!!! THE OFFICIAL GO-BENGALS.COM RATBIRDS @ BENGALS GAME THREAD

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlemen !

The past 9 months we`ve been sitting around with a bad taste in our mouths from
the way last season ended.

We all know this team severly underachieved. Despite all the off the field issues
Palmer`s recovery from the cheap shot, and all of the injuries, they were a Playoff team
that held their destiny in their own hands, and literally, dropped the ball.

Since the end of the season, we`ve debated the firing of coaches, drafting and cutting of players.
And have learned more about the Conduct Policy, Substance Abuse Policy, and the Legal System,
more than any football fan should have to.

This team went through some growing pains the past few years.
And now have grown into legitimate Contenders for the Super Bowl !

All the offseason speculation and debates are over !

It`s now time to let the players and coaches speak for us !

Here`s hoping to a great and memorable 2008 season !

Breaking news. Mark Curnutte is out of commission tonight. Wish him well as he recovers from an ailing back (I know from experience that few injuries are more painful).

One man's tragedy, however, is another man's triumph. I've been called upon to replace Curnutte (albeit just for tonight) on the blog and in the newspaper. I've watched enough football and read a lot of Curnutte's Bengals stories. It can't be that difficult, can it?
I can't stand him. and now they pair him with the bengal hater Emmitt Smith.
Emmitt is an absolutely horrid analyst. He don't speak English good either.

After a preseason fraught with injury, the Bengals' regular starting lineup lacked only three players for Monday night's opener against the Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium with left tackle Andrew Whitworth getting the start in place of Levi Jones, rookie cornerback Leon Hall in place of Johnathan Joseph and Lemar Marshall in place of Rashad Jeanty at strong-side linebacker.

But Jones and Joseph were both dressed and Joseph figured to play when the Bengals are in their nickel package on passing downs. Jones, who had been rehabbing a surgically-repaired knee until three weeks ago, has been saying he's healthy so he could also be used.

Jeanty (leg) was on the inactive list along with two other players already declared out earlier in the week: Ethan Kilmer (knee), a defensive back, and defensive end Frostee Rucker (hamstring). Four rookies also took seats with center Dan Santucci, safety Marvin White, cornerback David Jones, and running back Clifton Dawson on the inactive list.

Jones and Dawson arrived only last week via the waiver wire. The deactivation of Santucci, reacquired last week from the Colts practice squad, was an indication they feel confident about starting center Eric Ghiaciuc. Ghiaciuc had missed the last two practices of the week with a neck problem.

Two perennial Pro Bowl tackles who missed virtually the entire preseason with injuries were in the starting lineup to begin their 12th seasons. Bengals right tackle Willie Anderson (foot) was poised to make his 113th straight start while the Ravens' Jonathan Ogden (toe) took his spot at left tackle on Baltimore's new-look offensive line.
Good to hear Joseph is still active. It will probably be like last year in Deltha's first game back from injury when he didn't start and they tried to limit his snaps.

As for Levi, I just hope Marvin has cleared the air with him and he isn't going to be complaining again after the game.

edit: ESPN update, these guys just don't get why the Bills got rid of McGahee. He was a team cancer and hasn't put up impressive stats at all since his rookie year.

What a surprise, Emmitt thinks he is going to be good.

"Lot more better tools than he had in Buffalo" And he keeps calling us "Cincynati"

Yeah. He has a very nice car collection.
The cars they showed were worth about a million bucks.

And he probably has more than what they showed . . .
