  1. I just realized this. 11 of our 17 games this year we're against playoff teams. BAL, CLE, PIT (x2 ea), HOU, BUF, KCC, SFF and LAR. And with Burrow out as long as he was, and playing well below his normal capabilities for many more weeks, the Stripes still posted a winning record this year. Okay. Back to football. Pyramid of hate: My rooting interests: BAL < HOU SFF = GBP DET >> TBB BUF >>>> KCC
  2. ^ in retrospect perhaps I should've cut her a break. It's not like she was looking at a mock draft site, hoping we would lose to get a better pick.
  3. From a FB post I made two years ago today.... "Family of 5 sitting in front of me at the Chiefs game. Never been before. Dad tells me he paid nearly $1000 for the tickets, counting TicketBastard's scalping fees. Score tied, 40 seconds left, timeout while Bengals decide to go for 4th and goal to clinch a division championship. Mom is looking at a baking video." "I didn't have the heart to tell Dad that his bride couldn't be bothered to pay attention to the most important moment in three decades of Bengals football, for the $200 game he had brought her to. If he noticed her apathy he did a good job of hiding it."
  4. Wink just got canned again. This time by the lowly Giants after two seasons of ineptitude. He resigned yesterday before they could fire him. https://theathletic.com/5188296/2024/01/08/wink-martindale-giants-resigns/ If you don't know who this is - any why should you - he used to be the Ravens DC. He made a pregame comment about Burrow not being ready for a Gold Jacket (a HoF reference) right before Joe went and thrashed his defense for 525 passing yards in a 41-21 beat-down in 2021 Week 16. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2021/12/26/wink-martindale-gold-jacket-remark-motivate-joe-burrow-cincinnati-bengals-record-525-passing-yards/9020801002 He also took a shot at Chase, but giving up 82 points to the Bengals in two games, which saw Chase get over 300 yards and Burrow post unheard of numbers (60-84-941 7/1) in his two meetings against Baltimore that season, likely doomed him. Martindale was one of the very first off-season casualties of Baltimore's last-place finish, while Burrow and the Bengals went to the Super Bowl. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2022/1/21/22895850/ravens-news-don-wink-martindale-joe-burrow-jamarr-chase Now - Wink has worn out his welcome in New York. Over. Rated. Good riddance to bad garbage.
  5. Most recent playoff victories: Cincinnati: 1/22/2023, Divisional at Buffalo, W27-10 (0-1 since) Baltimore: 1/20/2021, Wild Card at Tennessee, W20-13 (0-2 since) CFT: 1/20/2021, Wild Card at Pittsburgh, W48-37 (0-2 since) Pittsburgh: 1/15/2017, Divisional at Kansas City, W18-16 (0-5 since)
  6. True, the Bengals season has been over for a week now, but the victory star has been lit tonight because every time the Stealers get eliminated its cause for celebration!
  7. Lol.... Fitzpatrick tried so hard to make a "Steeler Play" by throwing Shakir to the ground that he forgot to tackle him. TD Bills. And that might be ballgame.
  8. It has been a long time since I have had so much enjoyment over a half of football from a game the Bengals were not playing in.
