No kidding! At this rate, Arroyo may end up as the number 4 in the rotation.

GTG and I were present, and I'm of the opinion that 8Ks against the Phils is just as impressive as 10 against the D-bags.

Volquez wasn't giving up the deep outfield flies/homers that Cueto had, either.

Very, very good starts for both kids this week.

I was at the game too, and when volquez was on he was dominating hitters, and when he wasnt on he was throwing balls and giving up a couple hits but still getting out of innings without giving up runs..if he improves a little with his control he coulda gone 6 or 7 with 10 ks.

These guys should both rack up the strikeouts and hopefully win a good amount of games, even if they struggle here and there.
he definitely had nasty stuff today. Surprised they didn't let him finish the 6th. Also, I noticed his stuff seemed to work better against lefties.
That shit was nasty against the lefties. Not sure what he was throwing - two seam or 4 seam fastball - but the fucker looked like it was coming in on the knees and broke back to hit the inside of the plate. I only saw highlights of Cueto, but these two young guns have definitely been impressive.

By the way, did anyone notice the look on Howard's face (phillies) after his two strikeouts on that nasty pitch with his bat squarely perched on his shoulder. It was the proverbial "what the fuck" look. Classic.
By the way if you remove Josh Foggs stats, our team has an ERA of 2.7...like 3.5 or something if you include him.

Good first week if you ask me.
Fogg should be allright. Nobody's expecting him to win 20 games. If he can just keep us in it, our bats should lift him to something like an 14-9 record. Which would be tits if the other "Big Three" (not Arroyo) win 15 games each. Tall order, I know, but Harang, Cueto and Volquez have the stuff to do it.
I would NOT be surprised if Arroyo becomes our weak link by midseason in our rotation.

They arent all going to win that many games. Idk many teams that do all that. Im just expecting a 9-9/10-10 or so out of Fogg. Then like 12 wins from Volquez. 13 from Cueto. Around that from Arroyo too. And 17-19 from Harang.

I think arroyo is gonna have a better year than a lot of people think, he'll have more of a 06 year than o 07 year. He did lead the team in quality starts last year btw, he just didnt get the run support then tried to hard to win by himself.

With these young guns, and of course Harang, who led the league in K's two years ago and came in 2nd last season, the stadium needs a K counter, or a designated place for fans to hang K's. I'm sure Bob will oblige if it is suggested. Problem is, there's just so much clutter around the ballpark.
WOW is all I can say. I love how he can hit 96 and the very next pitch throw a 66 MPH change-up.
Are you sure that wasn't the reading on Bako's return throw? His changeup was coming in at 84 mph. Even Santana only gets 20 mph difference between the fastball and changeup.

If Bailey can ever get his shit together, this team might be good for a long time.
OR playing for Journey
The thing is, the stuff these guys have isn't the kind that hitters will figure out the second time they face them. They aren't tricking people, they're dominating them.
Keep on PWNING Em!!!

Thats what I say.

Its seems like a tough division this year...ya know? but I'm optimistic, and it seems like, maybe I got reason this time.
Oh, and Gonzales can be hurt for as long as he likes, if it keeps Keppinger in the lineup. The guy just gets hits. I love him.
You sound like my mom...

Shes all "I think he's got a hit everytime so far..."

I'm all "Yah, he's been doing that a lot lately..."

She's all "He's cute too..."

me and my friends at the game we're thinking about this.

There's a huge Kroger section.

They should just hit up kroger to pay for a Kroger k counter!

I was at the game and I saw some pitches coming in the mid 70s then some coming in the mid 80s...in fact there were pitches all over the radar gun, which is good to see.

PS Maybe we'll lead the leauge in Homers offensively and Ks pitching.
