for the longest time. It replaced the “original” Sack Exchange ones they are now bringing back. They could have gone WAY back, and used their “original” NY Titans kit—which they tried out in 2009:
  11. Gutted actually. Had an opportunity to pull in front with Arsenal losing…then they lay an egg against Crystal Palace. Now Manchester Cheaty look to be in control. Still 6 to go, but they will need help.
  12. It’s difficult to separate the athlete from the person sometimes. I watched him, single-handedly, try to carry a so-so USC team to a national title in 1969 against the consensus National Champion Ohio State. He was an amazing force. Then, watched him, single-handedly, carry a so-so BUF team in 1973 with the single-season rushing yards record (which lasted a long time). He was an amazing force. Football-wise, he was more than deserving to be in both the collegiate and pro football halls of fame. The person, was an enigma. Naturally charming and engaging—and at the same time angry and violent. At the end of the double-murder saga, I found myself not really sure what to believe. Was he capable? Of course. Did a jury of his peers convict him? Sordid as that was, they did not. To this day, I still wonder. With that said, he continued even afterwards in bizarre—and ultimately—criminal acts (for which a jury of his peers did convict). That he was unstable in the years leading up to his departure, was more than evident. I am uncertain of what to think of his departure from this life. He will face a judge much more just than Lance Ito—and by that it means that all of the truth will be laid out in that court. Whether that judge convicts him, I cannot say. But all of the Heismans, HOF jackets, and Hertz commercials, will be of no use there. A great athletic life, a pointless personal life.
  13. Oh yes…arm length. So they can hold…err block better.
  14. Once again…other than media hacks saying he’s “frustrated”, when has he said that he is (like a quote or something)? And I don’t mean like when someone says “ the process can be frustrating..yada yada”. None of that confirms “I hate this team”
  15. A lot depends, I suppose. But Jonah was a consensus All-American tackle at Alabama—with a throwing QB. Pass blocking was obviously comfortable for him. Carman was an anchor LT for Sunshine at Clemson. It’s what he played. Whitworth was a natural tackle at LSU. The Bengals tried to jam him at guard initially. It didn’t work. 1000 Whatabouts for all kinds of players. Not sure metrics always fit
  16. If there is one area the Bengals should change…it’s the constant attempts to make natural tackles into guards.
