-GoBengals- Posted December 2, 2004 Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 I will say i'm way neg.Yes i have earned that right....Not being a smart ass,i know injuries and things happen.I have come around a great deal in the last two years,sometimes i have flash back's.lol....I really do enjoy the bengal's playing ball,i dont live my life neg....I'm a vet with combat exp i know how short life is to be neg......I just want this football team to be on top again...I love this team through and through and deep in my heart i want a win every weekend.....That is the x marine in me be hard strive to be the best....If the worst don't happen your allright...Young fan's the only thing i have to say to them is learn your team's history.....Look at the good and the bad...I have lived throught the good and bad.......Just like a lot of other people.....some are homer's some are neg.......I really am trying to be positive again......I want rudi to be my man just like pete johnson was my man in the late 70,s ...but rudi need's to prove himself to me before i would fork over 4-6 mil a year.......And rudi is on a very good start.......Most time's i give credit where credit is do........I just don't swing from player's jock's....... im 23, i grew up with the bengals being total crap, i was too young to remember the good times, i only know the bullshit, the embarrasement, i guess what gets me bent out of shape is in real life (i DO get offline from time to time).. the people i have met in person who bash the team, marvin, palmer, rudi, say CJ is immature and should grow up (ironically sent the pepto thing when pepto was supporting breast cancer fund that week) (asked fans to bring a dollar to the game for fines, ironically when they ere collecting food and money for the free food bank at all gates)...all of these people, i mean every single one i have met in real life, has not been to a game in years, owns pretty much no bengals gear or memorabilia, basically supports the team in no way, but then complains that they suck, and turn around and call themselves fans, and attempt to speak thier genius on player and team matters as if they know the first thing about what is going on with the team. i think many of the homers and level headed people run into similar situations and thus get frustrated with everyyone with that mindstate, even online, where those situations may not be the case with you and others... Guest oldschooler Posted December 2, 2004 Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 uhhhhhhhhh i think old schooler is a homer... and i think alot of the older fans like the MBS crowd and the folks like yourself are far far far to negative.... take the last two years, last year, 8-8, this year, honestly, we will end up 8-8 most likely with a boat load of injuries (more than normal NFL team) and a fresh rookie-like QB and missing a big weapon in PW.... i dont care how disgruntled you are at some point you have to start enjoying bengals football again, in our season tickets there are 4-5 people that are the old asshole types, bitching about anything and everything even when we are winning, pissed off about every win, and joking and happy with every loss.... im sure its popular in the little hater cliques to be negative, but the younger fans and the newer fans just think thier ignorant assholes, true or not they are making themselves look foolish, mike brown has opened up a little with the wallet, marvin seems to be a good leader and having atleast SOME impact here, and we went from 2-14 to 8-8 and probably 8-8 or better this year, we were one win (baltimore) from having homefield advantage in the playoffs for winning the division, i have a bengals playoff ticket from last year, if thats not hope, i dont know what is, if thats ll not a reason to actually support this team, i dont know what is, ... fuckin bengals... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never considered myself a "homer" and until I got on JT`s message board had never been called 1. I grew up loving the Bengals. And even when they sucked I still watched EVERY game and wore my jerseys, hats and jackets proudly. I just knew that this team would turn it around EVENTUALLY. I`m not "happy" with 8-8 seasons. BUT I am HAPPY that this team plays hard and has been in EVERY game ! I was VERY HAPPY that they played meaningful games in December last year ! I got my ID from being an "oldschool" Bengals fan. I know I am optimistic about the Bengals. But I feel like I have reasons to be. I am 35 years old and I have been a Bengals fan since I can remember. I never turned against them. I never called them the Bengals. I got sickto my stomach watching loss after loss. And having losing season after losing season. But I felt 1 day things would change and things would be like whenI first started watching the Bengals. And it is closer to being that way now than it has been in over 15 years. I realize that this team isn`t perfect. But with all of the negativity that has surrounded this franchise for years, I don`t feel the need to be negative about them now. When I see people bash and say bad stuff they are usually basing their opinions on the PAST. Well like my Grandma told me, If you keep living in the past, then you`ll never see the bright tomorrow ahead of you. Call me a "homer" if you want. I just call myself a BENGALS FAN. A lot of people get up in arms about it, but personally I find it funny. I mean, we're the Bengals...it's not like we've covered ourselves in the glory the past decade, pre - ML, I like the fact that we can laugh at ourselves, as long as it's not some turd from Pitt, Bal or Cleveland doing it. The award is given to the Bengals player who sucks the most during a game. The award is named after that great cigarette smoking tight end we drafted 4 rounds too high and who to this day does not have a single NFL reception. Season began with Justin Smith grabbing a few, but lately Palmer has been grabbing the turds... This past week Landon Johnson took the honours. Which was fair I thought, given his 3 penalty performance and the solid job he did on Shea and Haiden (sp?) However in the long run I still think he's going to be a stud. Here were the award winners so far: Week 1: Justin Smith (he was a revolving door that day) Week 2: Kyle Larson (bad punting when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter) Week 3: Levi Jones (can't remember) Week 4: Kenny Watson (1 carry, 1 fumble) BYE week: Justin Smith (DUI, and with possibly a beat up hooker in the car...) Week 6: Deltha O'neal (1st play from scrimmage, longest pass play in Browns history) Week 7: NO AWARD (Denver game, respect) Week 8: Carson Palmer (there was some cotroversy about this. Some said the line was at fault, but you could counter that he should have been protecting the ball properly for that late fumble) Week 9: Chad Johnson (I didn't agree with this award. I thought his pouting while unwarranted, was fair, considering the shit Bratkowski was calling. Note we put the game away when we started going to CJ repeatedly.) Week 10: Carson Palmer (he got this, because Bratkowski can't win the award, no points in the second half. Overthrew an open Housh..and lets face it, how many times does the Housh get that open....) Week 11: Carson Palmer (beautiful pass to James Farrior, and a nice double pump for a safety..say what you will about the rest of the team sucking..he gave them 9 points, and took the wind out of the sails of our defence, which was playing great.) Week 12: Landon Johnson (lots of candidates here on D, but he was posterized on a TD, and also had some dumb penalties.) There's also the Tits award given to the best player in a game.
