  1. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after Sunday's win over the Bengals that he didn't think wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s ankle injury "will be serious" and he didn't say anything different at a Monday press conference. Harbaugh said that the Ravens had learned more about the injuries suffered by Beckham, who did not play in the second half, and edge rusher Odafe Oweh, who was in a walking boot ahead of the press conference. He said he would decline to share any of that information beyond saying that there is not a long-term issue with either player's health. "We got a lot more information," Harbaugh said. "I’m going to keep that close to the vest, though, right now. I’ll tell you this, if there’s any long-term issue we’ll let you know what it is. If it’s going to be anything like a kind of an IR thing or anything like that. We’re not there yet with anybody." Barring any unscheduled updates from Harbaugh, Wednesday's practice will be the the first chance to check in on the status of both players. The Ravens will host the Colts in Week Three.
  2. Still mulling this over... Oktoberfest + binge drinking at the stadium + The Banks DORA after was the perfect storm. I'm also of the mind that there are now more than ever two types of fans and LOTS of daytrippers who go. Those who go for the game and those who go for the game day experience of dressing up, binge drinking and bragging rights often in Ms Chokesondick's 4th grade class the next day... "I went to a Bengals game yesterday".
  3. My personal jury is still out and am "wait and see" but it perhaps explains all the horizontal passes and not going downfield if he can't plant his leg to throw. He's definitely off. Ja'Marr is right about throwing downfield to open the underneath stuff but apparently Joe can't throw downfield or at least accurately. Maybe Joe can get the name of a good masseuse from Watson and rub in the witch hazel horse liniment and be ready to go Monday.
  4. https://www.foxnews.com/sports/browns-deshaun-watson-avoids-ejection-pushing-official-commits-2-personal-fouls-loss Browns' Deshaun Watson avoids ejection after pushing official, commits 2 personal fouls in loss Watson's costly fumble resulted in the Stealers' go-ahead touchdown Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson had an aggressive night against the Pittsburgh Stealers on Monday and appeared to get a little chippy with some of the opposing players. In the third quarter, Watson ran to his left and tried to escape Stealers linebacker Kwon Alexander as he went out of bounds. However, Watson grabbed Alexander’s facemask, and their momentum together pushed the defender toward the Stealers bench. Alexander and the Stealers coaches and players on the sidelines were not happy. Alexander had to be held back, and as Watson started to chip, he appeared to push an official out of the way. Contact with an official is supposed to warrant an ejection, but Watson stayed in the game. Instead, Watson was flagged for unnecessary roughness – a personal foul, and it would not be the only one of the night. Watson was again flagged for a personal foul in the fourth quarter on a scramble. He grabbed linebacker Nick Herbig by the facemask and pushed him down to the ground. Cleveland was up 22-19 at that point, but it would not last long. The Browns quarterback later fumbled, and Stealers star T.J Watt picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown. Pittsburgh went up 26-22 and never looked back. Watson was 22-for-40 with 235 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception which was returned for a touchdown. He was sacked six times.
  5. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/columnists/jason-williams/2023/09/19/nfl-stadium-experience-fans-fight-cincinnati-dallas-houston-beer-drunk/70894223007/ Williams: Brawls, puking, f-bombs. It's all part of the NFL stadium experience Jason Williams Cincinnati Enquirer “Did you have fun at the game?” I texted a friend after filing my column on Sunday night. “Saw somebody throw up in the stadium, another person get arrested at The Banks and still another get in a fight,” she responded after going to the Bengals game at Paycor Stadium. Yep, pretty much sums up the NFL stadium experience. Brawls. Puking. F-bombs. All that for just $225 a ticket (as my friend paid). What a deal! NFL barbarism scored a hat trick (yes, I know, wrong sport) on Sunday. Some fans flexed their beer muscles in Cincinnati, Dallas and Houston, where fights broke out on stadium concourses. It was particularly bloody in Dallas. You’ve seen the viral video or heard about the 25-year-old barbarian in tiger-striped overalls who viciously headbutted a dude on the Paycor Stadium concourse even as he was handcuffed and being restrained by sheriff's deputies. Get used to seeing more of this type of behavior at an NFL stadium near you. Sadly, there isn’t much of a solution to curb the barbarism. These stadiums all have plenty of gameday security already. The NFL answers to no one and is immune to accountability. The world’s most popular league by revenue isn’t going to suddenly gain a conscience and start running PSAs on the dangers of binge-drinking and respecting other fans. PSAs wouldn't work anyway. The league is in bed with major beer makers. Bud Light is reportedly spending an “enormous amount” of money on NFL advertising this season, according to Yahoo Finance. Let’s say you’re tired of going to games because of the uncouth and vulgar behavior. You’re going to watch the game on TV instead. Unfortunately, you’re still contributing to the binge-drinking culture of the NFL. Television advertising is where the NFL makes most of its beer money. I'm not casting stones, merely stating a fact. I watch NFL games on TV, too. Barstool Sports celebrates this stuff. The digital media site shared the video of the headbutter. Barstool promotes piggish behavior among fans – binge-drinking, overindulging on crappy food and yelling vulgarities at the teams you hate (and love, actually), and antagonizing opposing fans. Real winners. Generally, you don’t see this churlish behavior at Major League Baseball and college football games. Baseball isn’t preceded by hourslong tailgate parties. Baseball also doesn't typically attract a clientele that thrives on watching violence and constant action. College football has tailgate parties. It's a violent sport, too. But many fans have a personal connection to the university as an alum, donor, employee or family member of a graduate. That can foster a level of respect for fellow fans and the stadium. People ask me regularly about going to NFL games. I always tell them, and have for years: An NFL stadium is no place for a kid under high school age. I'd never take my sons, 10 and 6, to an NFL game. Sunday reinforced that.
