Porter hopes to put feud behind him
ESPN.com news services

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter told ESPN on Wednesday that he hopes to get past his fight with Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Levi Jones.

"I wish it never would have happened," Porter said. "I don't know how Levi feels, but the faster we can get this behind us, [the better]."

Jones told the Cincinnati Enquirer last week that during an altercation in a Las Vegas casino March 18, he was jumped by six other men from behind before Porter hit him. Porter was cited by police for misdemeanor battery and released. Police said the players, rivals on the field, exchanged trash talk at a casino blackjack table before the fracas.

"[Porter] got my attention from the front and wouldn't get near me until the six guys jumped me from behind, [then] he took part," Jones told the Enquirer. "What started everything was the dude hit me from behind. From then on, I had to protect myself. I was attacked by seven guys. I don't know what man is going to withstand that, especially with an NFL player involved.

"It was like that, it was problematic for me and my family, especially when the true story wasn't out there," Jones told the newspaper. "The particulars about how everything went down, I mean, ESPN, all they wanted to report was Joey Porter hit me in the face."

Porter told ESPN he was in Las Vegas to celebrate his mother's 50th birthday and would like to apologize to Jones.

"I don't mind calling him. If he truly believes, if he feels like I was wrong, I'm sorry," Porter said. "I can apologize. I am reaching out now."

The Bengals play at Miami in the teams' regular-season finale Dec. 30. Jones has previously said he isn't concerned with facing Porter on the field, but he didn't say if he would file a civil suit.

"We'll see how it plays out," he said.

"At the end of the day, none of us is going to get anything good out of this," he told the Enquirer.
uuhhmm NO. Porter said this on ESPN. Levi said no such thing to the Enquier. The Enquirer was reporting what it saw on your fucking station.

Go look at the post from the Enquirer and on top of that I watched and listened to the interview.

What the hell is with ESPN riding porter's cock all the time. edit: I guess I should explain further. It seems to me that ESPN through their use of quotes and paragraphs is implying that Levi believes the same as Joey thus taking equal blame for the incident.

One of these days a reporter will ask Joey who the other guys were that were involved. I wonder how he'll respond to that?
Porter's court date set

By Harvey Fialkov
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Posted April 11 2007

On the same day NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced a stiffer conduct policy for the league, the Dolphins' most significant offseason addition -- linebacker Joey Porter -- was given a May 14 court date to answer to a misdemeanor battery charge for his role in a Las Vegas casino brawl last month.

Porter signed a five-year, $32 million contract on March 7 and was arrested 11 days later for allegedly striking Bengals tackle Levi Jones in the face at the Palms Hotel.

Jones said on the Bengals' Web site that Porter's attack was "a cowardly assault by a coward."

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron recently said he was "satisfied" with Porter's side of the story and the franchise was "letting the process work itself out."

Even if Porter isn't found guilty of the misdemeanor, he could be suspended under Goodell's revised conduct policy, which states that "repeat violations of the personal conduct policy will be dealt with aggressively, including discipline for repeat offenders even when the conduct itself has not yet resulted in a conviction of a crime."

Porter has a history of controversial behavior on and off the field.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello that there was no news on Porter.

Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga, who said at the owners' meeting two weeks ago that "we want the Dolphins to be the textbook for character," and team management fully supported Goodell's crackdown on players who besmirch the image of a team or the league.

"This is an important step by the league and Commissioner Goodell, and we join our players in supporting this very necessary initiative," Dolphins President Bryan J. Wiedmeier said in a statement.

Porter's agent didn't return phone messages or e-mails, but another NFL agent was in favor of stiffer penalties for lawbreaking players.

"It's good to see the Commissioner step up before this league completely self-destructs," the agent said.

Dolphins Player's Association representative Jay Feely said players, owners and coaches were in accord with Goodell's stance to put some teeth into the longstanding conduct code.

"It's justified and sends a message that we will no longer accept the behavior of those few guys who continually cast NFL players in a negative limelight," Feely said.

"It's a blessing to be a player or coach and comes with an inherent responsibility to protect the integrity of the game."

Last year the Dolphins signed college free-agent receiver/kick returner Marcus Vick despite a litany of arrests during his Virginia Tech days. However, the younger brother of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has stayed out of trouble since becoming a pro.

