I'm going to Hell.

This is from a church located in Monroe, Ohio, just outside of Middletown, and in between Cincinnati and Dayton. It is located right off of I-75. It is clearly visible while on the interstate, right after the giant horse testicles, Hustler Hollywood, Bristols strip club, two flea markets, a truck stop, and the site of a future indian casino.

this is what it was modeled after

I'm sure somebody on here is a member of this church, and I'm probably going to offend them, but I can't stand this thing. There is a fucking gigantic statue of Jesus right in front of the church. Why? I have no clue. I used to know plenty of people that attended this church, and for the most part they were all good people. Yet the rumors still fly around that the owner built this church from laundered drug money, and he still uses it as a front for the operation. I have no clue if that is true, but the bottom line is that I can't stand driving by this tacky thing everyday. It's just my opinion that the vast amount of money used to create this thing could have been better spent improving the community, rather than creating this tacky ass thing. Oh, and apparently this is the world's largest Jesus statue.

Finally someone has gone about making a "travishamockery" of this thing. Which is exactly what should have done when someone suggested building a 62 foot tall statue of Jesus in front of a church.

I live in Lebanon, see the thing all the time. Looks like one of those sculptures made of butter in the dairy barn at the state fair. Look close at BJ's pic...it even has the yellowish tint to it. Maybe this summer it will melt.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!
Maybe we could replace the normal goalposts with giant Jesus' arms out asat the exact NFL requirement for field-goal posts....
It would be beautiful...
We could possibly combine Catholisicm and NFL football into one giant Sunday Mass...
Complete with cast images of Carson as The Golden Calf....

I can see it now. Sin city shaking continuously and uncontrollably due to the large Jesus occupying a large part of the devil's playground. BTW, are there any churches in Vegas besides cheezy wedding chapels?

My wifes distant relatives own the church.

Everyone on that side of the family is fucked up in the head.

We don't like it either.

Have you seen the commercial where the CEO is riding his horse across his trillion acres of land? That guy's a bazillionaire. Doesn't that big ranch on the hill on the left (heading north on I-75) before the Monroe exit belong to them. That's what my step-mom told me.

Yeah the LB Ranch...his name is Lawrence Bishop.
I heard along time ago that he got all of his money
from selling horses...and he smuggled drugs up their ass.

That statue is the epitome of what is wrong with churches.

Would`t that money have been better spent on some poor people that
attend that church ?

Shit... it's about time someone brought this thing up. Funny story: I first saw that abomination about a week after it was built. Coincidentally, I was visiting Cincy/Dayton then. I couldn't stop laughing all the way to my buddy's place in Dayton, and, of course, I had to tell him about it. Naturally, he had already seen it and proceeded to tell me the story of the guy who rund the Solid Rock Church.

From what he tells me, the guy who owns the ranch on the other side of I-75 got into some tax trouble (possibly because of drug trafficking as others have said, I don't know) and built the church as a tax shelter. He declared himself pastor, and now, officially, the church owns the ranch and everything on it. So all that property is tax-exempt because the church is "non-profit". That's what I heard, anyway.

Now on to the funny part. Not three days after I left Dayton, I was falling asleep in a hotel in Boston watching the Dennis Miller show (that's not the funny part, there was nothing on that night). He was doing his bit where he puts captions on curret event photos, when suddenly... there on the screen appeared a photo of Touchdown Jesus, and Miller says "Look out, Jesus! There's quicksand!!!" I was suddenly wide awake.

To top it all off, I've heard they want to PAINT the damn thing. Thank God Miller never said where it was...
