1.
Kentucky is going to go off on them Tony Delk style.
With a side of Jeff Sheppard and Cameron Mills! Oh, and Josh Harrelson is the reincarnation of Scott Padgett. Without the 3-ball shot.
 2.
Finally, UK is an under dog with nothing to lose. I invoke the spirit of Richie Farmer and Travis Ford to have them guide all of Knight and Lamb's 3 pointers to the bottom of the net on Friday.
And Gimel Martinez too! You can't fuck with the spirit of that porn stache!

 4.
Really, really, really, hope UK beats WVU. I loathe Joe Maturdla. Plus I think you guys match up really well with OSU. Both should be good games.
I hope we beat them both too, because then we'd be in the Elite Eight! Plus us UK fans would get to lord it over all the OSU fans around here.
 5.
Those pesky Princeton Tigers. You never know what will go down when two cats start to fight it out. But you advance and move on.
Yeah, we won against a confident and well-coached opponent (remember: Princeton doesn't have athletic scholarships!), but I think we would have made the game a lot less close than it was if Knight, Lamb and Jones had played like they are capable of. I don't think you see Brandon Knight scoreless until the last shot of the game again. The freshman were almost invisible the whole game. Thank goodness for the play of Miller and Harrelson!
 6. Well, things sure seem to be looking up these days!
 7.
Damn road woes. Is it encouraging to be so close on the road and lose or will it prove out to be fools gold in the NCAA tourney?
Good question. I'm concerned about this team for sure. Even UC has a better record than UK at this point. And we don't have the "they play in a crappier conference" excuse anymore!
 8.
uconn
Two young teams trying to figure out how good they really are and how they will play against other good teams. It'll all work out in the end, Congrats to UCONN.
 9. I don't give a whipperwhill's beak. I want to be GOOD every year.
 10.
That is a steelers fan move.

UK fans act just like Steelers fans... ...being steelers fans.

You are bragging about 7 titles that = steelers fan.
You shut your filthy, lying, whore mouth boy!
 11.
I was referring to scharm saying that he thought I feared UK as a Duke fan. Anyways, if UK gets Pat back, that change my perception on this team. A senior, who not only can dominate the post, but has experience in the tournament and it's not just 5 freshman starting.
Weird. I could have sworn last night when I wrote that last post I saw myself being quoted and not Scharm, hence my confusion.
 12.
LOL. Fear? You think my favorite team fears UK? Now that would be hilarious. We won the national championship. We waited for you in the final four, but you never showed up. If your not happy with S16's and Elite 8's how can you possibly be happy with this past year? And the upcoming one won't be anything special either. And like I said, John Wall was never going to UNC because Brian Clifton hates Roy Williams. Duke had no chance against Cal in recruiting John. John had no interest in UK anyways. He just wanted to play for Cal. I didn't want to get into a big pissing match about this. I just wanted to say yeah UK got a great player in Brandon Knight. But he is still recruiting a bunch of one and done's so how is that going to ever propel this team to a championship? How does watching Duke and UNC win it every year make UK feel? Probably not very good. I'm just saying, if Cal strays away and gets some top 50 guys to go with his top 5 guys, he would have a great formula. Why doesn't he? That's all. Basically just trying to say that no one besides the SEC fears UK.
WTF are you getting on about? I never once used the word "fear" in this post. Duke is a great program, no doubt. They are completely on par with UK. What does Duke have to fear from UK (other than losing recruits???)???
 13.
