This is the one area that I lean Libertarian.

It isn't the governments responsibility to police social media for anything other than potential terror threats. If your kids are spending too much time on social media, that's something you should deal with. If you don't like the content they see, again put blockers on the apps.

The idea that China is using TikTok to dumb down our populace as a way to make us weaker is kind of a hard sell to me, our populace is already dumb enough, they don't need TikTok to help that.

If anything I think I believe this is more of a way for those in power to stop Gen Z from organizing as TikTok has been the predominate way they have been doing that.

    Speaking of Gen Z:

I didn't see the "cutting off internet" part of it. They threatening to cut it off if people access the app? It's not going to go that far anyway, no matter how much I hate Tiktok, and the people that use it for stupid dancing videos or cry videos. Hell, take the whole internet away from everyone. It's only caused division anyway.

Tiktok sent out this message to users to talk to their local representative (congress) and let them know you want to stop the ban on Tiktok. There were quite a few threats sent to different offices (most likely by children who don't know any better), or messages that say if they ban it then they would kill themselves. I then understood why a ban would be good. People spend far too much time on their "devices". When I get home my phone goes on the charger until the next day, or if I need to take it to the store with me to access music. I spend maybe 10-30 mins a day with my phone.

Do you get a lot of texts?  Take social media out of it, I could be on my phone for 30+ minutes a day off texting alone.

It's happening all over the Western world, they want to make you uncomfortable so you are forced to deal with their suffering..at least you have an excuse for being late to work.

I went to see the National Christmas Tree in December and walking the backside of the White House to get to the path I needed to, there was a small protest happening.

Fortunately, DC has a transit system that is very good and goes to multiple suburbs.  But, unless you are listening to WTOP (the news station in DC), you may not know about this happening till it is too late.

Around 900 Jews from Detroit flew to D.C. to join a protest march against Hamas, seeking return of hostages taken on October 7th. However bus drivers who had been contracted to pick up the group from Washington Dulles airport learned of the purpose of the trip, and reportedly engaged in a sick out, refusing to pick up the group. After scrambling for transportation around 600 people made it, while 300 – stuck on the tarmac for hours – eventually returned home.

They earn credits while in HS?

My oldest niece resides in Florida and her school district has a program to get college credits while in HS.  I think it is called duel enrollment.

Don't go too soon, we got to share a beer.

I miss Onyx every day. A few of us have made it a point to visit his grave as a group once a year around the time of his passing.  He and I were nothing alike other than our shared love of the Bengals, but our humor and silliness bound us. I'll still speak to him every so often in the metaphysical sense. I've been lucky enough to store away a good chunk of change since starting my job at Microsoft almost 2 years ago, at the time we made the superbowl I didn't have the money to go, and there was a campaign done by some locals for "no fan left behind" that they put fans who left us on t-shirts, I got his on one but never saw if he made it in the stadium with someone. If we make it again, Ill be sure to go myself and be sure he gets there with me.

Bunghole is on my Facebook friends list, he's around but not as much.

Damn, it's been nearly 2 years at Microsoft?  It certainly doesn't feel like it!
