March 2, 200521 yr comment_54441 OK, I'll bite: NCAA HOOPS-Kentucky, the oldest, winningest program in all of college basketball, ever. One of course could argue for UCLA here with all their national titles, but hey--I'm biased! NFL FOOTBALL-This is actually hard! You could make a case for any of the older franchises here, but I'll go with the Packers because of Lombardi (he even has a trophy named after him!) NBA-Lakers, but I hate them...OK, you could say Celtics here too...and don't say Bulls, they had nothing before nor after MJ's era... MLB--Reds, without question...oldest team and Big red Machine...and fuck the Yank-offs... COLLEGE FOOTBALL--Notre Dame or Army...or both... NHL--any team Gretzky played on...if I cared... Report

To me, it comes down to the Yankees and Canadiens, and I'll give the edge to the Yanks. Not far behind are the Celtics and Packers. After all, when I think of the term "storied", I think of a deep, rich tradition. These four franchises have many championships and a history people remenisce about that goes back numerous decades. On the other hand - and maybe some basketball fan can correct me because I'm admitedly sketchy on it's history - but the Lakers seemed to be relatively insignificant before about 1979. You simply can't say that about the Yanks, Habs, Packs & Celts. Report

March 9, 200521 yr comment_59054 The only team that I can think of that can really compete with the Yankees is the Montreal Canadiens. Et Le But! Vive Les Habitants! BZ (I am not a Habs fan) Report
