Random observations and thoughts from my March at the Pentagon:

~ I would estimate that there was between 30- 40,000 people at the Anti War Protest. I know the media said 15-30 … but I am telling you there had to be more.

I mean hell the line was thick ...

And went for 2 and half miles. So you do the math.

~ There was also a small contingent of Pro War protestors (The Eagles or something) on the one side of the street where we started I would be generous and put their numbers at around 300. This group was actually my favorite part of the protest as they were so vile in their responses to the people on my side of the street --- (Most peace protesters gave them the peace sign and said "We still love you" ... while most of them screamed "Die traitors"). Also they were almost entirely 95 % white middle aged males with 1 or 2 black guys … and a few kids and women sprinkled in. Most were in biker jackets and looked like Hells Angels.

~ For the protest I wore the Vendetta mask, a Kuffiyeh, and had the WWJB sign.

~ As the protest started at the Lincoln memorial --- the Police were in-between us and the Pro War people on Horseback. As the march began … the Pro War people were lined on the streets for maybe the first .1 of a mile. I slowly walked that mile right so that I was literally not anymore than 50 feet from them and right in their view. This was awesome because I got to hear their responses to my sign. Almost all of them yelled a response to my sign “Who Would Jesus Bomb?”

- If I was tallying it up I would say that

20-25 screamed = “You” / “Your Ass” / “Your Traitor Ass”

5 people screamed = “Jane Fonda”

4 people screamed = “all Muslims” / The Muslims

2 people screamed = “You communists”

2 people screamed = “You Hippies” / Hippies

1 person screamed = “All of you”

1 young girl yelled = “Saddam”

1 older woman yelled = “your buddy Osama”

1 guy yelled = “Yasser Arafat”

One person yelled = “You don’t know nuttin bout Jesus boy”

:contract: And my favorite comment which really blew my mind to the point where it almost exploded .... Was one older white guy screamed and I quote:

“I’m a Christian, so fuck that Jew”

:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Now remember this is in reference to “Jesus CHRIST”

Also not one single person on the Pro War side said “He wouldn’t bomb anybody”.

~ Then I marched the 2 and a half miles to the Pentagon where the Stage was and the speakers. While there I went up to the stage and got to meet: Cindy Sheehan, St Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson, Ramsey Clark, and Nick Bergs Dad (The guy that was beheaded).

~ Cindy Sheehan looked right at my sign and said “I love it” and gave me the thumbs up.

In the spirit of fairness …. I got pissed when I ran into some guy claiming to represent the Leninist party who had a bunch of red buttons on his sleeve with his website and a cool hammer and sickle on it. I told him I would wear one and then his dumbass told me that I had to buy one !!! I said ‘What kind of communist are you” and walked off. He was either a poser hypocrite … or some fed pretending.

Also during the protest a bunch of people including myself blocked the nearby highway ... and they called in the swat team. So about 100 guys in full gear and gas masks came out and lined the road right in front of us … and slowly moved towards us. At one point they almost had me encircled … but luckily there were several TV cameras that rushed nearby … so I was hoping they would spare me from a clubbing.

:2rave:

~ Also I went the Lincoln Memorial and as V ...

While there some fascist cop with a machine gun took my WWJB sign and said that I couldn’t protest on the property. I told him “That is in the spirit of Lincoln”.

* While there I was also a hit with about 50 Japanese tourists who started taking pictures of me like I was Britney Spears bald vagina.

:afropic:

~ When I walked over to the Vietnam Wall … some crazy storm trooper cop ran towards me screaming “get that mask off” --- however I couldn’t take it all the way off … because it was tied into my dreadlocks. So he pulled out a Tazer gun and screamed I said take it all the way off your head. At that point I said “I didn’t know there was a rule about masks … hell I just wore this at the Lincoln Memorial with no problem”. Then I told the guy I was leaving … because I could obviously see that this jackass was trigger happy.

~ I then went to the WWII memorial, Washington Monument, and the Whitehouse.

:headbang:

- The Whitehouse was much smaller than I had imagined … and I hung out with one guy who had camped out continuously everyday out front since 1981 … protesting Nuclear weapons. This guy was awesome --- and drunk --- and told me about how he had been arrested over 50 times.

~ That night I went out with Jamie & CincyDC …. And did Intl Beers, Irish car bomb … played pool, went to a grungy bar … and tried to find some girls for a “Brown Tie”.

I was beat however … and by that time was on life support from all the walking that day (over 12 miles).

CincyDC was then cool enough to let me crash on his couch and I left the next morning.

Jamie would do well not to quit his day job to become a world-famous photographer. That's me on the right and BJ on the left. I bothered to wear green since it was St. Patrick's Day and all.

We decided to prepare for Mully's next trip to the States by brushing up on our pool shark skillz.

Great stuff...I absolutely love the BJ as 'V' picture in front of the SWAT TEAM.

We live in a great age...when it comes to producing our own media and commentary. (In other ways...Not so much)
So how'd you like our nation's capital, BJ? Had you ever been there before?
I liked it. I had never been there before … and found the lay out to be very aesthetically pleasing. I am a fan of clean lines in architecture and I really like the white marble looking surface of many of the monuments.

My favorite monument was the WWII monument … which I think was put together and done really well. I like that it went with a very basic layout and I personally walked through and read each of the quotes on the wall. (Also I hold that monument in high regard --- because I believe it was the last war that the U.S. was justified in fighting in --- and those troops truly were fighting for the U.S. = instead of corporate profit or hegemonic domination)

I also enjoy looking at Statues … and like the many statues of the different figures throughout the city. I consider myself a history buff in many regards --- and I enjoyed seeing these figures of history.

Also since Lincoln is my favorite President --- I liked the Lincoln memorial and enjoyed the etching of the Gettysburg Address on the wall (Which is a great speech).

Even though I am very critical of the current administration --- and the many stains on our nation’s history and past --- you almost can’t help but feel somewhat patriotic when being in the capitol. Also the monuments at least give me hope that America can strive to live up to its ideals --- which I concede on paper --- are some of the noblest ideals a nation has ever put forth. In a way the capitol makes you realize just how great the U.S. could be ---- if we only put actions to the words of some of our documents and monuments.

i was there in 04 to see the bengals vs redskins. I didn't really even want to go and see all the monuments, but my wife made me go and i loved it. I would like to go back when i could spend a few more days sight seeing. Here are some of my favorite pictures from dc.

never knew the story of how they ran out of money while building the monument. That is why it is 2 different colors.

Its funny Ive lived here for almost 16 years now and Ive not done alot of the "tourist" things. Ive driven by the Lincoln, but never been in it. Or the Jefferson or the WW2 or the ewogeema (sp?). The only "tourist" spots Ive been to is the Vietnam wall, Arlington cematary (tomb of the unknown solider), and inside the white house and old executive building. And we only did those when my cousins came to vist a number of years ago.

I loved the tomb of the unknow soldier. I was out of breath for the whole ceremony because we had to run to make it in time.

ewogeema (sp?) = Iwo Jima.

The Marine Band in those Bad Ass red-unis are closer to the photographer than the memorial so what you see is what we call a "dwindling perspective"; image in front appears larger than actually is..

Now, imagine if you can if one would be standing next to it and realize how big that thing is.
