1. I remember Onyx well and he is going to be sorely missed. I haven't posted on here in God knows how long but had to sign in to give my belated condolences to his family and friends. I used to really enjoy his insight on here.
2. Thanks Elflocko and Jamie, all are doing great. Up to 3 hoodlums running around the house causing havoc! Like I said I never left but time is not exactly abundant anymore so my mass posting days are over. I will try to put my two cents in here and there though. Started a new job earlier this year as well. Things are def good but def crazy at the same time. Wouldn't have it any other way though
3. You know when you are debating something with someone and then you say one phrase and the other person stops listening to your point and starts thinking of their retort to that one phrase you just made... Try to debate a topic with someone and bring up socialism in the middle of it and watch what happens 99% of the time. Not ragging the thread b/c its a worthy topic. However these distinctions drive me crazy. We all try to label ourselves or one another and it gets us nowhere. Rarely does a real debate happen where someone posts an idea and someone on "the other side" is like "yeah, I agree that is a good idea." I have ideas all over the board and I can't rightly define myself. I believe that the federal gov't does and should play a large role in our lives but many issues should be left up to the state. I believe that we are wasting billions of dollars in the war on drugs, although I think that we should be spending more on the war on hard drugs. I believe that if I lived in Mexico I would be trying to sneak into the greatest superpower this world has probably even known, but at the same time how can we turn our heads on illegal immigration and not try to stop it... But I also believe that building a giant bad ass wall isn't stopping anything and we have to find a smarter way to get immigrants in legally. How do we do that? I have no freaking idea but as long as we debate what a socialist, communist, fascist, liberal, libertarian or conservative is we are just spinning our wheels. That is my two cents. Sorry I don't post here much anymore fellas... I do miss most of you but I usually felt like I was talking to a wall and not getting anywhere but frustrated. I will never leave for good though
4. Does sound fishy... All happened before Calipari was recruiting him at UK and both UK and the NCAA checked out the situation before he played. I think there was probably some fishy shit going on at his high school but i am not worried for UK.
5.
Headed to the City to watch tonight's game! Go Wildcats!!!
Damn!!! That would be awesome.
6.
lmao. UK has some good talent on the team but billy g is a TERRIBLE coach. i hate UK and love seeing UK fans pissed so i hope billy g hangs around for a while.
go fuck yourself... VMI plays a crazy ass up tempo game and billy plays 95% man to man and never budges from it... We are not in good enough shape for that yet, but we'll all see who is laughing at the end of the year... We have way too much talent to not be good this year... The NC game could get ugly though...
7. Best story though comes from Brett Dawson of the Courier Journal who was standing with Coach Gillispie when it happened. He told me that Gillispie took it in stride and said, “I just thought it was the Kentucky fans coming in.” I love coach Gillespie.. 8.
From what I heard, they'll play again at 8:30, if they win. That still stinks. If we win the first game, there's no way we win again. I hope the comittee takes this into consideration on Sunday.
this is what i heard... still sucks, but not nearly as bad as practically 4 straight half's...
9. Right now, i go: 1. Chuch Hayes (I love a big man that can bring the ball up the court during the press... hayes did that constantly) 2. PP (already on my list... he'll be number 1 by next year probably) 3. Tayshawn (how can you not like prince? He and Jamal Mashburn are the best UK players i've seen play, but i just like the styles of both hayes and Patterson better... i love Tay though...)
10.
yeah...this is where I start to cheat a little in my analysis because of Patterson's Injury. For Centers and Forwards, I will look at their season averages compared to UK's last 3 games (ones without Patrick). TAMU Frontcourt: Joseph Jones (f/c): 27.3 mpg, 13.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.1 spg, .8 blocks pg, 3.4 personal fouls, .552fg%, .781ft%, .400 3pt % Antanas Kavaliauskas©:28.4 mpg, 11.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, .6 spg, .7 blocks pg, 3.1 personal fouls, .554fg%, .649ft%, .375 3pt% Marlon Pompey (f): 15.9 mpg, 3.5ppg, 2.8 rpg, .5 spg, .4 blocks pg, 2.5 personal fouls, .500fg%, .565ft%, .000 3pt% INTERESTING TO NOTE: Almost none of these guys who are still at Texas A&M have reached their averages from last year. This could be because they've added monster Center DeAndre Jordan, or it could be because BCG is no longer their coach. UK Frontcourt (I just look at 2 guys because who knows what to make of the Coury/Stewart debacle. They add about 8ppg/4rpg/3 personal fouls per game combined, anyway): Perry Stevenson: 35.3mpg, 11ppg, 10rpg, 1 spg, 3 blocks pg, 2.6 personal fouls per game Ramon Harris: 34.3mpg, 9ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1 spg, .66blocks pg, 4.3 personal fouls per game OPINION: If Perry can continue to produce and Ramon can stay out of foul trouble, these guys should be serviceable for a Sweet 16 appearance. I thought we might get 1 win before I compiled this stuff, but I'm feeling pretty good about our chances, right now. TAMU was a 3 seed last year (if I recall correctly), and so they may not have had as hard of a tourney schedule early on as we will.
