  1. 49ers v The Cleveland Sanitation Workers pre game Can guys be thrown out of a game before it starts?
  2. Gotta say it... Mixon isn't the answer. Probably nothing can or will be done over the bye week but he is virtually useless in short yardage and can't all be blamed on the O line. Diving into a pile on 4th and 1... Child, please.
  3. With all due respect, I think that would be one game too many. Yesterday lost in the wash was a 3rd and 4 where he had a three yard reception. Nope And a missed pass. Hudson's time is now and I am still so intrigued by our 6'8" 245 practice squad pick up from Pittsburgh, Zac Gentry. Big target? Him and Drew Sample in a two tight end set for blocking? FWIW Also... not sure if noticed but Sample was in the backfield with Joe a few times.
  4. The Sois Bowl Forecast CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Sunday is going to look and feel a lot like Saturday. We will see cloudy skies much of the day with light rain at times. Rain will not be the big problem but the winds will be very noticeable. Winds will gust as high as 25mph this afternoon. If you are going to the Bengals game, grab some extra layers to prepare for that fall chill in the air. Current temp as I gear up to leave 51º. Wind chill will make it nasty. Gearing up to leave now...
  5. Excellent! E'd her (the artist), got a pleasant reply and added to her mailing list. Nothing yet. She said she is creating a website of nothing but Bengals prints. Speaking of dinner... drove past The Precinct last evening around 7:00. Two tour busses parked across the street so I guess we know where the Seahawks had dinner.
  6. Remind me... when exactly is the trade deadline? How about Jackson Carman for CEH? Still like to get Big Johnson III from the Detroit (?) practice squad and put Tupou on our practice squad to make room.
  7. Seagulps Press https://www.yahoo.com/sports/week-6-preview-prediction-seahawks-151111676.html Week 6 preview and prediction: Seahawks at Bengals The Seattle Seahawks are back in action following their Week 5 bye, and hopefully they used their week off wisely as they have a challenging showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. This will be Seattle’s first visit to the Queen City since 2015 where they blew a 24-7 lead in the fourth quarter to lose 27-24 in overtime. The Seahawks and Bengals last played each other in the Week 1 opener for the 2019 season, where Seattle narrowly defended home turf with a 21-20 win. Both these teams are a far cry from either of the last two iterations of themselves. The Seahawks are trying to prove they are a resurgent force in the NFC, while the Bengals are trying to keep their status as an AFC heavyweight. Like last year, Cincinnati was off to a slow start. The Bengals were 1-3 with only three offensive touchdowns to their names before they erupted with an explosive 34-20 win over Arizona. Quarterback Joe Burrow finally looked like himself, throwing for 317 yards and scores. Sunday will be a big test for both teams. Seattle is the only team so far to have beaten the Lions, but their last two games were against bad teams and they looked shaky at times in them. Meanwhile, the Bengals will look to prove they truly are back, and that last week was not simply a product of playing the inferior Cardinals. History is on the side of the Seahawks, who are 16-4 in their last twenty trips to the eastern time zone. But Cincinnati has the power of desperation on their side. Prediction: Bengals over Seahawks 31-24 After this week, the Bengals have a stretch where they will play the 49ers, Bills, Texans, Ravens, Stealers and Jaguars. Since Cincinnati has already squandered two seemingly winnable games against Cleveland and Tennessee, they’ll need to bank wins where they can get them. Going into the murderer’s row they’re about to face at 3-3 is a lot different than 2-4. The wide receiver trio of Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd and potentially the return of Tee Higgins is a handful for any secondary, especially one as young as Seattle’s. The ground attack led by Joe Mixon means the Seahawks defense has to stay honest, and if Joe Burrow truly is fully healthy, he will be difficult to bring down – even if he’s playing behind a shaky offensive line facing a defensive front that recorded eleven sacks the last time they played. The Seahawks offense should remain well-oiled, especially since they are getting healthier. But the Bengals simply have far too much firepower. Something to keep an eye on: the usually reliable Jason Myers already has four missed field goals this year, surpassing his total of three from last year. Combine Myers’ shakiness with Seattle’s struggles on third down and in the redzone, and you have a recipe for leaving far too many points on the field. If the Seahawks want a win in a shootout, they’ll need to extend drives and finish them in the end zone.
  8. Trap game? Seagulls coming off a bye week and looks like they have a strong pass rush (not good for us) and decent tight ends including one real big huggy bear. Getting the cart ahead of the horse and food for thought for the future Bye Week thread but I really want to see what we do with two weeks before the the 49ers. Specifically, as far as personnel. Are the big TE and OLman on our practice squad ready to step up and contribute? Raiding other teams' practice squads? Maybe even McCarron up, Browning down? Get rid of some dead wood? I will not be happy if we stand pat and continue to try to pound square pegs into round holes.
