  1. Never thought he would get a multi-year. Good for Drew.
  2. not the Mulghetta chart I was looking for - but a pretty god visual at the issue at hand. The Brown signing was a step in the right direction but still below what 3rd tier guys are getting gtd. Wise.
  3. If you’re talking about the Bengals - they’ve been pulling in a lot of extra cash doing concerts and things of that nature. Probably made a hefty sum having both of the Swift concerts at probably 70% of capacity. In terms of NFL - there were some questions regarding whether the Browns had done it for Watson. Seems like a dumb rule but I’m sure the owners love it because they don’t want to fully guarantee deals like the NBA/MLB and they can invest that money rather than it sitting there doing nothing. It’s where the rich owners can swing their dicks around a little more than “poor” small market guys. Big leg up.
  4. I would expect that news to probably make his market more robust. He doesn’t necessarily have to be 100% healthy to pass a physical. He’s probably going to be a wave 1 guy if he’s going to be ready during camp. Probably just loses out on some gtd. That he can make up through snap percentage.
  5. I would assume on a 4 year $90-$100M deal he would want at least 50-60% gtd. I think there was a chart floating out there that showed how Mulghetta usually gets in that area. Im sure the Bengals would give a healthy signing bonus and guarantee year 1 up to the $21.7M they are doing now. Probably in the $30-35M ranges likely why the two sides won’t be able to make it work. Was hoping the leverage they had would help especially coming off an injury ridden year but sounds like they are content to bet on themselves.
  6. They probably don’t have the extra liquid cash to put into escrow. Once you do it for one non-QB, the rest are going to start coming for it.! Jamarr will be the first real test.
  7. “Some free agents are coming off injuries and one is Bengals defensive tackle D.J. Reader, who tore his quad in December and hit the market a few months shy of his 30th birthday. I’m told the expectation is Reader will be ready for the season opener and could be cleared for the start of training camp—though it seems like whoever signs him will probably be careful with him through the summer.” Albert Breer.
  8. Guessing any chance of that ended when he didn’t take that handoff and ended up getting the quarterback hit in whatever game that was. It’s safe to assume their will be a new third down back via draft or FA.
  9. I think his biggest issue is that he’s a big back with no balance. At 230 - he’s as big as most linebackers. He’s not going to outrun them but he should be running through contact. He doesn’t do that. If they want to keep him on the roster, I think it’s a waste. But he should be taking all of his carries in short yardage and red zone. He’s not a threat to break one off because he’s slow and doesn’t break tackles. He’s pretty good at punching the ball in at the end zone and not fumbling. If they give him the ball 15 times a game next year they probably aren't going to win the AFCN.
  10. Clearly ”Joe Mixon is the same ineffective runner he was last season, checking in with the sixth most carries this campaign. Most of those haven't been pretty. According to PFF, among 41 qualified backs, Mixon ranks 31st in missed tackles forced per attempt, 28th in yards per carry, 36th in yards after contact per attempt, and 30th in breakaway percentage.”
  11. New right tackle is it. Probably won’t be as formidable as Jonah either.
  12. Every running back in the league looks good when offensive linemen are getting helmets on linebackers and safeties. If that’s the qualifier for Joe Mixon being good, I’ve got some sobering news for you regarding what the line is going to consist of next year.
  13. 14 minute highlight reel LOL. 10 minutes must be dedicated to that Cleveland practice squad game where they were helping him hit all his contract escalators.
  14. Fixing the line will help but they love to run duo and inside zone. It’s all fixated on the line getting double teams on interior linemen and springing the running back into the gap to take on linebackers. When you have a running back who can’t break tackles or isn’t explosive you can’t beat those linebackers. Get a dude who can make a man miss and the run game will look a lot better. That guy isn’t Joe. Joe shouldn’t be taking carries outside of the redzone at this point.
  15. Right tackle. Can’t take a glaring obvious need into the draft and not sure you can count on a rookie to line up across from Watt/Garrett week 1. Id be shocked if they weren’t thinking the same way.
  16. A lot of chatter around Geno Stone and it makes a lot of sense. Supposedly can’t tackle though. With how saturated the market is - I’d expect a real dude here that gets left behind by the market. Cannot have the issues they had last year because Dax doesn’t want to take the time to learn the playbook.
  17. Justin Simmons out in Denver. That one would be at the tippy top of my list. Paul and Jay have made it abundantly clear they’ve been hearing the Bengals are getting a vet safety. Vic Fangio in Philly probably makes the most sense there.
  18. If he was - you’d think he’d retire so Carolina wouldn’t have to take on so much dead money. Of course it could be a power play by him to make sure he gets all of his guarantees. He seemed pretty discontent being there last year.
  19. I think Sample is really only needed if they’re going to commit more to 12 personnel. I don’t think he gives you what you need from a lone tight end in 11 personnel. They like to get the tight end out into routes and if they want a personal protector in shotgun I’d prefer it to be a guy you could actually run RPO with. Id like to see him back paired with Bowers. That would signal they are serious about getting bigger bodies in there to run the ball, but as a standalone Y tight end he doesn’t stress the defense enough. Adam Trautman could be a pretty decent Y tight end if they want to stay in 11 and miss out on their top targets. Feels a little misutilized in the Payton offenses and has a pretty good RAS to suggest he could at least stress the middle of the field.
  20. Seems like all of the tea leaves point to the Bengals being proactive this year at tight end in free agency. Fant seems to fit the criteria. Second contract/can chew gum and run at the same time. It’s such a weak year overall for tight end. They really missed a nice opportunity to overhaul last year.
