  1. You mean reality...you sound like a delusional parent that swears that lil Johnny is a good kid, he just needs to stay away from the crystal meth and those bad kids who hang out in the alley... Look BJ we all know you love a dancing bear...can I interest you in Trent Brown...He's just as big as Becton coming in at 6'8" and 360 lbs but he has played good football in the NFL. In Becton's best year he gave up 7 sacks, to me that screams he's not that good...
  2. Brown has been a better player and is less risky, but he doesn't know Frank Pollack so I don't know if that would work out...lol
  3. Hopefully, someone at PBS has come to their senses and realized that Becton is a bum that isn't worth being signed, regardless of how big he is..he sucks at playing football. The Jets had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL since he got there, drafted him #11 overall, and made no attempts to re-sign him...instead they replaced him as soon as possible, that should tell you everything you need to know about Becton. Being big is cool but being able to play football at a high level is better
  4. lol...bro..you keep posting random fans opinions as if that is helping make your point...Will Lutz is a marketing guy..https://www.linkedin.com/in/willie-lutz-027026134/ His eyes for oline talent evaluation doesn't mean shit because he's a fan just like you and me...all of these guys you keep posting are just parroting opinions and giving uneducated takes to talk themselves into agreeing with whatever moves the Bengals might make. Willie Lutz's eye's for oline play is worth fuck all...he doesn't anything about Carman's floor and Becton's ceiling, he's just talking out of his ass.
  5. He also gave up 7 sacks and 7 holding calls in 2020, if Carman or any other player had that stat line you and everyone else would be saying they need to be replaced.
  6. That was against lesser competition, he will be facing elite athletes, not bums in the ACC...Myles Garrett and Watt are not toys and if anyone will be getting thrown around it's Becton. The Bengals definitely would start Becton because they are starting Volson, who is also a diaster, it's what they do...And if you are moving him around to play positions he's never played before, why not move him to RB, TE, or DT...this isn't Madden where you can change someone's position by clicking a few buttons and it works out fine. You are trying to use random scouting reports from non-NFL scouts based on what could happen vs. the last 4 years of tape on what has occurred to say that the Bengals should sign this guy. Mike Renner is an accounting major that has never played NFL football, worked as scout for any NFL team, but got a job at PFF and his now a draft guru because??? Mike Renner is watching film just like me and you giving us his uneducated opinion, it's worthless and doesn't cover up the last 4 years of bad or non-existent play of Becton. What makes you think Carman and Smith have reached their ceiling but Becton has not, because he's bigger than them? There are plenty of big guys who can't play RT in the NFL at a high level, elite measurables don't mean shit if you can't put it all together and play consistently good football.
  7. Are you sure about that, this is the same front office that re-signed and started multiple awful offensive linemen over the past few years, including Bobby Hart because and I quote current Bengals VP and Pumpkin's boy toy..Troy Blackburn.. This was 5 years ago and the same decision makers are still in place and the Bengals still haven't found a solution to the RT problem, despite multiple picks and paying Bobby Hart 17 million dollars. I don't trust this front office and coaching staff to get this right because time shown that they are not capable of doing so..
  8. He's low-cost for a reason, he's not very good at playing football in the NFL...High reward comes with high risk, that's the other side of the deal...you don't get something for nothing. The Jets need offensive linemen, if he was worth a damn they would re-sign him, because to your point..he's low cost..but they saw how badly he practiced/played and didn't even offer a vet minimum deal. Outside of the Bengals is any other teams showing interest in Becton? The answer is no, because he's not a good NFL football player. Could he develop into one? Maybe, but it is highly unlikely he will. Do you want to risk Burrow's health and on the slim chance Becton does a 180 turn in his career and becomes this high-reward player? I don't. The Bengals have backup RT's on the roster, Smith, Carmen, Ford, etc..can all play at the same level as Becton is capable of playing, I just don't see the point of adding him to this roster. The Bengals need starting caliber players and Becton is not that.
  9. Lol...as if they planned it that way...c'mon BJ...seriously...they let Bell leave and got lucky Carolina is the worst run org in pro sports and Bell was cut. I would say this is a lucky coincidence moreso than a masterclass..
  10. If a guy sucks on his current team, more than likely he's going to suck on this team too...At this point most players don't develop after 4 years in the league, they are who they are..Becton is a physical specimen that is highly inconsistent and should not be starting on a team that wants to win a Super Bowl, he would be a backup but not a starter. Becton is the classic example of guys getting multiple chances based on draft status, something that was out of his control. If Becton had been drafted in 4th or 5th round he would be out of the NFL based on his production and tape, but he keeps getting chances because he was a first-round pick and he has "potential"...the only potential he has is the potential to get Burrow killed when misses a block or the potential to get a big play called back because he was called for holding...
  11. A few questions about Becton and Pollack, since that seems to be the connection and the way the Bengals are going to address RT. 1. What player can the Bengals objectively say Frank Pollack has coached up and improved their level of play? 2. What coach doesn't think he can't coach up a player with physical talent, that's a coach's job and their ego makes them believe they can get it done. 3. The Jets offensive line has been awful, why would we take a castoff from a bad offensive line and put him on our offensive line and realistically think he's going to improve the quality of play? Becton will probably sign, but hopefully he's nothing more than a backup to the rookie RT that comes in and starts all 17 games next season.