  9. It's finally GameDey! Gonna eat some chicken wings for lunch today.Go Bills!
  10. Before they announce the upcoming weekend's schedule, here's my final/updated guess: Saturday 430: 4/HOU at 1/BAL (if BUF>PIT) 4/HOU at 3/KCC (if PIT>BUF) Saturday at 800: 7/GBP at 1/SFF Sunday at 300: 3/KCC at 2/BUF (if BUF>PIT) 7/PIT at 1/BAL (if PIT>BUF) Sunday at 6:30: PHI/TBB-winner at 3-DET
  11. My prediction now for next weekend's schedule: Saturday 430: 4/HOU at 1/BAL (if BUF>PIT) 4/HOU at 3/KCC (if PIT>BUF) Saturday at 800: 7/GBP at 1/SFF Sunday at 300: 3/KCC at 2/BUF (if BUF>PIT) 7/PIT at 1/BAL (if PIT>BUF) Sunday at 6:30: PHI/TBB-winner at 3-DET (if DET>LAR) 6-LAR at PHI/TBB-winner (if LAR>DET) BOLD = Wild Card Monday winner
  12. I've got an idea. If the weather makes PIT at BUF impossible, the NFL should do a coin flip. Heads - the game goes to Pittsburgh Tails - the game goes to Atlanta Never forget, the league established a precedent last year, where they demonstrated their willingness to take an earned home playoff game away from a division champion and give it to a wild card team based on a coin flip. And to move an earned home playoff game to a neutral site for no apparent reason. Fuckers
  13. Sorry for the distraction, but I'm going to talk about playoff football now. The league kinda screwed Buffalo over with the scheduling, as they had scheduled the 2-7 game as the final AFC wildcard game this weekend..... and it's been made even worse by having that game postponed to Monday. As it stands now, the Bills will have two fewer days' rest than whomever their opponent ends up being - which we now know will be the Chefs. I'm assuming Buffalo wins tomorrow, but even if they lose to Pittsburgh the Stealers will be in the same position having two days fewer to prepare for Baltimore than vice-versa. At least the league's NFC schedule makes sense.... 2-7 is first, then 3-6, leaving 4-5 for Monday. By doing it that way, the 2nd round pairings resolve game-by-game.... if you have the 2-7 game last, then NONE of the pairings are settled until that game is played. As far as Divisional scheduling, as fucked-up as the NFL is I cannot see them forcing any of the Monday teams to play their next playoff game on Saturday. It seems stupidly obvious that the Monday winners will play on Sunday. And with exactly one west coast game next weekend (the Niners), but not knowing if they're playing on Saturday or Sunday, I'll bet that the NFC games will be the 2nd game on both days - to cover their butts. If those assumptions hold - and we're talking about the NFL so there are no guarantees here - the Divisional Round probably looks like this: AFC games on Saturday 430 and Sunday 300 - PIT/BUF winner plays on Sunday, so HOU plays on Saturday - If 2-BUF wins: Saturday= 4-HOU at 1-BAL, Sunday = 3-KCC at 2-BUF - If 7-PIT wins: Saturday = 4-HOU at 3-KCC, Sunday = 7-PIT at 1-BAL NFC games on Saturday 800 and Sunday 630 - PHI/TBB winner plays on Sunday - If 7-GBP wins: Saturday = 7-GBP at 1-SFF, Sunday = PHI/TBB at 3-DET /or/ 6-LAR at PHI/TBB - If 2-DAL and 3-DET win: Saturday = 3-DET at 2-DAL, Sunday = PHI/TBB at 1-SFF - If 2-DAL and 6-LAR win: Saturday = 6-LAR at 1-SFF, Sunday = PHI/TBB at 2-DAL There's no way to avoid screwing this week's Monday winners - the NFC winner plays a team with at least one extra day of rest. The AFC winner, if it's BUF, plays a team with two extra days of rest. If it's PIT, they play BAL who has had two weeks' rest, but that was going to happen to the 7 seed regardless. At least this schedule maximizes the time off for the Monday winners, as they play on Sunday after a short 6-day week. There's no way to give them more rest without pushing the Divisional Games into Monday as well, which solves nothing and only postpones the "pay back" by a week into the Conference Championships. Since the AFC pairings can't be settled until BUF/PIT play, BAL has to accept that they don't know when their game will be (Sat or Sun) until they know if they're playing HOU or PIT. It's a clusterfuck. The league could've fixed this by scheduling the AFC games in the same order as the NFC games, reserving the 4/5 game for last. And while they cannot control the weather and a declared state of emergency in WNY could not have been predicted, by having the AFC 2/7 game last, they opened the door to this sort of upheaval. If this were the 4/5 game, we'd already have the games scheduled and the pairings set, needing only to know who the 4/5 winner is to take the predetermined slot. Dumb fucks.
  14. Coming into tonight, for his career he was 6-13 in games under 70 degrees 0-6 in games under 45 degrees. Tonight was under 45 by a little bit.
