Just heard on a Fox News preview Palmer could be out 4-6 weeks and is staying in New York for a 2nd opinion.

I honestly don't know why they don't just shut him down for the year at this point, and go for a top draft pick. just my opinion though.
From Curnutte....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who did not play Sunday in the 26-14 loss to the Jets, will stay in New York overnight tonight and have his inflamed right elbow examined by a specialist Monday.

Palmer said he wants a second opinion, “someone other than our doctors to look at it,” he said.

Palmer said he would not “shut down” his season, though the Bengals are 0-6.

“I’ll play when I get clearance to play,” Palmer said after the game at the Meadowlands. “Whether we’re 9-6 or 0-15, I’m going to play.”

Palmer will be seen by Dr. David Altchek, one of the team doctors for baseball’s New York Mets. Altchek has worked with pitchers Pedro Martinez and Carl Pavano.

“Hopefully he’ll give me clearance tomorrow and then I’ll practice and play (against the Steelers on Sunday),” Palmer said.

Palmer watched the Bengals offense score just one touchdown with backup Ryan Fitzpatrick starting for the second time in three games.

“It’s very frustrating,” said Palmer, who had started 51 games in a row before sitting in Week 4 against the Browns. “I enjoy practice. It’s frustrating watching practice, and it’s very frustrating on game day.”

Don't think you should question the leadership of this organization. They obviously know what they are doing.

Also, they're only 0-6. We still have a shot.....

Yep. And par for the course. They should shelve him until he's 100%, give the younger guys some playing time, and write off 2008 in exchange for some valuable experience for the rooks.

And that includes Anthony Collins. He can't be any more ineffective than some of the starters.
I often wonder why our injuries always seem to be more severe and take longer to get back from than other teams....

I am not really sure if it is true....but it does seem that way.
Ive been saying that for a while now.

Rich Brahams injury I still think was a head shaker.

Agree, especially in this case. Palmer's injury is very similar to a pitching injury, hence him getting a second opinion from the Mets team doctor. However, there does seem to be a trend w/ Bengals players getting hurt and there subsequent rehab being rather slow moving and questionable.

I said it earlier this week. Shut CP down until after the bye week.

Man, I hate to say it but, the Bengals are need of a running back. Chris looks awful out there and I'm not sure Benson can be counted on to carry the load long-term for us.

Dunno about a RB. A centre who didn't get blown up every play might help the run game AND the passing game.

Our O-line is woeful. Witness our attempts at passing. If it was just the RB then our passing game would have all day to pick them apart.

As it is we get about a blink.

I don't think either of them are particularly good, but it's hard for ANY running back to get yards when the line can't open up any holes.

Oh, and LOL @ the Bengals medical staff. Glad to see Mike spare's no expense to make sure his players get the proper medical care.

Thats what kills me......You pay Carson Palmer 100 million plus dollars but won't go the extra mile to make sure you have an adequate training staff and doctors.....

It's like buying a Lamborghini and never getting the oil changed....

What I am alluding to is the Bengals need to make RB a position to draft for this year. I don't know how many people on this board would be comfortable w/ Perry/Benson coming into next year as our 1,2 punch.

Sounds to me like Carson thinks he is not hurt or bad off as MFB's medical staff thinks and what better way to have yet another EXCUSE in the great line of EXCUSES on why we are having a losing season. This saves ML's job because MFB wants him shut down and this quiets the fans down. Typical MFB work!

I don't know if our medical staff sucks or not. They might be a bunch Dr. Nicks (Hi everybody). But I'll make a couple of points.

Carson is smart to get an outside opinion, no matter what team he plays for.

We don't talk about injuries, which often makes it look like the Doctors don't know what they're doing. Braham is a perfect example. The doctors knew all along it wasn't a bone bruise, but Marvin chose not to disclose that. He does it with virtually every injury if he thinks it's to his advantage somehow. We hear that it's minor week after week, then suddenly we put a guy on IR. Most likely our doctors knew all along. At least in most cases.

Warrick sucked with or without a knee injury and he refused to wear his contacts even after we told him to.

I think another part of it, especially today, is that they know that Fitz is going to run at the first sign of trouble. So they put 8 in the box and stuff the run, and protect against Fitz running. Throw in enough blitzing and looks to throw the passing game off and make Fitz second guess himself. When you do that, you can play less guys in pass coverage.
