1.
Get over it already........ 9 seeds.
I'll happily accept a 9 seed, but we don't deserve one and probably won't get one either. I am getting a feeling that Duke and UK will be about evenly seeded and have to play each other in the first round. That would be the greatest first round game ever, two programs that are historically great, both having "off" years, having to "duke" it out in the first round....it would be a barnburner, and a game that I think UK could very well win, since Christian Laettner doesn't play anymore!
 2. The call was only controversial because it is so rare. Lane violations almost always occur when a player steps into the lane prior to the free throw being released, not the other way around. And in fact, it was Tubby's fault, he's admitted as much, he called Sheray off the line just before the ref passed the ball to Meeks for his second free throw. It was a very Bengal-esque way to lose a game that for all practical purposes was in the bag, which is what made it so disheartening. I certainly don't have a good feeling about our chances in the tournament as we'll likely get a 10-13 seed and have to play somebody good in the first round. But I guess you never know. If we could just play a whole game instead of always having a tale of two halves we might go deep in the tourney, but I doubt it now.
 3.
I missed this game. What do you mean by lame call? Lame call from the sidelines or from the refs?
There was a really strange lane violation in the last few seconds of regulation where Meeks was at the line to ice the game but his free throw was taken away and the ball was awarded to Miss St with 5 seconds left, and of course, their guy raced up the court unmolested and put up a prayer three that went in to tie the game and send it into overtime. Then we lost.
 4. Jesus Christ. What a lame call to end our SEC tournament. I almost hope we don't get an NCAA bid, as I hardly see how we deserve it, except for the fact that we have "Kentucky" on our jerseys. Fuckin' A. How do we lose to Mississippi State? More evidence that UC should have kept Andy Kennedy as their coach. FUCK!!!! We'll be a 12 seed, and get bounced in the second round. We can't shoot when it matters.
 5. Yeah, Duke players are models of on-court behavior, aren't they? Just ask Tyler Hansbrough!
 6.
Did you know, that it took up until 1970 for Kentucky to have a black basketball player? Adolph Rupp refused to intergrate his teams, which made his defeat by the hands of Western Texas (UTEP), an all black team, in the 1966 National Championship game, all the sweeter.
I did know that, hence my tounge-in-cheek statement about Rupp. Those are bygone times, my friend, I'm not looking back.
 7.
Racist.
Just holding up the Adolph Rupp Nazi tradition.
 8.
Ravi Moss could shoot the three. Gerald Fitch could too.
Moss was a poor man's Mills/Sheppard (although a great story as a walk-on) and Fitch? Are you kidding me? He was OK, but nowhere near lights-out. I guess my point was that we either cannot recruit a lights-out three scorer, or that we have always had them but Tubby's scheme doesn't get them open enough or they are misused in a defensive effort. Any way you slice it, Tubby has to bear the brunt of the burden for that. Were three-pointers and free throws EVER a problem under Rick Pitino?
 9.
florida partly won this game courtesy of the refs. A lot of bad calls that went against ky. i mean ky could have played better but still bad bad calls
It wasn't the refs. UK played like absolute ass in the face of increased defensive pressure from Florida in the second half. I've said it before, I'll say it again....since Tubby's had entirely his own players that he recruited (from 2000 on), by and large, they cannot shoot the ball well. Or make free throws. FREE THROWS! I challenge any UK fan to count the players with me that were Tubby recruits that could shoot the three well. Tayshaun. Azuibuike. Sparks. Maybe Meeks. Who am I missing? Where is our Scott Padgett? Why is Orbzut even on our team? What happened to the likes of Nazr Mohammed, Michael Bradley? Where are clutch role players like Cameron Mills and Jeff Sheppard? The best Tubby has ever done is a couple Elite Eight apperances and that's it. he doesn't get credit for 1998 in my mind because that roster was still loaded with NBA-bound talent leftover from 1996-97. If UK exits the tournament early (which I think is very likely) this year, I think Tubby is in serious jeapordy. I like Tubby personally, I think he is a great defensive coach, but under him....we just don't score, especially in our stand-around, pass-around-the-perimeter half court offense. I am pissed, can you tell?
 10.
lets look forward and dream a bit Thad Matta wins it all this year at OSU and is king on High St. His Job is done, nowhere to go but down. One last challenge, rebuild the Big Blue
Or, we beat Florida and go on an unprecedented run deep into the tournament as our talent realizes itself...it could happen...

 12.
Funny that just last year you dogged me up for questioneing Tubby Myself I am giving him the benefit of the doubt until the post season, he must get them to the final four or he needs to go! Its time to shit or get off the pot!
Yeah but back then at least we had a modicum of offensive production with guys like Prince, Hayes, Azuibuike, Estill and others. This year's squad can't score for shit, and the mantra of "defense" has lost some if it's luster. We aren't being very good at either. I only dogged you for calling for his head because at the time, we were enjoying relative success, now I don't know what to think. We're backed into a corner of scholarship lousiness by guys like Perry and Thomas. Why are they good enough to start for a UK basketball team again?