3 blocks per game for perry... perry's defense is something that is not thought about by most people, but is probably the biggest reason why we've been able to weather the storm of PP... i don't like to see that 4.3 fouls per game on razor
11.
I was laying on my floor thinking about this today. BCG took the A&M Aggies to the Sweet 16 last year (and lost by 1 point to Memphis). How much better of a team did he have last year? Well, I decided to look at the Top 7 Players of each team (by minutes), and here is what I came up with (obviously unable to take things like defensive presence into mind): GUARDS: TAMU Acie Law IV:34mpg. 18+ppg, 3.3 rpg, 5 apg, 3.6 topg, 1.1 steals, 2.4 personal fouls .500fg%; .778ft%; .4583pt% Josh Carter (g/f): 29mpg. 11.8ppg, 4 rpg, 4apg, 1.1topg, .7 steals, 2.0 personal fouls .492fg%; .778ft%; .500 3pt% Dominique Kirk: 30mpg. 7.2ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3apg, 1.1topg, .9 steals, 2.6 personal fouls .436 fg%; .690ft%; .390 3pt% Donald Sloan: 17.8mpg. 5.2ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.8apg. 1.2topg, .7 steals, 1.3 personal fouls .489fg%; .667ft%; .333 3pt% UK Crawford and Bradley are averaging 16 and 17 ppg, respectively, and I think we actually have a better backcourt than last years TAMU team if Meeks comes back (unlikely). I'll post more of this witless insight later on.
damn... nice work 22... can't wait for the full break downs... who was their C? Did you notice the 8-8 conference record this year, without billy and with DeAndre Jordan? after rereading my post from earlier ikota, i seem to be a little cocky (which is a personal dislike of mine)... sorry to come acrossed that way, and maybe it is the mentality of UK fans, but i truly think that we can pull it off this year because we have been in these situations all year and our team is built to do good in the tournament...
12. I am not worried about injures and big men, b/c this team is based on mental toughness and knowing that we can and will win each and every game...
13. Who cares who we play or where we're seeded? As mentioned on here, our team is breaming with confidence, we have are game plan set in stone everyday, we have senior leadership to execute the plan, we have one of the best free free shooting teams in the country, and our freshman and sophemores are starting grow up... life is good in Lexington... i hope everyone has the attitude of ikota, b/c then noone will see it coming... they will be laughing about gardner webb and san diego while we're laughing at the results Go BIG BLUE BITCHES!!!
14. now THAT was a game... your team pulled it off and played well today, vol...
15. – Gillispie once again praised Patrick Patterson for a great effort, calling him “an unbelievable player.” He also joked that he sat Patrick for 30 seconds, which was “the most he has rested in a conference game. He should be rested now for Saturday.”
16.
Oh it definitely helps - it is a good win for them and gets them an 8th win... Just count it up though - they're 8-9 with 12 regular season games left... with games at Georgia, at Vandy, at Tennessee, and Ole Miss and Florida coming to Lexington. That was just the tough ones I saw. Obviously, I don't know how many it'll take to get into the tourney but mathematically Kentucky is going to have to be lights out (like win 10 of 12) down the stretch and then win a couple in the SEC tourney just to get to 20 wins. In years past, for the most part, that was the magic number that teams had to get to to have any legit shot. A few exceptions have been made and one could be made for Kentucky - or they could go to Atlanta and win the SEC tourney and get the auto bid I guess... Once they've played a few tough ones away from home and won a couple then I'd think Big Blue country would breath A LOT easier. The next month should be interesting for both of our schools!
no doubt... we HAD to win last night, and watching patterson he knew it... he played better than i've seen him yet, and that is saying soemthing... the question is, how long can they keep it up? They are playing bradley and patterson 40 minutes every game... it has to be tough... imagine how good of shape those boys are in thoguh... and you are right... its easier playing in rupp...
17. This will help UK get into the tournament... at this point, that is priority one b/c it wasn't looking good prior to last night... Here is what is changing: - We are getting healthier... With Jasper and Meeks back, we now are about 7 or 8 deep, and most of the year we were 7 deep, but that included neoplean dynomite (coury) and Porter (who shouldn't be playing)... I heard Gillispie talking the other day, and he said that b/c of injuries he hasn't been able to extend the pressure full court... once jasper and meeks get their endurance up, we should be in good shape.. - The start of the year, i HATED "showtime" crawford... he is buying in now, which is HUGE!!! - Jasper makes this team a thousand times better... and meeks gives us the athleticsm we need - Patterson is the best i've ever seen, potential wise... he just does things the right way... - If we make the tournment, we should be watched carefully... we are money from free throw line, we have good defense, and we are getting healthy and buying in at the right time...
18.
It appears Darius Miller has decided to go to Kentucky. Kentucky fans just need to accept that the college basketball landscape has changed and they shouldn't expect to land top recruits. Signed, Every coach that enjoyed Kentucky not being in the mix for top talent and every analysis that enjoyed Kentucky being on the same level as Vandy.
this is news to me... what is he, and PF for 08-09?
