My desktop is the same as my avatar--a picture of my favorite composer Gustav Mahler, the titan of the Late-Romantic epoch of classical music. The man captured the sublime. If anyone is interested in life-changing music check out any of his smphonies--all are awesome. The First is his most accessable, the Second is the most spiritual, the Third the most epic, the Fourth is the most innocent, the Fifth is the most varied (from darkness to jubilation), the Sixth the most tragic, the Seventh the most enigmatic, the Eight the most massive, the Ninth the most profound, and the unfinished Tenth the most peaceful. I love the fact that people rioted during the premiere of the Rite of Spring (the first mosh pit?) Other Russians I like are Scriabin (dude was flat out crazy), Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
