  1. How would you feel about Nijman and Adam Butler? That's probably where we end up. Keep Reader...Draft a RT Rd 1, DT Rd 2
  2. I really do think half the fans don't pay any attention. The team has said....all the way to Burrow that they want more explosiveness. Mixon was cooked in that area. His advanced stats showed he basically got what was blocked and broke no tackles. Moss on the other hand was not...he got more than what is blocked and was far more elusive. There is no such thing as a bridge player at RB really in the sense you are talking about it. Moss got a 2 year deal because they don't want anything to do with a RB beyond that age and mileage. It wouldn't surprise me if they drafted a RB but they certainly won't be drafting the RB of the future and Moss won't be a bridge to them. They will roll with Moss-Brown for the next 2 years with Williams and a Rookie maybe contributing. Mixon might get more yards because he might be the primary back in Houston. It's very unlikely he will have more explosive plays then Brown or Moss.
  3. Alot of twitter is freaking out about DT being such a big hole and us not signing anyone. Once again I think it's just patience. The contracts signed, other than Malcolm Roach have been dumb. We are looking for what essentially is a player in a 3 man rotation of Hill-Rookie-Free Agent. There are a dozen guys left who can do that well. There are some guys who can play nose....but no one anywhere close to Reader. I hope he never gets on the plane to Detroit. 3Ts available 1-Armstead 2-Rankins 3-Joseph-Day 4-Hand-Dolphins 5-Watts-Stealers 6-Tillery 7-Urban 8-Butler-Raiders 9-Poona Ford 10-Taven Bryan 11-DeShawn Williams Nose 1-John Jenkins 2-Tart 3-Mone 4-Purcell
  4. Love it. I view him as a replacement for Jones who is replacing Boyd and a replacement for Irv Smith....who sucks at sports. He is a fantastic backup TE and slot who might start at TE technically.
  5. I said it months ago. Literally was my first post about RBs
  6. There is a RB in this class that played WR up until last year, Tyrone Tracy of Purdue. Imagine you add him. You run out with Chase-Can play Outside or Slot Jones-Played mostly outside in college but is now playing slot Gesicki-Plays slot mostly but can play inline and has played 20% outside in his career Sample-Plays mostly inline but played in the backfield last year. Tracy-Could play RB but could obviously be flexed out. Teams would have no idea what lineup was coming.
  7. We pay nothing that isn't already paid. The draft pick would be league minimum and if it's conditional that might be 2025.
  8. If you think this is funny you aren't paying attention to what matters. We all saw the difference between Mixon and Brown.
  9. Every advanced stat says Mixon basically generated no extra yards and Moss generated a ton.
  10. I have loved free agency Returned TE who we absolutely needed Returned a backup LB who basically give us 3 starting LBs Returned versatile backup G Returned special teamer at RB with some upside Got a FS that we needed because our other one couldn't call the plays and the LBs didn't trust him. Was making simple mistakes week 18. Got a RB that is younger and more elusive than the other RB we had and he can pass block better Got a TE/WR who I don't think solves TE but gives us another versatile weapon for this offense and I am never against those. We haven't lost a player I wanted back. We haven't overpaid for anyone. The top WR contract on the market is one that is easily doable for us and could be matched for Higgins We still have like 30 million to spend or something.
  11. I'd probably wait this year but wouldn't be against it. You really want Moss and Brown to get the most snaps. If you draft a guy this year you are basically killing a year of his rookie contract for nothing if not 2. You do it next year that limits it.
  12. I do love the Gesicki signing but he's not the kind of TE we like. Think Cade Stover in the 3rd. Essentially he's a rotational slot WR/TE at this point....which I think Joe Burrow will love.....and we need. You could essentially platoon Jones-Gesicki-Irwin at slot WR and just be done with it.
