Is Gillispie a better coach than Tubby Smith as of today...right now. #2. Hypothetically speaking, if Gillispie were to win the National Championship next year, would you give him full credit for it, or hold a asterisk over his head because it was with Tubby's players?
There's no way in hell that ANY coach would win a national title with Tubby's players....they aren't all that great, and the best one is a New York Knick now. You are correct he didn't screw up the program because the program isn't screwed up. It doesn't matter if Billy G wasn't the first choice. Billy G is a top prospect. Billy D was the first choice because this is KENTUCKY! How many programs could even reasonably expect to pull a coach from a team that just won two back to back National Championships playing in a major conference with a budget like Florida's. Maybe 2 or 3 others. The fact is was even debated as a serious possibility should note the status of the Kentucky program.

He brought us back from the probation years. He could have easily sustained it. Look at the recruits he is raking in at UofL now. Tell me he couldn't do that at UK after leading a team to back to back championship games and winning one of them.
Pleeeeeeeeeze. I know he wasn't. Are you paying attention. I know the list. It was Pat, Billy D, possibly Barns and then Billy G. Billy G will do better. He may or may not have success this up coming year but that is because of this shit hole orlando left him with. He will be a better coach than orlando if he isnt already. scharm
There's a whole lot of banners and players in the NBA that say good basketball players happen to find themselves in the BLUEGRASS STATE. Factor in Louisville with it, it gets even better. Kentucky is an elite program. Louisville is little brother but certainly can hold it's own when compared other programs outside of the other elite. Maybe good basketball players like bluegrass and horse dookey? Has to be something.
