YES, I am happy UK won (my only caveat: I kinda figured they'd steal this one all along, but bias goes a long way...) WHAT A GREAT BASKETBALL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fan loyalties aside, this REALLY was an exciting game to watch. One big impression I came away with at the end of the first half was how neither team truly deserves any comparison to teams like Illinois, UNC, etc in terms of the Final Four. I don't think either team is at their best right now...but I think UK is better positioned for the future (provided key young players don't jump ship to the NBA...even if I (we) think they aren't ready...) than UC. I agree with those who clamor for some type of schedule to be created for these teams to have a regular non-conference date every year... The rivalry doesn't exist on paper, but the fans on both sides of the river have created it and it should be perpetuated by the respective universities. As a UK fan with half a brain, I give props to UC for hanging tough (as I knew they would) and am happy my team advanced. I will not rub it in. There is no point in it, as it is a foregone conclusion. [b]I warn you name-callers on either side of the fence though[/b]...this thread is stretching my tolerance of a lack of civility.... Guest bengalrick Posted March 21, 2005 Report Share Posted March 21, 2005 bunghole, i couldn't disagree more w/ the illinois, nc comments... we are just as good as them... when we play like we did last night... we had one of the best games of the season from rondo and morris and i feel like we can really get going towards the final four... utah is tough b/c of that 7 footer that passes like a guard, but we can beat that w/ more man to man... then we have duke and that will also be a tough game, but we never know... what i'm trying to say is both teams were giving it 100%, which is why it wasn't a blowout, and kentucky played about as good as they can... so did uc besides the end, but good defense and tired legs will do that to you... we are peaking at the right time and we have all the ingrediants for a championship: 1. DEPTH - we are at least 11 deep, sometimes 12... 2. SIZE - if randolph plays like he did, he is a STUD. 3. PERIMETER - even rondo is nailing them now... might be a fluke, but we have sparks and kelenna 4. COACH - tubby is a genius i'm not saying its a guarentee, but everyone is playing close games... ILL will probably keep smoking fools, but they are in an easy bracker... we are close to those guys and could beat them if we play as hard as last night imo...
