  1. Hate the Stealers as much as anyone but I have to say these were 2 good moves. Wilson is probably done but they are paying him nothing and as much as he is a locker room shithead, the Stoolers seem to actually like that. Fields is better than Pickett and I will give the Stoolers credit for realizing what most knew, Pickett was never going to develop. So they cut thier losses. neither of these guys or Burrow or Lamar obviously but they will keep the Stoolers in the mix.
  2. Zero for the idiot Watson? wow, did not know that. I suppose one could argue each contract is essentially secured by the NFL so no need for escrow. Appreciate your insight on this.
  3. Need to also add college carries, those vary greatly by player as well.
  4. Technically, the clown who tried to block him ruined your day... Darnold was a beast
  5. Justin Rogers (Auburn) 6-3 346 lbs Evan Anderson (FAU) - 6-3 356 lbs
  6. They are not cash poor. The league allows each team to have a line of credit up to 50% of the franchise value; now some owners may be over leveraged in other ways and can't access this but the Brown family would have little to no debt. Having said that - the USE of a line of credit today, to be repaid in the future has not really been part of thier make-up. But we have now given several contracts though with large guarantees (and I believe these amounts have to be put in escrow) which no doubt has moved us into the line of credit mode. Up front money and guarantees are now 'normal' practice for contracts so we have no choice but to adjust. For Tee, he may want say $50M up front/guaranteed which means $50M out the door today compared to say $45M - $50M spread out over the next two years if they double tag him. It is a big difference.
  7. This is an interesting trade since it even involves a 2025 pick: Per multiple reports, Minnesota has acquired the No. 23 overall pick and No. 232 in the seventh round. In exchange, Houston has received No. 42 in the second round, No. 188 in the sixth round, and a second-round pick in 2025. That gives the Vikings two first-round selections in this year’s draft, as they also have their original No. 11 overall pick after finishing the season 7-10. The pick at No. 23 is originally from the Browns, who sent the selection to the Texans as part of the deal for quarterback Deshaun Watson. By making this trade in mid-March, the Vikings have some options before the draft. They could potentially package No. 11 and No. 23 to move up into the top 10 for a quarterback. Or if that’s not enough, they could package No. 11 and No. 23 with a player — perhaps receiver Justin Jefferson, who is seeking a new contract — to move up for the quarterback they want.
  8. I think Bowers will fall to the last round so we may pick him up 😎
  9. I guess then when it was initially a conditional 7th rounder it was conditional on Mixon signing an extension?
  10. Hmm..I did not know there were two different kind of franchise tags.
  11. They need to sign Becton so that Hobs has his token "this guy has rehaped his body and attitude and is ready to be the starter and surpise people" article.
  12. Which kind of sounds like Becton - has the measuarbles but his technique sucks. So 4 years later he has not self imporved on his technique which may lead one to believe he is not self motivated.
  13. I think we just have to be patient here. We knew the FA market was not good, but players can get released and opportunuties come up like Brown did last year. Plus, with that extra 3rd round pick, this gives us more ammo to move up a few spots in the draft if we are targeting one of the RT's and they start to run.
  14. After the. Weds signed Jonah they cut DJ Humphries. Of interest? Coming off an ACL injury and was an All Pro in 2021.
  15. Well, we are good at drafting PK's it seems....not so much OL or punters
  16. He stated he was not going to sign with the Vikes until the resolved who the QB would be for the coming years (given Cousins was a pending FA)
  17. With the Mixon trade versus cut, are there any different cap implications? No or less dead cap if traded?
  18. Well, I was 100% wrong about cutting Mixon and that is a good thing. I thought the Mike Brown "we should honor the contract" thing would still be present but the organization is now (finally) past that. Of interest, on Sirius NFL yesterday, Mike Lombardi said RB's in todays offenses have to do 3 things in THIS order - pass block, pass catch, run. I like this move (two moves)...
  19. The cap is projected to go up another 20+ Million so they can easily tag him again and if he stays away for 11 games the team will bank that cap space and roll it to 2025. And if he sat out 11 games again he would overall lose $20M or so. Dumb.
  20. True, but he would only be paid for the 6 games and then he would get tagged again
  21. If Townsend is worth $3M per year, our punter is worth $3 per year
  22. Essentially, the current years salary which would hit 100% in the current year is converted to bonus and spread out over the remaining years of the contract. So if a player has 3 years left on his deal and his current salary is $15M - they convert the salary to bonus and then the $15M is spread out over this year plus the other two, so $5M per year. You would then save (create) $10M of cap space this year but add $5M to each of the next two years cap. It is kicking the can down the road.
