  1. They sold off his position to a far better player, so suck it up and play another spot. Or quietly request a trade. He and his agent should know at this point no team would pay him more than $12M per year, the guy needs to prove he is dependable and durable. He is far closer to a backup LT than a starting one at this point.
  2. Well, Orlando essentially took less money to play LT, Williams may do the same. I think though, the salary is guaranteed but not like a bonus up front so any team that trades for him would assume the guaranteed salary. Or via some agreement we pay a portion or perhaps mixed in with some conditional picks. Or maybe he should just STFU, play RT and actually play better.
  3. I would think anyone who trades for him assumes his guarantee and then that team would probably want to also re-do his contract. And perhaps re-do the contract prior to the trade via agreement that is).
  4. This signing to me is quite interesting on many levels: 1. It shows the current players and fans (and prospective free agents) that this team wants to compete every year JB is at QB. 2. The nature of the contract creates more separation from the 'old' ways 3. It indicates the team realizes OL is still far more critical to the success than say TE and S (and I agree with that). 4. The contract is probably what Jonah WOULD have received, or something close to it, if he had developed into a more solid and dependable LT, so if your own pick does not develop, go find another one that did and sign that guy. 5. This signing creates a lot of options on the OL including keeping both Jonah and Collins - last two years have shown you cannot have enough lineman. This would be for one year only until the JB contract kicks in. 6. This opens up the draft completely- we don't have to force a pick at S or TE IMO, and we can still pick an OL high. And we could even pick a RB 9not my direction but we could do this) at pick 1. RB, TE, S are now just 'pieces' you have to fill in, not critical pieces. Even if the draft does not have any elite safeties , for example, that does not mean we don't have a solid prospect we can pick up in rounds 2 or later. 7. We actually have some cap options now - depending on other free agents or the Tee/JB contracts we still have space we can create if need be - Collins, Mixon, etc. I had a few other items in my head last night but cant remember them..
  5. I don't disagree but as we see from signing Brown, the RB spot may simply not be a priority at this time. So they can sign another back up, see what happens in the draft, etc. There may not be a reason today to cut Mixon.
  6. This signing is the same magnitude that the DJ Reader signing had. Straight up killed it.
  7. We may be overthinking this. The team may very well just keep Mixon for this coming year
  8. But the team was quite adamant that Williams was NOT a RT. So intrigue I suppose. They could try to move him there and compete with Collins, best man wins
  9. This is the other issue with drafting a RB high in the draft. As good as Robinson is or could be, the life of a RB is short and most teams not only devalue the position but dont want to commit large dollars for the second contract (because they devalue the position). So if you draft a RB high, you basically have to assume you get 5 years out of them and then they leave.
  10. CEH is on a cheap first contract so no way KC trades him
  11. On Siruis NFL this morning they noted that the RB FA market is very quite, teams are looking to fill more 'critical' positions. Speaks to how teams perceive the RB position these days.
  12. I think so as well, probably gone in the early 20's at the latest
  13. No idea really, but if the team does not value the position as it does others then they may pass or trade down. One could argue why was he not picked at the spots before ours?
  14. And Mixon is good at blitz pickups? I think the team could have utilized his strengths on sweeps or screens especially when the OL was struggling.
  15. I think it is easy to rationalize poor play as several “one-offs” but the counter counter point would be - we never had to do that with Whit. With good players you don’t need to rationalize.
  16. I’m not sure the cap analysis is quite true. When the cap is going up, teams can front run it perhaps ahead of “general” rises for all players. The increases to players overall is not instant but if a team knows the cap is going up it can make future commitments knowing they will have the room. This team still can also invoke more aggressive contract re-do’s to kick the can down the road. If the cap is at the expected $280M in 3 years there is lots of room for the 3 amigos.
  17. And the Saints...they had to cut Trey Hendrikson and many others. Like the Rams they went all in and the cap 'hell' was exasperated by the drop in the cap due to Covid. The Saints went from a very good team to meh. But a team can suck for a year or two , draft well and then reload. In the end, all the teams spend the same amounts over a period of time, or near the same, it is a question of when they pay it, when they allocate it and the value you get for it.
  18. If you trade him it is just like cutting him (except for the compensation); the bonus money unallcoated hits the cap like the dead cap money would.
  19. I would imagine the entire offense is what JB likes. So if we dont see a lot of rollouts, it may very well be as much about JB as it is OL restrictions.
