no he doesn't. This is what he says:

[/quote]I agree with you on him sir, but I think he's retiring..I think he would relate very well to out players but it's too bad he's not going to be around. I would also like Rex Ryan but I do not think Zimmer is all that bad of a choice.

...and said vacation to be spent scouting.

As long as I could scout players from Miami, USC, and Hawaii, that wouldn't be too bad.

Yeah but you have to pay for the trips up front... they will reimburse you when you return.

I could live with that. As long as reimbursements are prompt.

I think the team is holding out hope for Ryan. His scheme is as close to what Marv ran in BMore, and if Ray is cut by the Ravens, Ryan would be one more draw to this team.

Also, I think Marv & co. are really taking their time with this decision. Marv's career will hinge on this hire. If it is right and the D significantly improves, Marv's job is save and this team is likely in the playoffs. If not, then Marv is on the hot seat. This is a great DC job regardless of pay. You all may think that is crazy, but hink about it. Pressure is low. The team has a great O and some talented young defenders. All the DC has to do is get them in the top 20 of all categories. If the DC succeeds and turns this D into a good D, then he is a genius and the front runner for future gigs. If he fails, it is because players stink and the front office stinks. He can't lose.

They WERE hoping for Ryan, and he was their #1 choice but have realized that it's probably not going to happen with the multiple positions open/opening up. I think they've settled on Zimmer per the word on the skreets.

I think they are STILL hoping for Ryan. Zimmer interviewed 10 days ago, and few, if any, others have been interviewed. If they liked Zimmer so much, the deal would be done. Your "word on the skreets" in just Hobs and Curnutte making generalizations due to the evidence or lack thereof. With Dallas out of the playoffs and the Falcons finally hiring a GM, HC jobs will get filled quick. If Ryan truly has a shot at a HC job, he will know in the next few days.

Don't get me wrong, I would be fine with Zimmer. He has a good resume and can implement multiple schemes. Ryan, on the other hand, will get more out of this squad faster. One. he has worked with Marv and they have similar philosophies. Look at the Ravens front 7 and the possible front 7 the Bengals COULD field.

Ravens: Bengals
DT- Dwan Edwards (6'3" 315) DT- Jonathan Fanene (6'4" 295)
NT- Kelly Gregg (6' 310) NT- Sedrick Ellis (6'1" 305) pick 9
DT- Haloti Ngata (6'4" 340) DT- Domata Peko (6'3" 319)
ROLB- Terrell Suggs (6'3" 260) ROLB- Ahmad Brooks (6'3" 259)
LOLB- Jarret Johnson (6'3" 270) LOLB- Robert Geathers (6'3" 265)
MLB- Ray Lewis (6'1" 250) MLB- Ray?(as a cap casualty) Odell Thurman (6' 240)
RLB- Bart Scott (6'2" 240) RLB- Landon Johnson (6'2" 235)

Pretty close. The Ravens have a bit more size, but not by much. No one is going to be as big and athletic as Ngata. Peko may be able to get to 325 without ill-effects. Fanene could easily hold an extra ten pounds or so. Ellis and Gregg (he was a Bengal a while back for those who don't know) look close. This could be one reason that Marv is waiting on Ryan.

My guess they are probably going to wait a few more days and try to hold out for Ryan. With the Cowboys being eliminated the top candidates for the Ravens and Dolphins jobs are now available and probably be in place by weeks end and then Ryan would be officially out of a job