  13. He is 28 and basically a slot receiver at this point....which we need. This is ok but he doesn't block at all. He is a weapon and I love adding weapons but he's not a blocker. He aligned in the slot 71% of the time. Compare that to Hudson at 50%
  14. After Day 1 While I like adding veterans at every position, tight end, DT and RT are the only positions where we have to sign someone. QB Burrow 29 Browning 25 Could be targeting another veteran for the third camp arm: Logan Woodside makes some sense as a former draft pick. RB Moss 26 Brown 27 Williams 25 Evans 25 Moss made the most sense of every back available in FA and we got him at a bargain. You can go to camp with these 4 plus some UDFAs but I assume a draft pick is coming. CEH doesn't make a ton of a sense. He's never played a special teams snap in KC. WR Chase 26 Iosivas 27 Pryor WR Higgins 25 Jackson WR Jones 27 Lassiter Malik Wright said they feel ok at WR and will wait until the draft. If we want to save money we have to be willing to play cheap unknown players a bit more. I expect Irwin back but they probably want to give some snaps to Jones, Yoshi and the 3 futures guys to see if they can develop. It's not out of the question Lassiter, Pryor or Jackson make the 53 man roster. They could hedge at Slot pretty easily: Curtis Samuel, Darnell Mooney, Parris Campbell, Braxton Berrios, Jamal Agnew, Quez Watkins, Deonte Harty, Scotty Miller. Samuel and Mooney are probably going to get paid. The rest will probably be under 3.5M. I don't know what happens if they decide to trade Higgins. There aren't any starting outside WRs. Maybe Marquise Brown. I really wish Higgins would just take the Pittman deal. That seems fair. TE Sample 27 Sample is back and settles the blocking position. Hudson probably is on his way back. There are still a bunch of potential starters left: Everett, Hopkins, Thomas, Gesicki, Trautman, Hurst...all have variant levels of excitement. We need one of them Everett is 30 but settles the position the most Thomas was coached by Taylor and had 51 catches last year despite his age (33) Hopkins is the type of guy we sign, buried on the depth chart at LAR with some upside. Gesicki is really just a slot guy. Probably too close to Hudson and Hudson comes cheaper Trautman played at Dayton, still young at 27, Hurst might be done but he would come cheap. We need someone to start. This feels a bit like last year when all the chairs were full and Irv Smith was left. I get not paying a ton for TE's. And it's not working for teams, but what we are doing isn't really working either. LT Brown 27 Carman 25 LG Volson 26 Ford 25 C Karras 25 Hill 25 Gilliam RG Cappa 26 Kirkland RT Smith 25 Cochran 25 Fords back and that's good. I hope Scharping is next. Those 2 make it easier to stack the rest of the depth chart with rookies. There is a world where Kirkland becomes the backup G with upside. He played mostly tackle at Washington. Smith-Carman and Hill are all in their last years so a load of picks at the position makes sense. For now RT is the biggest need: Trent Brown, Nijman, Fant, Fleming, Becton. Wynn. There is an outside chance Jonah is back. LE Hubbard 26 Sample 25 Ossai 25 LT Tufele 25 Bell 25 RT Hill 25 Carter 26 Davis Maxwell 26 RE Hendrickson 26 Murphy 27 Gunter There are 2 gaping holes where at NT and rotational 3T. Reader could fill one if he is back. The draft could fill the other. It's not necessary to get a 3T in FA. Nose: Reader, Davis, Tart, Jenkins 3T: Jones, Roach, Rankins, Joseph Day WLB Pratt 26 Davis-Gaither 25 Heyward MLB Wilson 28 Harper 26 This could actually be it. They brought in Harper for a reason late last year. With ADG coming back you have a plug and play backup LB. Bailey and Bache would be great to get back but it's not necessary. S Battle 27 Scott 26 Anderson 26 S Stone 26 Hill 27 Safety is set in FA and might be for camp. Scott really doesn't need to be cut. He'd save you 2.3 million and the vet minimum is 1.25. Having a vet with starts in your system as a backup is probably with 1M. He's played loads of special teams. They likely keep him through camp and he battles with Anderson for a spot. CB Taylor-Britt 26 George CB Turner 27 Ivey 27 NB Hilton 25 Davis 25 With Hill likely moving to the bench it's possible he is the 4th corner. Turner flashed some but they likely want a veteran at the position. Rumors were they were seeking out Kendall Fuller. The list of corners who could fit this spot is long. That market has moved at all.
