Joe Nuxhall probably will add ballpark No. 57 to his list.

Nuxhall and Reds chief operating officer John Allen are working out the details, but Nuxhall will continue to broadcast games next season, and he'll probably do the games from Washington's RFK Stadium and Boston's Fenway Park.

RFK, where the Nationals, formerly the Montreal Expos, are to play, will be the 57th stadium Nuxhall has played in or broadcast from. Nuxhall played in Fenway but hasn't done radio from there.

"We're not sure exactly how many games I'll do," Nuxhall said. "But it looks like I'll do Boston and Washington."

Said Allen: "We want to give Joe a chance to add to his total (of ballparks)."

Nuxhall also will do eight spring training games, beginning with the opener March 3 versus Tampa Bay.

Last season was supposed to be Nuxhall's last. He did roughly half the games, splitting time with Steve Stewart. Stewart was supposed to take over full-time this season. But things changed in August when Nuxhall charged he had been forced out. That created a storm of controversy.

Things were quickly smoothed over two days later when the Reds agreed Nuxhall could return to do games in 2005.

He and Allen agreed to a personal-services contract before the end of the season. That contract kicked in Jan. 1.

"He's going to do a variety of things," Allen said. "Personal appearances. He may look at a pitcher at Louisville or Dayton for us."

As far as broadcasting, Nuxhall might do only the six games in Washington and Boston.

He could do more if his longtime partner, Marty Brennaman, decides to take some games off. Allen has offered that option to Brennaman, but Brennaman hasn't decided whether he'll do so.

Nuxhall, 76, who has battled heart problems and cancer, said he feels great. And he's OK with the arrangement with the Reds.

"But it's going to be different, going down there (Great American Ball Park) and doing nothing," he said. "I thought it was tough last year. But I've been at it a long time."

eh.. having old ass crazy people on the radio, ... eeehhhh.... old crazy people arnet fun after like 25 minutes, youve got players from the 90" and 21st century playing, why have an announcer from the 1700's we get overreacting and bullshit commentary in th NFL for this reason, old people are nuts, im sure he isnt doing it for a reason, there would be no other reason for the reds to limit/ not allow his working, the man id getting up there...

GoBengals, elaborate please.
What is wrong with Nuxie calling a game or two? While he's "lost a step" in terms of mental/verbal capacity to pronounce names correctly, etc, unless he has full-blown Alzheimer's, why not let him have a role?
He's only been the voice of Reds radio along with Marty (the FREAK--please do tell...) like, FOREVER!
I say let him call a few games...it won't hurt anyone and it will let an old man who's paid his dues and earned respect as a radio sports journalist to have his one last hurrah...c'mon man, he's going to DIE soon.... :)