  6. OMG... Just saw jungle tiger's post and clip. Horrible cheap shot. Fitzpatrick should be suspended for the year or longer.
  7. Not watching the game. I'm sure there will be twitters tomorrow. Right now it looks like who will be King of the North will be the one to win the war of attrition.
  8. I'm intrigued by the 6'8" 265 lb Tight End pick up from Pittsburgh who is on the practice squad. Bring him up, Wilcox to inactive list or practices squad and see what the big guy can do. Bigger target and has to be a better blocker than Irv the Smurf. Anyone seen anything about Nick Scott who got dinged and was last seen walking into the locker room?
  9. The Rams as far as I'm concerned are Aaron Donald and some other people. He might show up on their injury report all week for losing sleep anticipating facing Jonah Williams and Ira Smurf Jr.
  10. https://www.fox19.com/2023/09/18/man-charged-with-being-disorderly-while-intoxicated-approaching-officers-using-fighting-posture/ Man facing multiple charges for ‘headbutting’ incident caught on video after Bengals game CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A Covington man who was caught on video ‘headbutting’ a fan after a Sunday’s Bengals game is facing charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated, resisting arrest and assault. Andrew Giordano, 38, was arrested at Paycor Stadium “after displaying disruptive and disrespectful behavior that rose to the level of a criminal offense,” Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Kyla Woods said. Video of the incident, obtained by Barstool Sports, shows Giordano on the ground in handcuffs. Giordano is being escorted out of the area by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputies when he apparently exchanges words with another fan and then headbutts him. Deputies and stadium security pull Giordano away as you see the fan lying on the ground. Video of the headbutting shared by Barstool Sports has been seen more than 10 million times. Giordano’s bond was set at $4,000 10% cash during a court appearance before Judge Tyrone Yates Monday morning. In a separate incident, a man was arrested in downtown Cincinnati Sunday after refusing to listen to police and then resisting arrest. Eric Bridges, 22, of Dayton, refused to leave the area after they asked and “approached officers using a fighting posture,” according to his criminal complaint. Police also say he yanked away from officers when they tried to take him into custody and refused to put his hands behind his back, court records state. It took three officers to take Bridges into custody at 100 Broadway Street, which is Heritage Bank Center, according to his arrest report and the criminal complaints. His bond was set at $1,250 10% by Judge Ted Berry.
  11. I think we are seeing a lot of day trippers. Never been to a Bengals game before and have to OD on the situation just to have bragging rights of "I was there". Still amazed how now how many people bring several little kids and pay Club Seat prices for them to... "cheer"?... and I did see several people/women with infants in the pack carry things. Why would anyone bring an infant to a Bengals game? Personally, I would like to see the Bengals get back more to football and less the so-called "fan experience". I would like to see them change the constant annoying, blaring "Get Loud" prompts for opening the gates 15 minutes early when the lines are two blocks down the street. BTW... two jr high age kids and mommy came into Ruby's (yes...sorry) wearing street vendor Fuck the Browns (front) Bitch, I'm a Bengals Fan (back) t-shirts. I'm surprised they let them in. We didn't see any fights, either. See those at Steeler games.
  12. OK. But Joe had a lot of company in the backfield. And not disagreeing with your point. And I still go with my criticism of Irv Smith. Did not have a good day all around as far as game day experience. Trying to come up with some way to phrase it besides "get off my lawn" but I thought the game was secondary to getting drunk, dressing up and screaming.
  13. It made national news. he could replace Myles Murphy who spent a lot of time on the field seemingly at the expense of Hendrickson and Murphy did jack shit. He thinks rather than reacts and ends up getting pushed around while doing so. P.S. Irv Smith is not the answer. Last week v Elfland comments were made about on 3rd and nine, guys running eight yard routes. That was Irv. He blocks like he is in a pillow fight. If the big huggy bear on the practice squat (Freudian typo... seems soooo fitting) tight end we picked up from Pittsburgh is up to speed, bring him up. The Jonah Williams/Irv Smith combo on the right side of the O line may be is the poorest in the NFL. Myles Garrett steals Jonah's lunch money and gives him a wedgie every time they play. And Aaron Donald is coming to town next Monday. Irv is yet another square peg the Bengals are trying to pound in to a round hole like Jackson Carman.
  14. I'm reading the authorized biography of Little Richard. Wop bop a loo bop a lop bom bom! **highly recommended...
  15. Gearing up and getting ready to go down. Orange #5 Higgins jersey, Jeff Ruby's Downtown post game meal... hopefully a victory celebration. I SO hope we win (duh) even more so because it will go a long way to breaking this rotten mood I've been in all week.
  16. Uberprops to Pumpkin and the Punmkinettes for coming up with this right before the home opener. Brilliant! And very, very, cool.
  17. While wide receiver Amari Cooper has not appeared on the injury report all week, the top receiver of the Cleveland Browns tweaked his groin in Saturday’s practice and is now listed as questionable against the Pittsburgh Stealers on Monday night.
  18. Reminder... If you did not get your season ticket holder gift for this season, they will be available at the game. May only be for Club tix. I didn't go because you had to pay for parking and combined with some dog and pony show where people/little whippersnappers could go run around on the field. Wasn't into the cost or crowd.
  19. You can request them. I really do have an ancient flip phone with none of the app stuff. Son and I go down separately so it works great for us, too. This season I went down to the ticket office and they printed them out and handed them to me right then.