  12. Becton sucks, I hope the Bengals don't sign him. He's big but slow and has awful technique. In his best season he allowed seven sacks, one QB hit, and 15 hurries in 387 pass-blocking snaps while committing seven penalties. There are guys on the roster who can give you that type of production, hard pass.
  13. Typically switching positions at the NFL level is a huge red flag doesn't work out for the player, I remember the kid from Michigan, last name was Peppers and he got drafted by the Giants, he was playing all over the field in college and got to the NFL and tried to do the same...did work out, I think he ended up settling in at safety, at some point a player has to settle on one position at rock out.
  14. I'm sure Lou "the Alchemist" Anarumo will make something happen with Hill's skill set. I just hope he gets to settle in on position and master it for his long term development, moving around and playing different positions sounds cool but it doesn't help you specialize on one role. Dime or Nickel corner/safety.... whatever..he just needs to be on the field.
  15. There was an article that mentioned that Hill might switch positions, I think he would be a better cover corner than safety, with the loss of Chido he could be an outside corner or even play in the slot after Hilton's contract is up.
  16. It's disappointing for me, I thought the Bengals would have been more active and aggressive in signing players, I know they have time to still get some deals done but time is slipping away. I can see them bringing Jonah and DJ Reader back, or one of the two and drafting the replacement in the first round.
  17. The Vikings annouced they have no plans to trade Jefferson, this is pipe dream...it's sad the Bengals' free agency's biggest news is a pie-in-the-sky trade rumor instead of signing actual players in positions of need, like DT and RT. https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/amid-swirling-rumors-vikings-have-no-plans-to-trade-justin-jefferson#:~:text=You can relax as Dianna,a krazy story to tell."
  18. and you wasted time reading it...so what's your point? You didn't actually refute anything I posted you just made bitchy remark, sounds about right for you.
  19. Classy move by Joe Mixon, he's going to be missed. He was a leader and solid guy.
  20. This whole idea that Zack Moss is an upgrade over Mixon is hilarious to me because if anyone would have this a few months ago they would have been laughed off the internet, now he's a Bengal and suddenly he's better than Mixon....not buying it. Moss is a career backup who has never been the focal point of a team running game for a whole season. Mixon was a big reason why the Bengals didn't have a losing season last year, he was a consistent player and team leader and the Bengals traded him to a conference rival for a 7th-round pick... I feel a lot of Bengals fans are trying to talk themselves into this idea that Zack Moss is an upgrade over Mixon when it's fairly obvious that he's not. He's never been better than Mixon; not in high school, college, or the NFL. He's a decent 3rd down back that can pass protect, but let's see how he handles his duties with this offensive line that is weak up the middle and suspect on the edges, a division that has 2 HOF DEs in Watt and Garrett, one of the NFLs best defenses in the Ravens, and a QB that likes to hold onto the ball while taking a ton of sacks. I think Moss will be a rotational piece that is used in passing situations and the Bengals will use Chase Brown in on the early downs, more of a platoon of RBs vs a main guy in Mixon..we will see how it shakes out, but currently, the RB position is not more talented with the loss of Mixon and addition of Moss, in my opinion. As for Gesicki, I'm going to need to see what he can do before I get on board with this one. He has been a disappointment in his most recent role in NE. He was on a 1-year deal after being a 2nd round pick, that's not a good sign for a player's future. The signings of Moss and Gesicki point to a pass-happy offense as Moss's best attribute is his pass blocking and Gesicki is a pass-catching TE. We all know how Taylor hates running the ball so why run it anyway, just throw the ball 70 times a game and get Burrow maimed...again... Still waiting on the RT of the future to be signed or drafted and the Bengals should also bring in serious competition for Volson if they are going pass-heavy, because Volson sucks at pass pro..
  21. So 2 days into FA the Bengals have done the following: Signed Geno Stone, a starting Safety who had a very impressive 7 int's last year. This might free up Dax Hill to play CB as he struggled at safety and maybe they could also replace Nick Scott, who was frequently out of position and whiffed on tackles when he was in position. Traded away their starting RB for a 7th pick, despite him being a team-friendly deal...a bit a of a head-scratcher for me.. Signed a backup TE who is on his 3rd team in 2 years, at least he can learn how to do the Griddy correctly, or maybe stop doing it for all of our sakes...he dances like Elaine from Seinfeld Signed a backup RB who is a decent pass blocker but average in every other phase of the game, for perspective Joe Mixon has accomplished more in 2 seasons(2021-22) than this guy has done in his whole career Re-signed a backup LB and core special teamer Resigned a backup TE who was 2nd round pick and has been a bust Resigned a backup RB who has done little to nothing except make a few plays on special teams Overall, this FA period has been underwhelming with the Bengals not doing much to improve the team despite having major holes to fill on both sides of the line and the cash to bring in players.. Not sure what they are waiting on but this franchise hasn't accomplished enough to sit back let FA come to them, they need to be aggressive and acquire as many good players as possible. That Super Bowl was 3 years ago and many of those players are not on the team and the team has regressed since then, the front office can't ride that Super Bowl run forever. It's looking like the 80's all over again.
  22. Every other stat and the eye test says he's not...advanced stats are not the end all, be all...there's a reason why Moss has never started unless someone is injured. He had a shot in Buffalo to be the guy but couldn't get it done and he had a few good games in Indy, outside of that he's never been more than a rotational piece.. Mixon has more yards, TD's, etc...every stat says Mixon is the better player.