I guess I'll just leave it like this. With a little senior leadership, UK probably wins a national title. Honestly. Not any fault of Cal. But UK probably had the most talented roster in the nation. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins were All-Americans. Patrick Patterson was a great player. Eric Bledsoe was a surprise. Daniel Orton wasn't too shabby either. If they all come back next year..guess who would win it all. Probably UK. With a little bit of guys who have been in pressure situations..who knows what could have happened against WVU? If he doesn't start getting some in his system like he had a few at Memphis, how will he ever have that leadership, especially when he is gunning for the NBA before long. Who would want to go to UK and have the uncertainty of being over-recruited anyways. I know if I'm good enough to go to a prestigious program like that is turning out one and dones, chances are, Cal is going to get some of the cream of the crop players who are going to come in and start immediately and diminish my playing time. All's I'm saying is that he needs to get some Kyle Singlers, Tyler Hansbouroughs, Sherron Collins'. Guys that will stick around for a few years and throw a Brandon Knight or a John Wall in with that group to top it all off. Right now, he is putting all his eggs into one basket. Which guy out of this recruiting class he is bringing in, is going to stay for three years? None. Cal's a great recruiter. It has to be awesome to bring in top notch guys every season like that, but I don't think he will ever top a recruiting class like he just got, which leads to more disappointment. If he doesn't bring a NC soon, UK fans all over will be calling for his head, and he will be coaching the Knicks shortly after.
UK would have won it this year had they not unexpectedly gone 0-20 from three range in the first half of a bizarre game against WVU. Do you realize that WVU was a pretty bad 3-shooting team this past season? And that they shot like the National Championship was on the line against UK? How did that translate into their next game? Predictably, it DID NOT...because they blew their wad on UK. THAT was their National Championship. They got blown out in their next game, just like they would have in 9 of 10 games against that UK squad had even a fraction of those outside shots fallen. You can't make the same argument the other way for WVU. They missed ALL of their inside shots in that 1st half against UK because they were athletically overwhelmed in the paint. UK had OPEN looks from 3...they...just..wouldn't...fall. It wasn't some master defensive plan by Huggins or anything WVU did. All WVU did was make an INSANE amount of outside shots, WELL beyond their season average, WELL beyond any reasonable expectation... ....and that's what makes the tournament great. UK is going to reload every year, and they will in fact have role players that are good and stay for the duration. There's never been a school in the history of NCAA basketball that has nothing but "one and dones" and remained viable.
 14.
Actually, that team had Joey Dorsey, a senior, Chris Douglas-Roberts, a junior, Robert Dozier, a junior and Antonio Anderson, a Junior to pair with a freshman Derrick Rose. If he doesn't start getting some guys who will stay in school, he isn't going to be able to win a NC. He just simply isn't a good enough coach. That is all I'm arguing. Oh I'm sorry for posting in this thread, where most of the college basketball discussion is. Will you ever find it in your heart to forgive me?? Someones a little salty. And as for Duke not putting it in the basket..they put it in the basket 10 more times than WVU and 1 more time than Butler...to be crowned National Champions. They obviously didn't need John Wall, who they didn't start recruiting until close to the spring signing period. Duke, or I again don't care that Brandon Knight are going to UK. Because we are the defending national champions and are at this point favorites again to win it next year because we have a good core of returning players. Something UK won't be seeing, unless Cal changes his approach. Doesn't UK judge success by championships? How is Cal furthering his team towards that..in any way? I have no hate for UK. I loved watching them this past year. Fun group to watch. But how can you ever be happy with sweet 16's and Elite 8's? I know it's an improvement over last year..next year won't be quite as good. Still about getting one and dones with nothing to show for it?
How is losing to WVU in an extremely weird game in the Elite Eight qualify as "one and done"? 9 times out of 10, UK beats WVU in that game. It wasn't their day. And how are they not going to be able to replicate that next year? At the beginning of the year, there weren't many expectations for UK to go as far as they did based on how raw the team was from a youth standpoint. If given the same situation next season, why can't they exceed expectations again? And Cal is one of the best coaches in the NCAA's.
 15. Thing is JC, Cal will do what you are saying. He got to the NC game in Memphis without a shitload of one and done's. Just because its UK doesn't mean Cal will get to snap up all the talent out there. The fact that UK had 5 players declare for the draft after this season is a little unusual, don't you think? Especially since they are ALL projected to go top 25 in the first round? How often does that happen? I'm not too worried about it because I know that Cal isn't going to settle for Sweet Sixteens. UK's roster is getting a lot of turnover right now not only from NBA-bound players but from graduating seniors that were still on the roster when Cal took over. It will stabilize.
 16.
Is anyone really that scared of a team with 5 freshman every year..that have no interest of playing with each other, rather wanting to showcase their skills for the NBA?