  9. At the time of the final report going live, only one player was listed as out: LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (Out) CB Chidobe Awuzie (Questionable) LB Devin Harper (Questionable) WR Tee Higgins (Questionable) DT Josh Tupou (Questionable) That first full practice for Higgins was the first since his rib injury on October 1, so it’s potentially a sign he’ll be good to go, barring something unexpected during warmups on Sunday. It’s a similar vibe for top cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who aggravated a back issue last week and missed the win over the Cardinals. Bengals coaches want to gauge his readiness — and that of all four 50-50 guys — before kickoff. Josh Tupou is a new addition to the report, while rookie Myles Murphy is back off of it and good to go after a personal matter. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Tupou will be inactive. Wonder if there has been any thought to snatching Big Johnson III off the Detroit (?) practice squad to our 53 and trying to get Tupou on to our practice squad? Doesn't seen to be a lot of help stopping the run.
  10. Isley Brothers founding mender. The Pride of Lincoln Heights and, imho, THE Best Rock and R&B group ever. Up there with Little Richard and Chuck Berry for making rock and roll great. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/entertainment/music/2023/10/12/rudolph-isley-obituary-isley-brothers/ Cincinnati native Rudolph Isley, founding member of The Isley Brothers, dies at 84 Singer-songwriter Rudolph Isley, one of the founding members of the R&B group The Isley Brothers, has died. He was 84. Isley's brother Ronald confirmed his death in a statement to USA TODAY Thursday. A cause of death was not disclosed. TMZ was the first to report the news. "There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother," Ronald said. "Our family will miss him. But I know he's in a better place." Comprised of brothers Rudolph, Marvin, O'Kelly, Ronald and Ernie Isley and rounded out with musician Chris Jasper, the Isleys formed in Cincinnati and at one time included five brothers. Raised in Lincoln Heights and Blue Ash, brothers O'Kelly, Rudolph, Ronald and Vernon Isley started out singing in church. They began performing together in 1954 and appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour, winning the competition. The group disbanded in 1955 after 13-year old Vernon was struck and killed by a car as he was riding his bike in his neighborhood. (**Vernon was hit and killed by a Mr Softee ice cream truck) n 1957, with their parents' blessing, the remaining brothers decided to regroup and move to New York, with brother Ronnie assuming lead vocals. They signed with RCA Records and in 1959 wrote and recorded their first hit, "Shout." They scored their first Top 40 single with Scepter Records in 1962 with the song "Twist and Shout." In 1964, they left Scepter and formed T-Neck Records, with Jimi Hendrix playing lead guitar for the brothers' band on several singles. In 1969, the brothers signed a distribution deal with Buddah Records and found success with "It's Your Thing," which reached #2 on the Hot 100 singles chart. e Isley Brothers are the only act to have singles reach the Billboard Hot 100 during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Rudolph Isley was one of the group's primary songwriters and co-wrote the Brothers' breakthrough "Shout," released in 1959. After being immortalized in the 1978 comedy "Animal House," the song has been used as a rallying cry at sporting events ever since. The group went on to enjoy other hits with songs such as "Twist and Shout," "It's Your Thing," "That Lady" and "Fight The Power." When their song "Contagious" climbed the charts in 2001, it gave them the distinction of being the act with the longest chart span on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart at 42 years. The Isley Brothers have been nominated for multiple Grammy awards and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2014, the band also received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Recording Academy. They were inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame in 2021. The band was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2022. Representing the group at the ceremony were Elaine Isley Goodstone, Ernie Isley and Ronald Isley. During the induction, Ernie Isley reminded guests that their early hit “Shout” was recorded six decades ago and the reach of their music would go on for years, prompting the Beatles to cover them. The two men then joined up for a medley of hits that included “That Lady," “It’s Your Thing” and “Between the Sheets.” (Ernie, the youngest and late comer to the group plays the brilliant guitar solo on "Who's That Lady")
  11. Ironic... https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2023/10/13/bengals-call-broncos-samaje-perine-trade/ Bengals should call Broncos about a Samaje Perine trade
  12. Both Myles Garrett and Za'Darius Smith both in the top ten. yipes! Trey slightly > Chase Young
  13. True. Too bad they don't have the same luxury with Irv Smurf Jr Hudson > Smurf
  14. We come down from the second level. The trick is when everyone is in a crush going out of the stadium we go back in and around missing the crowd on the concourse.
  15. For us... A trick my son and I have discovered is that when you make it down to the Plaza level, stay inside the stadium until you reach the exit for Gate D which leads directly to The Banks and N/S streets into downtown. Most people rush to get out of the stadium and cause a mass of humanity on the concourse. Much quicker to avoid that and stay in the stadium making your way to the exit rather than fighting the drunke herd outside. JMHO
  16. Today's Sunday weather forecast. Sounds like a good day for football "Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop to the 50s on both Saturday and Sunday. Light showers also will be possible throughout both days. Bengals fans, get your rain gear ready. It won’t rain much Sunday but being wet with temperatures in the 50s means you will be uncomfortable chilly." https://www.fox19.com/weather/
  17. That's what I thought, too. Trevone missed the hand off and Joe was standing there with a live ball and nowhere to go.
