I've heard an interesting theory on why it seems time flies as you grow older: it's because as you grow older, you experience time as relative to your total age. So, for instance, when you are 5, a year is 1/5 of your life, thus it seems to be drag along; however, when you are 50, a year is merely 1/50 of your life, and so it's not a huge fraction, and thus flies by.

Awesome. I've noticed the acceleration too, although I attribute some of the nostalgia for the "golden bygone era" to be misplaced....
I remember Summers as a young boy, riding bikes and believing it would never end...and it felt that way, too.......
Now, time does indeed fly as I accelerate my way into the Carousel.....

Yeah, I'll be 40 in 9 months. When I was in my 20's I really didn't want to get into my 30's. I just had this image of 30 as being all grown up and adult. I found out quickly when I turned 30 that I was the exact same person that I was when I was 29. Since then I really don't give a shit. I mean, yeah, it sucks that I'm going to be 40 but only because that much of my life is gone. I wish I had more time. I gave up worrying about age being a factor for anything else though. I am who I am and that is not going to change no matter how old I get.

As for the years flying by I think it has a lot to do with the daily grind of working and living. You're not looking forward to summer vacation anymore so there's really nothing to gauge your time with. One day just rolls into the next.

but I'm a high school teacher so I still have summer vacation to look forward to..........and it can't get here any sooner.

I'm not sure what this says about me. Am I adaptable to new technology, and still able to view, and appreciate life through all perspectectives? A "pretty cool old guy"?

Or am I an immature, old hippie sports fan who just likes to sit on his ass as much as possible "might as well turn on the computer"?