Recently re-signed defensive tackle Keith Traylor is serving a one-year probation sentence for two misdemeanor charges stemming from a May 16, 2006 arrest in Oklahoma. One charge was for driving under the influence and a later charge was added when Traylor ripped a smoke detector off a jail wall.
An altercation last month between Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and Cincinnati tackle Levi Brown remains under investigation, a Las Vegas Police Department spokesman said Friday. Porter was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching Jones in the face at a Las Vegas casino.

According to a police report, Jones' claim that he was assaulted from behind by a slew of Porter's acquaintances during the fight is supported by surveillance footage. That video will not be released as long as the investigation is ongoing, the police spokesman said.
Bengals left tackle Levi Jones has no comment and has yet to read or see the remarks in which Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter apologized for what Jones called a “cowardly assault,” last month at a Las Vegas casino.

And Kenny Zuckerman, Jones’ agent, said his client has yet to decide if he’ll pursue a civil suit.

"I don't mind calling him. If he truly believes, if he feels like I was wrong, I'm sorry," Porter said Wednesday according to ESPN.com. "I can apologize. I am reaching out now.

"I wish it never would have happened," Porter said. "I don't know how Levi feels, but the faster we can get this behind us, [the better]."

Jones made it clear how he felt last month when he told Bengals.com in a March 28 story how the incident in which Porter was charged with misdemeanor unfolded.

“A cowardly assault by a coward,” Jones said during a break in his workout at Arizona State. “One versus seven, six from behind. The police report came out and told the truth. Joey Porter did not kick Levi Jones ’s ass.

“Basically what he did was walk up to me, get my attention talking trash while his boys jumped me from behind. They plotted the thing. He was shooting craps. I was playing blackjack. He saw me, there was no exchange before he just came up on me.”

Jones also had an estimated $40,000 worth of jewelry stolen , but two chains were anonymously returned to the casino.

A casino video cited in a police report said Jones was attacked by several unidentified males, as well as punched in the face by Porter.

On Wednesday, Porter didn’t refute Jones’ take.

“This only validates what Levi has been saying,” Zuckerman said. “I think what he wants to do know is take a deep breath, sit back and think about how he wants to proceed.”
Something tells me that Joey Porter may be in more trouble than he cares to admit, and his pussy ass goody two shoes acting is proof that he's scared shitless.

Let's put it this way, the Commish has said a number of things about his new conduct policy... one of them that I think will bear on this case...

Gang associations and their behavior.

Fact is, Porter & his thugmates pulled off a classic gang move... one guy talk shit while the others jump him, beat him, and steal his shit.
I hope the Commish breaks it off in Porters ass big time, he's gotten away with almost everything else he's ever done with just a slap on the wrist fine and no suspensions.

I also hope Levi sues the hell outta him, best way to beat a man down is in his financial security. He needs to sue his ass for big bucks, and buy some bling with a big pendant that says "Paid for by my bitch, Joey Porter".
Porter sort of says sorry to Bengals tackle Jones
BY MARK CURNUTTE | MCURNUTTE@ENQUIRER.COM

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter said in an ESPN interview Wednesday that he hopes to put his fight with Bengals left tackle Levi Jones behind him.

"I wish it never would have happened," Porter said on television. "I don't know how Levi feels, but the faster we can get this behind us, (the better)."

Porter said he was in Las Vegas to celebrate his mother's 50th birthday. Jones said he was jumped March 18 at the Palms casino by Porter and several associates.

On Wednesday, Porter said he would like to apologize to Jones.

"I don't mind calling him. If he truly believes, if he feels like I was wrong, I'm sorry," Porter said. "I can apologize. I am reaching out now."

The Bengals will end the 2007 regular season at Miami on Dec. 30. Jones has said he is not concerned with facing Porter on the field because he will be focused on Miami defensive end Jason Taylor.

Jones did not return messages placed on his cell and home phones.

"He (Porter) got my attention from the front, and wouldn't get near me until the six guys jumped me from behind, he took part," Jones said April 2, the first day of the Bengals offseason strength and conditioning program. "What started everything was the dude hit me from behind. From then on, I had to protect myself. I was attacked by seven guys. I don't know what man is going to withstand that, especially with an NFL player involved."

Porter was charged with misdemeanor battery and released. He reported to the Dolphins' offseason program the next day.

Jones said he needed no stitches to close a cut above his left eye. He did not say if he would file a civil suit.

"We'll see how it plays out," he said.

Porter said, "At the end of the day, none of us is going to get anything good out of this."

Police in Las Vegas have yet to release the security tape of the incident because the investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday, April 10, Jones said there was nothing new from his end to discuss about the case.