 13. Sigh. Three losses in a row! There's not much to take that's positive out of this.....for years now under Tubby, we have an anemic shooting offense that only seems to come to life when it's too late in big games. I'm tired of it, personally. Games like this one burn me up! We HAD to have it and we played like SHIT! Whelp, it was nice being in the top 25 while it lasted! Fucking Wildcats. If they can't get it together and make a late season run going in to March, I'll stop watching their pathetic excuse for team offense and their inexcusable lapses on defense and stupid fouls and turnovers. It's too painful. This is NOT what UK basketball is supposed to be. Fix it or begone, Tubby!
 14.
Theres no excuse for this team to not make a run in the tourney, they have a stud big man and have some talented freshmen that should be matured by the end of the year. Every year Tubby has had an excuse and he's out of them now. Its time for Tubby to shit or get off the pot! Just like Bung pointed out, this team still has the same problems it had 5 years ago, they can't shoot FTs and have no clutch shooting whatsover. That better change come tournament time
Yeah, this constant preaching and media acknowledgement of our stellar defense isn't putting the ball into the basket any better. That IS the same-old, same-old from Tubby's years. We simply aren't an offensive team under him, and it's killing us right now.
 15.
you can thank the money Rupp put into the players pockets for that...........................johnny come lately would have been a good comment if it hadnt been about 2 decades...
I'm not sure what paid player allegations you're alluding to, but....if Rupp was doing it it meant that EVERYONE was doing it. And they still do, all of them.
 16. Keep Duke out of this thread! Fuck them and their team (although I respect their coach as a West Point grad). This thread is about the winningnest program in the history of the game, not some johnny-come-lately.
 17.
Comparing yourself to duke this year...isn't really saying much. Now if you want to compare yourself to Duke next year...go ahead...you will be dissapointed.
get your Duke-loving head out of Kryzvshefski's ass cavity and outta this UK thread, you fake-blue wearing, 4 losses in a row motherfucker!
 18. I tell you what, that was an extremely disappointing loss. I don't care "how well they hung in there" against the #1 team....that was a winnable, winnable game that we didn't get because UK is so shaky from the three and at the foul line. Why has there always been free throw and trey issues under Tubby Smith (1998 season aside, those weren't his players)? Is it that they spend so much time on defense that they don't practice shooting enough? What is it? I can't think of anyone outside of Tayshaun Prince and maybe Azibuike that could shoot the three reliably well almost all the time since Tubby's been around. And as for free throws....I just don't get it. This has been an ongoing issue for years now, and I've had it. We should have won that damn game. Fuck!
 19.
We need Patterson badly. Our front court is going to be hurting next year. Especially if Morris goes pro. If Jai doesn't sign that isn't a big deal. There is always Pettigrew. But Patterson is a must have.
I don't know who this kid is because I simply don't pay attention to high school sports, but he sounds good, and yes, we need froncourt help as we're backcourt-loaded and we may lose Morris (although I think he is FAR from ready to play in the NBA, especially in light of the fact that he'll probably have to play PF at the next level, and his shot just isn't there for that position in the NBA). Oh, and all that being said..... It's almost game time, let's GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!
 20. Well, that certainly was an improvement over the last two games. Let's hope we can be ready for Florida, as we play them soon. That's the measuring stick that all other SEC teams will be measured by, UK included.
 21.
That Georgia game was absolutely brutal....what happened to their defense in the second half, and how did Georgia take Joe Crawford out of the second half until about 4 minutes remaining.... Did Randolf Morris play?! Is Bobby Perry going to show up this year? Lastly, I'm so tired of Ramel Bradly being about as consistent as Neil Rackers!
Agreed, and goddamit! Where's our vaunted Tubby Smith defense?
 22.
What happened yesterday? Anyone catch the game? Loss to Vandy? WTF?
I listened to the second half on the radio as I was at work. Vandy was on fire from three-point range (their team lives and dies by the three, they have no inside game), and UK was just sloppy, sloppy. We had a couple of sequences on offense when we were either up or down by a point or two in the last 4-8 minutes where we would keep throwing the ball away out of bounds. UK did not guard the three well, and we couldn't score from anywhere. Bad loss at home. Well, it was fun being #25 for a week anyway! We need to take out our frustrations on Georgia on Wednesday. I will be watching. We haven't lost a game yet this year when Bung has been watching on the tube.
 23.
dude, mick will turn this team around. i don't expect him to do miracles in one season, but he's on that marvin lewis deal. give him 3 yrs. and i think he'll take us to where we need to go.
I was just messing with ya. You and Onyx started it......
 24.
i agree
You would....because UC sucks. Didn't they lose to the mighty squad from South Florida today? "Oh, if only Huggins were here to drink us into another first round one-and-done....ahhhh, the good old days...."
 25.
Boo! Kentucky fans are gay.
If seven national titles and countless March Madness tournament appearences are gay, then I don't want to be straight.....
