But then your rates go up, and that isn't cost-effective either. I'd just as soon push it off a cliff and report it stolen....but that's fraud. Go is going to have to bite the bullet to keep this car running (and safe, he has to transport the kids in it sometimes) and he knows it. He's just fishing for the best deal, which you can only find to a degree. Timing belt jobs on these little four-bangers require a lot of labor unless you know someone, it is what it is. Fire's a bad option, particularly when there are actually people in the car...although with your exhaust scenario, your catalytic converter could set the engine compartment on fire at any time....seen it before....