One, that's an overstatement. UK's squad will always have vets and key role players. Two...well, UK was one bad game away from the Final Four. They played very well all year and only lost 2 regular season games. They were a #1 seed for a reason. Also, I didn't sense any lack of team chemistry from UK last year. Just because a player knows he's going to leave after a year or two doesn't mean he can't be a good teammate while he's there.
 17.
Gonna be a pretty good day for UK BBall fans come 4 o'clock.
Yup, replaced one stellar PG in Wall with another in Brandon Knight, the #1 overall high school player in the country, and also have Enes Kanter, a Turkish 6-10 big man to replace Cousins. Sweet!
 18.
Name me the last program that had four freshman starters that won a NC. You probably have to go all the way back to the fab five. The way Cal rotates his players in and out isn't going to work and hasn't for years. At least Tubby won a NC. Cal will be lucky to get to the sweet 16 next year if all five starters leave.
WTF? Tubby won that NC because he inherited Pitino's leftovers moreso than his coaching genius.
 19.
why would u LOL @ the nets comment? Cal has stated he'd like to coach in the NBA again. Nets fan base wants him, Nets new owner has stated he is interested, Cal is all about the money and Nets owner will throw ridiculous money for a HC he wants, plus Cal can go to the Nets and get John Wall with the first pick and they have a chance to lure Lebron or one of the other big time FAs.
I just can't envision Cal bolting for the NBA after one year at UK.
 20.
Yeah..all of that Elite 8 baby! UK should have been in Dukes spot this year. Now next year..not a chance in hell they get there. I would say that's pretty disappointing. If you like up seasons followed by down depending on recruiting..more power to you man. If you see what Duke did with 3 seniors and 2 juniors in there line up while rotating 2 freshman and 1 sophmore in for those guys, it shows a pretty good emphasis on upperclassmen coming back to win games. Even UNC the year before had 3 great seniors and 2 juniors in their starting line-up. Bottom line..Cal might want to start finding some guys who like to go to class. Because John Walls and Demarcus Cousins aren't going to be coming around at the same time too often. That's if he isn't coaching the Nets next season.
LOL @ the "coaching the Nets" comment. Cal is a great recruiter, he'll have the best talent every year, so to a degree, that formula is sustainable.
 21. I don't see Orton leaving, and Bledsoe is FAR from NBA ready.
 22.
Word around is that Cal is telling recruits that he will lose up to 8 scholly players this year. I've seen up to nine. With UK likely to land B.Knight and probably CJ Leslie, it still means it will probably be a rough year. Will that change Johns ways of recruiting?
Where'd you hear that? EIGHT scholarships? Why? I don't believe that. They don't have that many seniors/NBA-bound players. Maybe a few guys will transfer to smaller schools if they aren't good enough to play significant minutes at UK. Regardless, Calipari can recruit and gaps will be filled, and we'll have enough returning talent to compete.
 23.
Bung - this isn't pointed at you directly... but UK lost by the exact thing I said they would because it cost them their two games during the season... outside shooting. They're just not very good - if you look at the body of work over a season. Most teams they were so over-matched that they could still win while shooting poorly from the outside. I didn't think they'd play 6 straight games and shoot well enough to win it all... the first weekend they shot very well and won handily both times. Saturday - they shot more par for their average this season, particularly behind the the arc. The better teams will make you pay and WV did.
And earlier in the thread, I agreed with you that it was their achilles heel, but...C'MON! No matter how bad you are, you don't miss 20 3's in a row. That's just unreal. So very unlikely to ever be replicated again by a team with UK's talent level. And as for UK "settling for jumpers", I'd hardly say they did that either, seeing as how all their 26 first-half points were in the paint. They tried 20 3's on top of that, and if they'd made just a few of those, they would have taken the lead into the half instead of being down only 2 points. They would have won the game, too. Also, WVU shot WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY above their normal 3 point percentage, particularly in the first half. It was just one of those weird games. However, I still insist that UK beat themselves moreso than anything WVU did outside of shooting unbelievable threes by shooting SO BADLY from 3 and the free throw line.
