Part of the problem with the defense this year was that we weren't getting any pressure up the middle. Mahelona can shed blocks and get through, putting pressure on the QB. Hey may not always draw double teams, but if he can consistently get through he will start to. It all depends on what the defensive scheme is to be. Do they want LB's to get through, or do they want the line to get through? Report

In '04 he (not Pollack) led the SEC in tackles for loss, and even though Tennessee had a poor season in '05 their rush defense ended up ranked in the top 5 in the country. Before the season started he was projected as a first round pick. However since his numbers were down from '04 so he will probably drop into the second round. Report

He is 6'7", 295, with great athletic ability. He was rated as one of the top prospects in the country out of high school. He was only a back up this year, but the two starting tackles (Jessee Mahelona and Justin Harrel) will be top picks in the draft (UT had the #2 rated rush defense in the nation this year). Tony really needs another year in college, but he is coming out this year because of a personal injury lawsuit filed against him. He smashed some guy's face during a basketball game and the guy is claiming $800,000 in damages. The coaches at UT have always raved about McDaniel's potential. Maybe Marvin can use a second day pick on him and shape him into a model citizen. Report

[/quote] I'm a die hard Big Orange fan, but I wouldn't use anything higher than a 6th round pick on him. I seriously doubt if he will even get drafted. In that case I would be all for signing him as a FA. He does have a lot of potential, but that assault charge was not his first off-field problem. Report

If he's there in 3, I think you have to do it...In the second, I would take a hard look at what some of the other options are...But he's got the skills to back up his aggressiveness.
