What a final blow to a Bengal who gave his all here—and showed it.

“conditional 7th Round pick” is about as insulting as it is completely irrelevant

Brock Purdy says "Nay". I agree that Mixon's departure was sad and not expected. Better to get something for nuttin' though

Especially when you don't care about having a decent backup QB, not sure why the Bengals only brought in Trevor Sieman and kept him around when it was obvious he sucked.

There are more talented guys available but the Bengals went all in on inexperienced or washed-up backup QBs because it's not like having a good QB is needed to win in the NFL.

Actually I commend the Bengals for going out and getting Grier when they had the chance. If you check out his story there is some fire there. I am curious to see who they will start if Burrow is out. This to me was the big hole after the draft and free agency. Once the strained calf was a problem you realize that a hobbled superstar adds zero value to the football team. The Bengals can win with a serviceable backup - the talent is there. However, the schedule is brutal down the stretch. I suppose sitting Burrow for the next three might be the best scenario if he can't play and hope for the best. This ain't the playoffs like when Mahomes was limping his way to history. There is no way he is going to be available for the tough games this year if he toughs it out. I can't see any scenario where Joe is out there playing against SF if he is not at 100%. They will f'ing maul him.

  3. Anyone else impressed by Will Grier? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Grier

Seems like his road to the NFL was a bit rough but he seems to have some talent from the stats:

    College statistics[edit]

    Season Team GP Passing Rushing
Cmp Att Pct Yds TD Int Rtg Att Yds Avg TD
    2015 Florida 6 105 160 65.5 1,202 10 3 145.6 36 116 3.2 2
    2017 West Virginia 11 250 388 64.4 3,490 34 12 162.7 63 122 1.9 2
    2018 West Virginia 11 266 397 67.0 3,864 37 8 175.5 48 90 2.9 3
    Career[34] 28 621 945 65.7 8,556 81 23 165.2 147 328 2.2 7

Hopefully he learned his lesson with the performance enhancing drug problem he had that caused him to be suspended. I never watched him play but seems like he has a bit of arm strength and mobility. I might go back and watch the Dallas game for fun. I like to look at it as if we got a free 3rd round pick to be Joe's extra backup if needed. I would not have complained if the Bengals used a draft pick for this season or next. Not that I dislike Browning, but he doesn't seem to have the killer instinct that we need to replace Joe and win in the case of (heaven forbid) something happened. Pretty sure no one wants to see the results of Browning being the starter for an extended period of time.

  4. Not to be pessimistic on him...Joe B. is the one that matters. I have no issues with Mixon but he cannot shine without better play on the line. He certainly is a talented enough RB. In the future, I would like them to bring in or draft a faster Dobbins type to pair with him in a 2 back set. Perine has done fine in his role spelling Mixon as single back but not quite quick enough. Certainly tough enough. Not sure when Perine's contract is up? I do not see any position to break the bank on except Lineman, WR and Joe at this point. Mixon is worth the money but not at the cost of other positions. Traditionally, great passing offenses can plug just about anyone in at RB when you pass 75% of the time. His potential is very high but only 1 game this season has been moneyball for him
